Rent control? Not in Israel

Why do you make such statements when you don't have the beginning of a clue of what you're talking about.... I grew up in Switzerland and my parents still live there. The prices of the rents are EXTREMELY regulated. My parents live in the same rented apartments for almost 30 years. As most people in Switzerland, they don't own a house. Not only it is not allowed to evict someone who pays the rent, but it's not allowed to increase the rent more than a very small percentage each year, and I even saw cases where after going to court because the owner wanted to increase the rent to much, some people actually saw their rent decrease. I now live in Israel for 4 years and I can tell you that the housing jungle here is a total mess and seems very uncivilised to me. And I think it's very wrong to put such pressure on people to own a flat. Because of the total lack of regulation in Israel people don't have the choice but to eventually make a commitment to pay a morgage for the rest of their life sometimes... and they might end up in very deep shit if for some reason they stop being able to pay and if the housing prices go down...
