The High Court is considering giving fathers and mothers permission to carry out their sentences separately, to ensure one be at home with the children while the other is in jail.

The parents were initially told that their sentences would begin at 12 P.M., but the time was postponed due to the mass protests expected in Jerusalem over the arrests.

The High Court is considering giving fathers and mothers permission to carry out their sentences separately, to ensure one be at home with the children while the other is in jail.
Ultra-Orthodox officials made a last-ditch effort on Wednesday to keep the parents from the settlement of from being arrested and jailed for their refusal to obey the High Court ruling.
Tens of thousands of people are expected to demonstrate in Jerusalem and Bnei Brak Thursday to support the right of the parents to keep their children in segregated classes.
The 43 families of the Ashkenazi girls seemed elated Wednesday by the prospect of their impending arrest and two-week jail term, which some called "a historic stand for the sanctification of the name of heaven."
The police have given a permit for a 20,000-strong demonstration in Jerusalem, to be led by Ashkenazi Haredi political and religious leaders.

The views of the girl's parents should be respected. Even though their position may seem radical, the parents have every right to decide the type of education their children receive. Segregation in schools may make the most rational individual uncomfortable, but unfortunatelly it is the reality of the world in which we live. Even the most democratic states have segregated schools. In this case religion is the main factor but in other societies it may be determined by the financial situation of the parents. All around the world the rich for the most part send their children to private schools which the poor or middle class in those societies cannot afford. Isn't that a form of segregation? So before building another fence or deporting the Ultra-Orthodox out the country, one must examine the reality of the world.
What's the difference?
To # 3 & #4..as in the famous words of Helen Thomas.."tell the Jews to get the hell out of Palestine"..Torah observant Jews act like Jews. I am chareidi and saw the peaceful, moving demonstration on a TV by someone today. It was so beautiful to see Jews together. I love it.
how can the court force people to send their children to a specific school? it just does not seem "legal". Why can't the parents send their children to any school they want? Many times I have thought of sending my children to a different school than where they were currently learning. Someone must explain this to me. Please no sarcasm or nasty replies.
The court is trying to force the school to let them in - it is the school of choice for their parents. It is the racist parents of the school who wont let them study there.
Eleven of the 43 families being imprisoned are Sfardi. These Ashenazi and Sfardi parents refuse to submit to the court order to enroll their children in the non-charedi school. These Ashkenazi girls have been learning together with the charedi Sfardim all along. The charedi Sfardim also don't want to send their children to learn in the non-charedi school. The only racists here are the petitioner and the judge.
This Ashkenazic Jew has NOTHING in common with those who create their own religious doctrines of discrimination. Good for the Israeli court to shut them down.
Given his origin of birth, Moshe Rabenu was a Sepharadi. Would they also want to segregate his children? This is more Hillul and NOT Kiddush Hashem.
What is interesting is that the top of the top Ashkenazic Rabbonim are expected to take part in the demo while the Sephardi Shas Party has kept away. The whole issue revolves around the segregation of Sephardic and Ashkenazic girls. With a bit of genuine Daas Torah there should have been a compromise leading to two parallel legal schools, one following each tradition. I hope they find a solution and scrap the demo. Israel's had enough dreadful press coverage of late.
Aren’t these parents and teachers supposed to teach the girl s about Chesed, isn’t our Torah all about it. What do the girls learn by separating them? Obviously, these parents and teachers have no confidence in their teaching. These are supposed to be people who know the Torah, so how come they don’t realize what disturbance they create in haven and G-d forbid what they can bring down upon us. Didn’t they learn anything from the past? May HaShem show them the right way and stop them to use his name for their twisted purpose.
It is the secular state trying to dictate to the hasidim what they can, and cannot do. This has nothing to do with Sephardim vs. Ashkenazim. As the article has pointed out, there are Sephardi girls in the hassidic school.

will someone kick those ashkenazi Haredi scums out of israel. This situation is going to spread in the land of Israel and there will be severe problems. and anyone can tell what those stupids are sactifying in the name of GOD Just read and use your brains, dont publish
How distressing to see articles and pictures of these maniacal Haredi Jews. They are no diffferent from fanatical Muslims who believe in Martyrdom, segregation( different sects) and violence. I am deeply ashamed to be of the same religion as these takers who live on charity from Israel but denounce the authority of the Israeli state. Please G-d , get them out of there in one big flood with no Ark to save their disgusting lives. Israel must stand up to these excuses for Jews who are ruining the image of Israel and Jews with their disgusting behaviour. We are trying to muster support for Israel, not break it down. They are from another planet - I am proud to be Jewish except when I have to look at articles and pics of the Hardedi Jews fighting with Jews.
I think that the best way to deal with the problem is to build a separation fence , (similar to the one erected in the West Bank) we can call it branching fence, between the Ashkenazi and the Sfaradi schools .More work for the unemployed , stimulating the economy and happy retarded parents.
With a 'Grand Rabbi' in charge...
