New government to promote contentious bill altering balance between Israel's Jewish and democratic identities

Worldwide, the republics and democracies and falling apart to the spread of tribal and family control of government. Monarchy is the natural order of people. The ultimate in the cult of the personality we all embrace. Israel will be a state of one people, one language and one will. Diversity is dead. Next will be the creation of a monarchy. It is the natural social order.

Haaretz might be one of the rare ones.

I think it's appropriate that signs in Israel are in Hebrew, English and Arabic. I think it's also appropriate for Israelis to learn Arabic in school. At the same time I think it must be made clear that Israel is a Jewish state and this is a prerequisite for any peace agreement.

These politicians have lost it.

As an American, I am Puzzled. Does your Knesset not have more important things to worry about? Like reducing poverty? Improving the economy of the country? Jobs for the young? Etc?

There is no place for religious law in a modern state where principles of justice, fairness, and due process become secondary. But surely Jews understand its impact more than most... History has not been kind to minorities with such laws.

Netanyahu, by nullifying Arabic's standing as an official language you are turning Israel into more of a racist country rather than bringing Israel into becoming a democratic country. But then again, you Netanyahu are the biggest racist alive today so it is not surprising that you would do such a pathetic low racist act.

Arabs have a place in Israel and full fledged citizens, and anything less would fly in the face of Jewish values.

The slippery slope gets steeper.
