Shalit supporters hold protest seder outside Netanyahu's home
Activists set Passover table with cutout of abducted soldier nearby, and only bitter herbs on display.
Activists fighting for the release of abducted Israel Defense Forces soldier held a mock seder outside of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's official residence on Sunday night.
This is the fourth year that the activists have held the seder to protest what it calls government inaction at securing Shalit's release from the Hamas militants who have kept him captive since a 2006 cross-border raid from the Gaza Strip. In the past, however, the seder was held outside of the prime minister's personal residence.
The activists set the table as if for a seder, with a full-size cardboard cutout of Gilad Shalit in the traditional empty chair, wearing a sign that read: "What is different about this night?'. But of the Passover symbols, only the bitter herbs were displayed on the table.
Shimshon Liebman, who heads the official campaign of activists, said that the Shalit family and its supporters were preparing to make some new decisions.
Liebman would not elaborate on that comment, but said that the family and the supporters believe that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would prove his leadership and act for Shalit's release.
