Banquet was booked months ago by an Iranian student group to coincide with Ahmadinejad's trip to UN.

Ahmadinejad was due in New York next week to attend the UN General Assembly, and his public appearances outside the meeting have generated controversy in recent years.
"As soon as Helmsley corporate management learned of the possibility of either the Iranian mission or President Ahmadinejad holding a function at the New York Helmsley Hotel, they immediately ordered the cancellation of that function," hotel spokesman Howard Rubenstein said in a statement.
"Neither the Iranian mission nor President Ahmadinejad is welcome at any Helmsley facility," the statement said without saying why.
A group called United Against Nuclear Iran told the hotel that Ahmadinejad was on the guest list, he said.
The New York Post reported the banquet was booked months ago by an Iranian student group.
Ahmadinejad on Friday called the Holocaust "a lie based on an unprovable and mythical claim" in comments to worshipers at Tehran University.

I do not see how he is allowed to enter the US or New York city with out being arrested. This man is a criminal.
Since its all on paper and film,to deny the slaughter of over 6 million innocent men, women and children is to condone it!It was Karl Marx, who in his college essay..'On the Jewish question" who started this outrage against humanity and the chaplain look alike later completed the smear with ovens..good for the hotel..will return my towel now.....Nino
I wonder if, in a few years when the Boycott campaign really starts rolling, and its Israeli delegations having reservations cancelled, what the comments will be like
If we do not have the moxie, or our fearless leader, I give carte blanche to the Israelis to do what they have to do to silence him which for all our sakes, I hope is soon.
That's only to be expected of an Austrian, whose country has never acknowledged its complicity in the Holocaust. Nice place to visit, Vienna, but God forbid I should ever live there.
Even though Leona is out of it, anything she was ever connected with doesn't deserve anybody's business. Leona Helmsley's most memorable quote: "Only the little people pay taxes."
Bet she would have sat "Cast Lead Olmert" in a heartbeat.
Harry Helmsley (who founded the real estate and hotel company) was white anglo-saxon protestant.
'Israel is on Ahmedinejad`s radar because it is full of Jews. Palestinians chafed at Israel as a country because of the Jews - they never complained under British, Turkish, etc. rule, even though they were no less problematic. Take a gander at the Quran, and you`ll "get" it.' I think Israel would be on Ahmadinejad's 'radar' if it had been seized by ANY non-Muslim group. As for the Palestinians, think maybe that they didn't mind the Turks and British too much because they left them on their land whereas the Jews drove them off of it? Your attempt to see antisemitism everywhere is forcing you to be willfully obtuse.
As a matter of fact, I do. I would remind you of a saying: if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. To my knowledge, none of them are there with having been found guilty of a crime. If you can show me that any of them were imprisoned without having a trial, simply on the basis of the color of their skin, I will become more concerned. Unless and until you do, I will go back to the saying I started with.
US save the money for UN a n d Israel and the world is a better place, The frog perspective of the middle of nowhere in Israel.
Why should he be allowed to land? Also why should he get any police escort? Land in your terror friendly canada and drive over and then drive back to canada. Do not spend a night in NYC.
While I would prefer to keep Ahmadinejad out of the US altogether, I think we should take the high road and no sink to his levels. Students living in America set this up, for good or bad and it is their rights that are being broken. I would think a lawsuit is coming since Ahmadinejad was in the US legally and booking was done months ago. This just makes more Muslims living in America mad and we have enough of them now. I would have like to have seen Holocaust memorial in the Hotel at the same time or something along that line.
We do understand your admiration for Ahmadinejad given that both the Iranian regime and the Irish regime support terrorism against innocents http://www.nytimes.com/2005/11/13/international/europe/13ireland.html?ei=5090&en=5ece31a831e73de2&ex=1289538000&partner=rssuserland&emc=rss&pagewanted=all http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/05/20/irish-reform-schools-thou_n_205719.html
I believe #1 was being sarcastic.
Three cheer's to New York's Helmsley Hotel for canceling a banquet that Iran's illegitimate President was to attend. Let's hope the Intercontinental Hotel will take the hint and cancel its reservation for him, or we should start a boycott of that establishment. If we want to get serious about those who spread anti-Semitism, then it is hitting businesses in the pocketbook that sends a loud and clear message that we Jews are not going to take this BS anymore. Once we said, "Never again." We should commit ourselves to that goal again instead of fighting amongst ourselves about less significant matters such as "what constitutes a Jew" etc.
in america's prisons. they form 13% of the usa population and over 60% of the prison population. death row is almost exclusively black.
Since the UN is in any case pro-Arab, pro-Muslim and anti-Israel, its headquarters should be moved to an Arab or Muslim country and the US should stop contributing a disproportional amount of money to supportit. Stop the hypocrisy.
Regime supporter students who chant 'death to America' but with the support of regime and stolen money from iranian people are studying in the universities of the U.S should be fired immediately. These days prowestern iranians cannot get visa to go to U.S because of Iranian regime policies. Why should people who are linked to the regime and support those policies be able to go to the U.S and study there and then come back home and contricute to the repression of Iranian people.
it would be nice if hussein teleprompter would ALSO declare the iranian midget as a persona non grata...
Played right into Ahmadinejad's hands. Exactly the response he would desire. Still, I presume that you think you've taught the 'wog' a lesson?
#9, you can't possibly be dumb enough to think that Israeli and Iranian elections are comparable. You and the 5 ft holocaust denier himself must be the only ones not admitting the Iranian election was rigged. Israel holds free, honest elections in which non-Jews are able to vote. The electoral percentages are meaningless
You note that the Palestinians didn't complain under any of those people's rule; none of those worthies discriminated against them or expelled hundreds of thousands of them because they are Muslim. You don't have to look at the Quran; those are good enough reasons right there.
Israel is on Ahmedinejad's radar because it is full of Jews. Palestinians chafed at Israel as a country because of the Jews - they never complained under British, Turkish, etc. rule, even though they were no less problematic. Take a gander at the Quran, and you'll "get" it.
Do you mean a Jewish owned hotel ? Surely you know the difference between Jews and Israelis? I would hope so anyway. Anyway your post was "a good laugh", Jane
Thai is a surprise judging by the name of the owners.#3 remmeber he was voted by higher mrgin that any Israelie prime minister ever had .
I don't even understand why there are Iranian students in the US. How do they get a visa if the US has no embassy in Iran and no diplomatic relations with Iran.
"Neither the Iranian mission nor President Ahmadinejad is welcome in the free world." - Canadian The US chose at the end of WW II to create and host the UN. Then it took upon itself the responsibility and burden of being host to ALL nations. A hotel has the choice of rejecting monstrosity. The United States, and New York City, have eschewed that luxury by their choice to host the United Nations.
"Respect is worth more than money." - R C Not if you are rich or want to be.
Neither the Iranian mission nor President Ahmadinejad is welcome in the free world.
Closing the doors on Ahmadinejad is one way to turn the heat up on him. The rest of the world should do the same. Respect is worth more than money.
He threw a party today and the opposition came.
How can there be any controversy over the veracity of the holocaust whatsoever when the perpetrators themselves meticulously documented all of it?!? Kudos to the hotel chain for canceling the event and publicly stating that Ahmedinijad is unwelcome. He and his cronies should be unwelcome in any civilized venue.
The Iranian despots selecting a Zionist-owned hotel for their banquet. Would have been a perfect opportunity for the Mossad though, which all good Antisemites know control the activities of all global Zionists -)
