President Shimon Peres launched his own YouTube channel on Tuesday, in an effort to communicate with citizens of countries with which Israel does not have diplomatic ties.

Peres announced his new channel at a press conference at the President's Residence in Jerusalem, along with Chad Hurley, founder of YouTube, who is currently visiting Israel.

Peres announced that his YouTube channel will be used to communicate with people in countries with which Israel does not have diplomatic relations. The channel will also host virtual press conferences where Web surfers will be invited to ask the president questions.

Peres extends an invitation to dialogue on his new channel. "Please join me in finding solutions to three key issues: how to advance peace in the Middle East and the world, how to further reconciliation between different faiths, and how to harness new technologies for the good of mankind," Peres writes on the site's main page.

Peres noted the importance of the Internet in today's society. "The internet fundamentally changed the way we communicate with one another. As a man who believes in the power of technology, I am excited at the prospect of dialogue with the citizens of Israel and the world," said Peres.

How much money can this guy waste? Jetting all over the world to "discuss" policies and what for? He has no authority! NIS 100 million a year for a figurehead. What a waste of our taxmoney. CLOSE DOWN THE PRESIDENCY NOW!

We should labor and sacrifice to advance peace in the Middle East and the world, reconcile between different faiths, and do all for the good of mankind, That begins with treating all peoples equally and abandoning any sense of superiority and entitlement. Rhetoric needs to be replaced by good deeds. Zealotry needs to be controlled by governments. Greed needs to be abhored. Our heritage is one of truth and justice. We have the opportunity to truly lead the way to a better world. However we need to avoid the temptations of zealotry, entitlement, superiority and neglect of those least able to help themselves. We can begin now within our own midst to decry our very brothers and sisters that condone the excesses of the occupation. We should not remain silent. If the world is to change, it cannot be delayed. The future of our children and their children is at stake. It is a time when courageous leadership with a vision of lasting peace with justice is essential.
