A Magen David Adom paramedic was shot and killed in Eilat in the early hours of Monday morning. The shooting was apparently unrelated to his work as a paramedic.

Moti Hakim, a 43-year-old husband and father, was shot on Eilat's Los Angeles Street, far away from his home.

The reason behind the murder is still unknown but police are investigating the possibility that it had to do with one of the other businesses he was involved in.

Hakim went to Los Angeles Street to meet a specific man. While they were speaking the man allegedly pulled out a gun and shot him four times: three times in the stomach and once in the shoulder.

Hakim was conscious and had a pulse as he was taken to Yoseftal Medical Center in Eilat. While undergoing surgery, he went into cardiac arrest and died.

His body has been taken into legal custody for an autopsy. Eilat police have established a team to investigate the circumstances of the shooting and have put a gag order on all information related to the incident.
