Police to let far-rightists march in East Jerusalem
Activists led by Baruch Marzel and Itamar Ben-Gvir to protest against illegal Palestinian construction.
By Liel Kyzer and Haaretz Correspondent Tags: Israel news East JerusalemJerusalem Police on Thursday agreed to let dozens of far-rightists march through an Arab village in East Jerusalem. The activists, led by Baruch Marzel and Itamar Ben-Gvir, had requested to demonstrate in Silwan to protest illegal Palestinian construction in the area.
Police have given permission to 70 activists to take part in the march, which is set to take place in 10 days. Police have allotted the length of a kilometer along which the demonstrators can walk, beginning from the Old City of Jerusalem into the center of Silwan.
"[Palestinians] cannot lecture us about construction in Judea and Samaria when in [this] village there are dozens of illegal houses," said Ben-Gvir. "The law regarding illegal houses in [this] village is exactly the same law that applies to the houses being destroyed in our outposts."
Jerusalem Police have warned the activists not to hold inflammatory banners or make discriminatory comments during the march. Police are also concerned that Muslim protesters will turn to violence in their demonstrations against Israel's decision to approve the construction of 1,600 new houses in East Jerusalem.
As a result, police are limiting entry to the Temple Mount for Friday prayers and will deploy large forces across the Old City.

#13 highlights the ignorance of the majority of the posters in Haaretz. The far-left has been marching continuously in east Jerusalem as well as all over Israel, Judea and Samaria. Much of Silwan belonged to the Jews and Jews lived there until forced to leave by Arab rioting and British exile. First learn history. Perhaps the "far-right" should start acting like the far-left and the Arabs when demonstrations they don't agree with occur.
Lincoln thinks the Intifadas are like the Super Bowl. He's negotiating with CNN to charge 3 million a minute for ads, and Madonna will be the halftime show. This is pretty simple, Israel doesn't need any consent to act and build in its land. Yeah, yeah, we know its not their land rubbish. The Arabs could have had what they're looking for now back in '67, yet chose war. They made the bet, lost, and now want to annul their losing bet. Sorry, just doesn't work that way. Why weren't they interested in their 22nd Arab State back when Jordan ran the show, instead destroying Israel was more important. Bring on that Intifada, Lincoln. Just don't want to hear a peep from you when the Arabs get smoked. Like everything else, their **suffering** will be self-inflicted and deserved. Make sure you order plenty of heroes, its gonna be a loonnng show.
...and humiliating people. The sure way to create hate. And the hate cause attacks (intifada). And again we get to reason to "defence" ourselves.
Isn't that the way it is supposed to be. Freedom of speech is not a right reserved for only one extreme of the political spectrum. Last week to the left this week to the right.
The Israeli right has a clear goal. To incite a Third Infitada. The first was a big boon to the Israeli right. The second was provoked to elect Sharon and worked. The Third Infitada will seal Netanyahu's domination over Israel. So lets do everything we can to get it going. The 'police', you know, the guys that are always ready to bash heads and end a liberal protest, and never seem to arrive at a settler outrage until it is over, will be glad to bash the left and help the right. Nothing new in that. In the USA the only protest that is never busted is a police strike line.
What's good for goose is good for gender...
I just hope the police have lots of rubber bullets and tear gas to disperse the violent rowdies that characterize the settlers. Oh wait those things are reserved for those ever so dangerous muslim demonstrators.
BUT the rest of the nation has to leave quietly by the side exit to avoid any further embarrassment. Last one, out don't forget to light the Yahrzeit candle.
George Mitchell must feel like he's in the movie Groundhog Day (with the same events always repeating themselves). The Unionists (iProtestant) were wont to take periodic en masse strolls through the Nationalist (Catholic) neighborhoods in Northern Ireland. And, well--hey, dude!--imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right? Welcome back, Kotter!
jerusalem police must also let a far-leftists march in east jerusalem. that is democratic and ofcourse freedom of speech, opinion and expression for all israelis and palestinians! hear all sides!
Primary purpose is to antagnonise, and i think letting this go ahead after the events of this week is utter stupidity.
It seems to me that Israel loves to provoke Arab anger. For Israel, it's been a while since it had a terrorist attack against it, so it's time to provoke some violence, so that the "Hasbara" machine can keep going. The "Hasbara" always needs some good material to depend on and if Israel is out of it, then they have to synthesis it. Makes me wonder sometimes who really sponsors Hamas!
If everything is equal in Israel, maybe Israeli Arabs and women can march in Mea Shaarim at the same time for equal rights.
New Israel is a punk nation.
Jeez, even I, as the staunchest of Zionists and lovers of our Homeland, am finding it increasingly difficulty, bordering on impossible, to support, let alone justify, some of Israel's most recent actions. Frankly, if another intifada breaks out, we will have no-one to blame but ourselves...
Let's get that Third Infitada going!
Totally provocative and utterly unproductive. And save the "but Israel is a democracy" BS. I'll believe that when Palestinians are permitted to march thru Mea Shearim.
If they build illegally, their buildings need to be destroyed no less than anybody else's.
"As a result, police are limiting entry to the Temple Mount for Friday prayers and will deploy large forces across the Old City. " And you get the united Jerusalem hallucinators telling all of us that there is free access for all faiths in Jerusalem. Jerusalem is divided and there is one faith that does not have free access and will not until there is a peace agreement. Which is why those hallucinators will do anything to scupper the merest whiff of discussions on the subject. I suggest that in response, the people of Silwan and other parts of Jerusalem go and protest in Baqa and Talpiot and even Jaffa about illegal confiscation of their former homes.
What's even more obscene is that many will leap to defend it -- and everything they say will be a lie, and they'll know that it's a lie, and they'll say it anyway.
Go wise israelis, and show to the world that undivided jerusalem is eternal from now.
...to the "Orange" marches in Belfast. Deliberate provacation.
