Tel Aviv marathon runner dies as a result of severe dehydration
42-year-old man collapsed during Friday's marathon and died of liver damage as a result of dehydration.
A 42-year-old man who participated in Friday's Tel Aviv marathon died Monday after being hospitalized for severe dehydration.
The man collapsed of dehydration during the marathon on Friday and was brought to the emergency room in Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv.
His condition continued to deteriorate and on Monday morning he died due to liver damage as a result of dehydration.
During the marathon, 45 runners were hurt, most of them lightly. Two of those injured were still hospitalized in serious condition.
Some 18,254 professional and amateur runners participated in Tel Aviv's annual marathon on Friday.
