Massive fire burns down IKEA flagship store in Netanya

A massive fire raged Saturday morning in IKEA's Israeli flagship store in Netanya, completely destroying the building and the merchandise.
Police blocked the roads leading to the large Swedish furniture store near Poleg junction, one of the major junctions on the coastal road, as firefighters continued to battle the flames that were blazing since the early hours of the morning.
The fire, which according to initial investigation erupted in the eastern section of the building, is threatening to bring down the roof over the entire building.
Public Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch arrived at the scene with the international chain's Israeli director Avi Gabai and other officials to estimate the damage.
According to police there were no people in the building when the fire erupted.
Police are still investigating to cause for the flare-up.
