Palestinian killed as IAF strikes Gaza rocket launchers
3 additional gunmen seriously hurt; IDF: Targeted rocket-launching squad was preparing to fire at Israel.
By Haaretz Service and DPA Tags: Hamas Israel news GazaThe Israel Air Force bombed a rocket-launching squad in the Gaza Strip Friday morning, killing one person and seriously wounding three others.
A military source said the dead gunman belonged to a radical, previously unknown Palestinian armed faction inspired by al-Qaida, calling itself "Jaljalat."
There was no immediate Palestinian confirmation of the fatality. Earlier reports said four people were wounded in the strike, one of them critically and three seriously. The four were initially, mistakenly believed to have been hit by an Israeli shell, rather than rocket.
"Earlier today," the source said, "in a joint Israel Defense Forces and Shin Bet security service operation, the Israel Air Force bombed a group of terror operatives on their way to fire rockets from the northern Gaza strip into Israel. Accurate hits including the rocket launcher were identified."
"We see Hamas as responsible for keeping the peace in the south and the IDF will respond to any attempts to disrupt the calm in the south," he added.
The Palestinian Islamist movement ruling Gaza has largely observed an unofficial truce since last winter's Gaza war, but some militants acting independently have continued sporadic rocket and mortar fire from Gaza at southern Israel, to which the Israeli military has responded with airstrikes.
Last Saturday, Hamas announced that it had reached an agreement with other militant groups in Gaza to stop firing rockets at southern Israeli towns to prevent retaliatory attacks.
On Thursday, Gaza gunmen fired five mortar shells into the Western Negev. All the shells exploded in open areas in the Eshkol region. No injuries or damage were reported.
Israel on Sunday bombed a metal foundry and smuggling tunnels in Gaza, after a rocket launched by Gaza militants exploded in southern Israel Saturday morning, causing no injuries.

All, Hamas claims it is the established government of the PA and is entrenched in Gaza. If it declares a truce, it should enforce it as a government. It is responsible. Ironically, the same folks who condemn the Israeli government for excesses of the Settlers (Israel should control its citizens) give Hamas a pass when Gazan citizens are commiting acts of war against its neighbor. I personally don't believe that anyone in Gaza can get weapons without the knowledge and approval of Hamas authorities.
For any and all actions that emanate from Gaza When Hamas was voted in, they accepted responsibility for all the going's on That's an old stunt, Hamas say's that another group which they didn't have control over did the nasty deeds, they done it many times "If we`ve now got Al Quaeda inside Gaza..." Since when do you use the collective "We", you're no place near the action, and have stated many a time, you don't intend to go
This Israeli government is freeing many more killers and terrorists to kill again than they are killing . This in no way serves the interest of the country or serves to protect and defend the people. Isn't that what a government is supposed to do ? When a government determines no longer to serve and protect the people they represent then those officials are no longer fit to serve ! This government has lost the trust and confidence of its people !
Everyone knows these terrorist who fire rockets are Hamas so why does Israel allow Hamas to continue??? Tanzim is the same as PLO and now Hamas also calls itself "Jaljalat" when convenient.
....Hamas certainly cannot be held responsible for them. Hamas has stopped other groups--and itself--from firing rockets, but cannot be always blamed for others, especially Al Quaeda...
for every single incident. Especially considering that it's essentially stopped firing rockets into Israel, and has managed to rein in most others as well, which is no small feat in itself. After all, Israel policies have given rise to quite a number of Fateh and Hamas splinter groups over the years, none of whom are obliged to the follow the lead of either. Despite Hamas being terrorist, it should at least be given recognition for what it's managed instead of always being held responsible. And this group, if it's true that it's al-Qaida inspired, is almost certain not to be one sanctioned by Hamas.
You play with fire you get burnt.
Stop terrorists before they act. Excellent.
One gunman only killed! What a wast of ammunition and firepower. This is not the way to deter further attacks. Planning to attack Israeli targets has to have graver consequences.
Herz wrote: there is no proof that those people were planning a rocket attack. there is, however, proof that the IAF bombed and injured civilians. so really, who is the criminal here? Well Herz, why not have the General Assembly have International Law clarified to read: 1 If someone is about to attack you a response may not be effected until the attack occurs and then only if someone is injured by the attack 2 No harm must come to the attacker under any circumstances. 3 The above applies only to Israel and to no other nation.
Maybe the IAF are trying to invoke a retaliatory move from Hamas, as Hamas has promised a ceasefire but would allow retaliatory strikes. Something the Israeli media monster wants soo badly to call Hamas terrorists again?
If the palestinians want to fire rockets at Israel then Israel will fire bigger rockets at them. If the palestinians leave Israel alone, stop kidnapping its people and stop firing rockets then all those planes will be sitting in their aircraft hangers and nobody would be getting killed. Hamas can choose war or peace but they just going to have to accept if they want war then Israel will give them one it wont be pleasant for the palestians and they are going to loose in the end just a matter of how many people die before they admit defeat. If Hamas choose peace then there are rewards to be had .

Doris is back with her habitual "shame on..." & let's show some respect. She just got the parties reversed ... again! Doris I might have some empathy for your repetitive strain if you showed any interest in the well being of Israelis in addition to your mantra for Palis.
and the rockets red glares.. Thanks IDF for preemptive strikes. Seems Hamas is blaming others now. Are they in charge or not? If not, maybe one day, the rockets will be aimed at Hamas?
the attacks , so how it happen that they attacked again , now virtually every day?
it's the ultimate display of arrogance and low life to bully and threaten others below with their 21st century power instead of showing repect for the law of the land and their rights as a people. Shame on them... Dutch
