Police are baffled: Why did a woman slash her friend's throat?
Assailant called the police, confessed she had murdered her 24-year-old acquaintance in Bnei Brak.
Police are baffled as to why a 24-year-old woman from Jerusalem slashed her friend's throat and stabbed her repeatedly on Thursday, leaving her to die of her wounds.
The suspect was arrested Thursday along with her mother and sister, a few hours after police found the body of a 24-year-old woman at her grandmother's apartment in Bnei Brak.
It transpired that the suspect herself called the police to report the murder Thursday morning. The victim's grandmother also called the police and said she feared for her granddaughter's life.
Police began combing the area and found the body, which had evidently been brutalized.
They also found the mobile phone from which the suspect reportedly made the call, and were therefore able to pinpoint her exact location.
The suspect was then spotted in a car along with her mother and sister, who police suspect may have helped her flee the scene of the crime.
The three were taken for questioning, but refused to cooperate with the police.
A lawyer representing the suspect on Friday claimed the victim was pregnant, and demanded that a court-appointed doctor be present during the autopsy. However, the motive behind the murder still remains unclear.
The police will ask that the remand of the suspect be extended and that she undergo psychiatric evaluation.
