President Shimon Peres arrives in Turkey for official visit

By Barak Ravid Tags: Turkey Mahmoud Abbas Shimon PeresPresident Shimon Peres arrived in Turkey on Sunday for an official visit, on the invitation of his Turkish counterpart Abdullah Gul.
The visit centers around a tripartite meeting to be hosted by Gul, in which Peres and Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas will participate.
The three will inaugurate a plan for the development of a Palestinian industrial zone in the West Bank, with Turkish funding.
Backing the plan is the Ankara Forum, comprising industrialists and leading businessmen in Turkey, Israel and the Palestinian Authority. The forum had sought to set up an industrial zone at the Erez Crossing with the Gaza Strip, but the project was diverted to the West Bank following the Hamas takeover of Gaza in June.
During his visit, Peres is scheduled to address the Turkish parliament, which will make him the first Israeli leader to address the parliament of a Muslim country. He will also meet Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Foreign Minister Ali Babacan.
On his plane en route to Turkey, Peres said he was confident that Israel and the Palestinians could reach a draft agreement ahead of the Annapolis summit.
"I believe that a great effort will be made, and I have no doubt that all those involved in the matter do not want the summit to fail, and everyone will make an effort in order for it to be a success," Peres said.
Peres also commented on the plan for a West Bank industrial zone, saying that "150,000 jobs for Palestinians will be more useful than 15,000 guns. If we want to strengthen Abbas, we need to create a peace that will be felt by the residents, and won't come from the firing of the guns, but with an increase in the quality of life."

Demented Peres is a little hair offshoot from Stalin's toe...hehehe
I always have said; "Diplomats are a dime a dozen" and Leaders are worth a quarter. With the US Dollar now on its crazy southern route, I guess these dudes are almost worthless. Waste of time and money. There is no solution for Palestine, until they give up their guns, rockets, mortars, explosive belts and bla bla.
I really do not understand this visit. I mean, you do not have to go to Turkey to make a plan to develop industry and jobs for West Bank or Gaza. However, it makes sense if one needs Torkey sky in a near future for possible defense against Iran.
If Natalie is so concerned about lower wage workers, I wonder if she is boycotting every restaurant in L.A. to protest. After all "undocumented immigrants" make far less than U.S. citizens. Maybe she feels they should stay in Mexico and Central America and build the economy there lest evil Americans stop hiring them as cooks, gardeners and valets.
Non-Jews working in Israel are paid lower wages than a Jew would be paid. Many instances of this have been reported in Haaretz. If a significant number of Palestinians become economically dependent upon Israeli owned factories, then Israel will continue to exert undue control over the Palestinian population. Simply closing the factories for short or long periods of time would throw a segment of the Palestinian economy into chaos. It is far better that the Palestinians rely upon themselves and not the Israelis to maintain the stability of their future state.
and he wants to give them another one. Time this eternally living Israeli Breshnev was retired.
Where is the news story of 100 police raiding OLMERTS OFFICE. Has Haaretz been told not to list this article. Olmert needs to be thrown out of office ASAP. He is a crook and a danger to Israel. Throw the bum out now. Anyone in his cabinet that supports this crrok should not be reelected next election. What an embarrassment for Israel.
