Pregnant woman, unborn child killed in West Bank car accident
The collision occurred on the road to Bir Zeit when a car, driven by a resident of the Binyamin settlement, was killed after frontal collision with a Palestinian driver
A pregnant woman aged 32 was injured on Tuesday on a motor way near Bir Zeit. The woman, an inhabitant of the Mateh Binyamin settlement, was six months pregnant. The unborn baby was pronounced dead, despite the persistent efforts of paramedics on the scene.
The accident occurred when the car of a woman from Mateh Binyamin settlement had frontal collision with the Palestinian driver of a car coming from the opposite direction.
No one witnessed the accident and it is not yet clear which driver deviated from their route. The female driver, who was fatally wounded was evacuated by helicopter to Tel Hashomer hospital where she died from her wounds.
The Palestinian man was taken to a hospital in Ramallah in an uncritical condition.
The events took place just one week after the son of a retired Supreme Court Justice, Mishael Cheshin, was killed in a hit-and-run accident near Rosh Ha-ayin
