(1) Ultra-orthodox use political manipulation to maximize "benefits". (2) These benefits are not really beneficial. They are a life of poverty & seclusion. They lock yeshiva students in early and securely. Supposedly scholarly people cannot make a living anymore, like their grandfathers could. (3) It gets too expensive to maintain. (4) Seculars start getting angry and demagogic (5) Yeshiva students demand their leaders maintain the benefits because they have no other way of living (6) both sides go to war with eachother. We desperately need younger, smarter Rabbis.

Great !! First good news of 2013

Serving in the Israel Defense Force has in no way diminished my love of the Torah. It is totally absurd to say that the "Torah is in danger". The simple truth is that we may all contribute to Israeli society in as constructive, practical and democratic manner as possible. Being labelled as an evildoer and hater of the Torah as well as b, and love the Torah. Being threatened with what will happen to us on "Judgment Day" is at best a pathetic, empty pronouncement devoid of any love of the People of Israel. It saddens me to think that that I survived the Holocaust to have to read this inane drivel.
