World-renowned British scientist Professor Stephen Hawking is to arrive in Israel on Thursday night on an eight-day visit.

During his trip, which was organized by the British Embassy in Tel Aviv, Hawking will meet with young scientists at the Bloomfield Museum of Science in Jerusalem, and will also meet with Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.

His trip also includes a lecture at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and visits to the Weizmann Institute and Tel Aviv University as well as meetings with representatives of the Israel Academy of Sciences.

Hawking will also give a public address at Bir Zeit University in the West Bank city of Ramallah, and hold a video conference in East Jerusalem with Palestinian science students.
