Netanyahu vetoes left-leaning Israeli academic's participation in Merkel meet

Poor little Bibi is afraid of the nasty liberal. Can't hold your own in a real conversation, Bibi? Got to stack the deck in the usual right wing fashion. It is considered powerful by your deluded supporters, but it is WEAK!!WEAK!!!!

Netanyahu behaves like a dictator. He cannot handle dissidents, and blames them for his own mistakes.

During the Vietnam War, academics on the left, many of them American Jews, argued quite effectively against the success of US foreign policy in SE Asia. The result was our withdrawal from that region and the ensuing lustation in Cambodia followed when the communists won. Except for the cost both in lives and wealth, the retreat, a half-world away from the United States had no consequences on our national security. Geographically, Israel does have that good fortune. A Palestinian state created by a UN fiat instead of negotiation with Israel will guarantee future conflict. Ivory tower academics of the left should play no role as they cause more harm than good.

Let us hope that Professor Feldhay will show up anyway. Force Netanyahu into a corner! This is outrageous!

This is simply the military intervening and another indication that academic freedom in the Israel of today is in the toilet, along with so much else.

I have simply heard enough of this nonsense that Israel stands for the same values as the US and this is why we should support this Middle Eastern country. Penalizing those whose political views you disagree with is an attempt to SILENCE free speech, and the US taxpayer should not be funding a government that engages in this sort of behavior that would be unconstitutional in the United States.

Netanyahu has no right to do so and if he demands this, all Merkel has to say is that if you, Netanyahu, do not allow the left-leaning Israeli academic's participation, Germany will cut off all ties with Israel.

Academics and idealists are the worst people to discuss politics with, they think they have all the answers and know everything we don't because they study or they believe in an ideal. This is also supposed to be a meeting between heads of state with Merkal not unelected academics offering their advice.

During your tenure, the word diplomacy has not existed, haranguing everyone, trying to appear as a “macho” before the whole world but mainly in Israel where you need to have a bright popularity and acceptance. Basically you are bankrupt of ideas and bankrupt of scruples. Israel needs someone else right now and you are not the one!
