Samaritans, an ancient religious group, grilling freshly slaughtered sheep on Tuesday during the traditional Passover sacrifice on Mount Gerizim, near the West Bank town of Nablus. The Samaritan community in Israel, which numbers less than 1,000 people, is split between Kiryat Luza and Holon.

This year’s ritual sacrifice was tinged with sadness for the Samaritan community, following the passing last week of High Priest Aharon Ben Av Hisda. Nonetheless, several hundred curious local gathered to observe the ceremony.
