PA official blames settlers for death of Palestinian shepherd
Shepherd's body found with stab wounds in valley near West Bank city of Nablus; Yesha: We have no knowledge of incident.
By ReutersA Palestinian shepherd has been stabbed to death outside the West Bank town of Aqraba, a Palestinian official said on Monday. Jawdat Bani-Jaber, mayor of Aqraba, accused West Bank settlers of being behind the killing.
The shepherd disappeared with his flock of sheep late on Sunday night and his body was found on Monday in a valley outside of Aqraba, south of the West Bank city of Nablus.
"I charge the Israeli settlers with the killing," Bani-Jaber said. "I also blame the Israeli army because several incidents have taken place in Aqraba and the army provides no protection to farmers."
Yishai Hollander, a spokesman for the Yesha Council of Settlements, said he was not familiar with the incident.
"It is natural for them to blame the settlers, but in fact there are enough Arabs killing Arabs," Hollander said.
Israel Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said the body was found between two Palestinian villages and had been transferred to Israel for an autopsy. The police have opened an investigation.

In the place were this man killed the jews only have guns to protect them self but for the Palestinian nothing is allowed for them even a naïf not allowed .also before 5 or 6 years the jews killed one young man in the same place. Please stop killing.......
you have me confused with ballistic, i go by the name g, and that is purely me, not ballistic
I wrote about an outpost from Itamar and you present facts about Itamar. Mistake! The village Yanoun is situated 5 km from Aqraba. About 400-500 m from the village there is that outpost from Itamar. The outpost was established between 1990 and 2000. The year 2002 the settlers began to violently attack the petople in the little village. This is facts and background about the case with the killed farmer. The farmers are very friendly and when a stranger comes they always offer him tea or a cigarett and this has many times given settlers opportunity to beat farmers with their guns or with knifes.
Rabbis For Human Rights tried to get the army to help last night in the search. Our field worker saw the murder site and accompanied the body to Abu Kabir. The murder took place in an area where settlers have attacked Palestinians in the past, but it is too early to draw conclusions.
I hadn't realized that you could take an objective view of the situation, something that James Sullivan is incapable of. My compliments. As for the mayor's accusation, cold it perhaps be that blaming the Jews is a way of distracting attention from the real culprits?
If that was a genuine Ballistic then Yup :) I apologise & send best regards :) But I wager it's a fraud :)
seems like the mayor is very quick to point his fingers at the Jewish settlers. what ever happened to being innocent until proven guilty? who knows who did it. a jew, an arab, a druze. a person was killed and that is not seen as being the tragedy. the tragedy is watching the numbskulls on this board point fingers at each other instead of caring about an innocent death. whoever killed this man should be ashamed, since its against all of the major religions to commit murder.
Oh, come on, Yaakov, maybe if you actually lived there, you'd REALLY know what goes on there. But then again, there is always blame on the Settlers for something, so maybe your "Judge, Jury, executioner" mentality is what's going on. Hey, that's an idea! Yaakov, you should go live in Gaza! Yup, that'd be great, because then you could prove to us all by your very existence that Palestinians really do love their Jews! This is great...
doesnt it seem odd that the mayor is angry that the idf doesnt protect the pals, i mean, to me, if someone wanted to hurt me or my family i wouldnt protect them, and yet he seems to think that they should, odd. but then again almost no one in the west bank or gaza these days seems to use logic, oh well, what a loss
FACT- It's more than 5 km. away with mountains in between them. FACT- There have never been ANY incidents between the residents of Itamar and the residents of Aqraba. FACT- According to the reports, the body was found between Aqraba and a neighboring Arab village- not even in the direction of Itamar. FACT- If it was someone from Itamar, they would have used a gun, not a knife. FACT- To get close enough to use a knife definitely means that they knew each other and weren't afraid of each other. It was definitely hamulas of the 2 Arab villages.
That wouldn't stand in America, but in your world it certainly does.
The Palestinian village Yanoun is situated about 5 km from Aqraba. The village is surrounded by settlers, outposts from Itamar settlement. The settlers have violently stolen land from the farmers in Yanoun and the settlers have many times attacked the farmers.
Only a very few Idf and police actually stop the daily constant abuse by settlers towards the minority arabs.
Yeh, right, "investigation". Like the one with Rachel Corrie, Miller and Hurndal. Oh, right, Hurndal killer was sentenced. But only after tremendous lobbying by his parents of the British government and after extensive work with the international media, when Israel simply had no choice. Hurndal's family had the efforts of a government behind them. This case involves a palestinian shepard. Not many advocates there so one already knows where this "investigation" will lead.
The "'hte' settlement"? There's no such thing. There are 2 Arab villages there; Aqraba and Utzarin, with a valley in between (I assume from the article that this is the valley that they're referring to). And there are no Jewish communities there. It's not uncommon for an Arab murdering an Arab to be blamed on the Jews, and for them to quietly work it out between the feuding families quietly; not air their dirty laundry publicly and at the same time, make us look bad for their crimes. Just wait. You'll see it here too.
Leave politics and racist assumptions out of the discussion. This wasn't an acciental death. Someone has been murdered. In the civilized world such matters are investigated in the hope of finding the guilty party.
what about hte settlement (probably ilegal) next to yanun ?????
why waste israeli tax dollars on this?? let the PALs do what they want with the body. dont waste our money on this.
It was obviously just another internal Arab feud, so blaming the Jews is the convenient way to play it to the outside.
