It is absolutely the most natural thing to wish a Muslim "Ramadan Kareem" at this time. As a child I was forced to attend a Christian church but I never thought of myself as having any particular religion as an adult. I am now living in Morocco, a totally Muslim country and I live here because I like the people. I like how Moroccans BEHAVE both with me and with each other. There is nothing violent about this society; on the contrary, losing one's cool is frowned upon. Even during this trying time of Ramadan. Some of the posters on this forum have much to learn and they need to know that they are very lucky to have Barack Obama as president of the United States of America.

Of course everybody knows Christianity is extremely bizar, there was no need to point that out really. There is still a thing Islam and Judaism have in common in the reality how these religions work out. That is that many followers feel better, special, blessed, etc. in short being above non-believers. The Christians have outlearned this, not only is their religion the most bizar but also they committed the Holocaust. Nowadays the most fundamentalist Jesus-Christians, namely the American reborn lunatics. are fighting and praying for Israel. Would anyone have believed that 65 years ago, eh?

What is so particularly bizarre about Judaism? All religions contain parts that are seen as bizarre - by people of other (or no) religions and often even its own adherents.

Of course Muslim Ambassadors will attend a dinner at the White House for Rosh Hashana. Judaism as well as Christianity are respected in Islam and the problem of the Muslim countries is with Israel's brutal occupation of the Palestinians, not with Judaism. Question is - will they be invited??

Obama has done well to show the US is not intrinsically opposed to Islam, and can even officially wish them well on holidays and the like. Extreme Islamic Political Fundamentalism that preaches violence is another thing. He has carefully distinguished between the too. Good for him at this time of tension. Israel too must respect legitimate cultural differences while maintaining vigilance against extremism, all the time. Welcome to the club.

Will Obama invite a delegation of Muslim diplomats to the White House if and when he issues Rosh Hashana greetings to world Jewry?

Hope all the Arab envoys will be there when Obama wishes all the Jews a blessed new year and praises the profound and unique yet slightly bizar religion of Judaism.

In America there is freedom of speech, especially for the President of the United States. However, any person with common sense knows Obama's true feeling toward Israel and the arab countries. It has not taken long for the new Presidnet to show his true colors.

While the gesture was good, he made an error in saying that 'Muslims like Christians subscribe to the principles of advancing justice, progress, tolerance and the dignity of all human beings'. As major American Jewish groups were represented among the guests it would have been more honest to say these values were shared by Christians, Muslims and Jews. Most of these princples first appear in the Hebrew Bible, not the N.T. or Koran.
