Moshe Silman in critical condition; renewed protests in Tel Aviv

Now that gotta be one of the stupidest things I have ever heard of.

When it comes to one's livelihood in flourishing economies such as in democracies like Israel, it's a fundamental right to have shelter, food and security. How can societies continue to neglect the impoverished sectors suffering continually year after year, when social safeguards should have been ready in place for their support? In capitalist economies there has to be the safety nets which in previous generations were clearly utilized. Israel once had the kibbutzim, public houses, moshavs, etc. and its a sign of a healthy democracy when these social safety nets are available for the needy public. Many of the families or individuals are on their own today, and therefore the levels of governments must work together to provide needed shelters. What's the point of building profitable housing, cultural centres, etc. when such stinging images of desperate people dominate the reality underneath? How does this induce the younger generations to marry, have children and faith that the government will intervene for their welfare should they one day be in dire straits?
