A Haifa man was seriously injured and his toddler daughter lightly injured as a result of an explosion in their car early Sunday.

Police forces rushed to the scene, with an investigation already underway as to what prompted the explosion, with preliminary reports claimed that the explosion occurred as the father was starting the car.

The man and his 3-year-old daughter were evacuated to Haifa's Rambam Hospital by Magen David Adom emergency crews.

Last month, three people were wounded from a bomb placed in a parked car in Rehovot.

Police suspected that the bomb was placed in the car of a man who is known to the police, and it went off as he was opening the car door. The man, aged 50, was lightly to moderately wounded and taken to Kaplan Hospital.

Two passersby who happened by at that moment were also lightly wounded from shrapnel.
