Palestinians: Abdullah calls off W. Bank visit due to bad weather
Jordanian king to reschedule Ramallah visit in coming days; advance team of royal aides arrive.
By The Associated Press and Haaretz ServiceJordan's King Abdullah on Sunday called off what would have been a rare visit to the West Bank, citing bad weather, but will reschedule in coming days, an aide to Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas said.
Journalists had been waiting for nearly five hours for the king's arrival at Abbas' headquarters in Ramallah. One Jordanian helicopter delivered an advance team of journalists and royal aides, but the monarch never arrived.
"Because of the bad weather, the visit was postponed for a few days," said Nabil Abu Rdeneh, the Abbas aide.
Nasser Judeh, a Jordanian government spokesman, had said on Friday that Abdullah's plans to hold talks with Abbas in Ramallah came within the framework of His Majesty's efforts to activate the peace process by direct contacts with the concerned parties.
Judeh said the visit reflects the king's continuous and well known position and efforts to push all the sides to the negotiation table and his full support for the establishment of a Palestinian state.
Abdullah has visited Ramallah once before, a brief stopover to see then-Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat in 2000, soon after Abdullah ascended to the throne. In 1999, he visited Arafat in the Gaza Strip.

The Israelis have been heavily criticized by the UEFA for attacking children playing football. No not the US, the EU or the US, but the UEFA. Ben is just projecting, poor sod.
Google it. You must have miised last weeks news. It w as quite prominent, almost as much as the fake Mickey Mouse inciting the kindergarten kids.
Do you mind giving a source so I could look up this interesting statement. "Let`s not forget these are the very same fellows that attacked a Pali kids soccer game and threw a bomb to announce their arrival." -BJ
Does that little worm expect anybody to believe this "bad weather" story? Surely he could be driven by automobile, or is Abdullah II afraid the Palestinians will crush him as they crushed Abdullah I?
It's been a beautiful day today, so maybe it's just a front for something else that happened. A Nassraha
left Jordan to travel elsewhere, his trusted brother, Prince Hassan, was always at the airport to see him off and receive temporary stewardship of the country. Hussein was a capable pilot, he had to be, in case he had to make a fast getaway. It's quite evident that Abdullah II has nobody he can trust while he's absent, even if only for a short time. I can't forget how Prince Hassan was rewarded for his loyalty to his brother Hussein, by being stabbed in the back, Hussein designating his incompetent son Abudullah to be his heir. Abduallh II is in a quandry, when he leaves there's a good chance he'll have nothing to come home to. Meanwhile, Prince Hassan, sit's isolated, hanging in by being obedient and silent. Poor soul, like the bridgegroom that found out that his virgin bride wasn't.
When exactly was Nasrallah democratically elected? What a joke
#4 got it right. The weather may mean that they received signals that the guy may not make it back to Jordian if he makes the trip to WB. That shows that the court knows that he is not loved by the people as they like to say on TVs. I believe only in a leader elected by the people, and for the people! Nasrallah is an example of such leaders!
Abdullah II has COLD FEET, fearing he may go out the same way his Grandpa, Abdullah I went to his maker. Grandpa caught a bullet from an assassin. There's a lot more fellows running around in the PA areas that have guns than when Abdullah I was alive. Let's not forget these are the very same fellows that attacked a Pali kids soccer game and threw a bomb to announce their arrival.
H ow ridiculous
it is not bad weather, but bad statements coming out of Ramallah that caused a cancellation of the trip. It is clear that those sitting in Ramallah are always sitting and living in bad weather that clouds their thinking process.
That's an original one, especially when the sun is shining. Maybe they meant bad weather in their relations. I wonder what's going on behind the scenes.
