A gray whale, over 15 meters long, was spotted off the Herzliya coast on Saturday - the first time this species has been seen in Israel, according to Israel's Marine Mammal Research & Assistance Center.
Gray whales usually live in the Pacific Ocean, and it is still unclear what the whale was doing so far away from it's usual habitat, or so close to the shoreline.
IMMRAC said that the whale, which feeds on crustaceans that live mostly in shallow waters, most likely strayed from its normal migration path in search of food.

Jonas' Whale is back... Maybe it is a sign for the Jews of Israel to get back to their senses...
Just a thought, mind you. With all the volcanic activity in the Pacific Rim. It seems that the whales prefer quiet waters of the Mediterranean Sea. What the whales do not know, are the possible military issues facing Israel and her neighbors. Good day to all. Shavua tov.
the whale wants make aliyah
I see them every summer washed off the sea on Israel's beaches
We need to keep our seas clean. We need to create fresh food source for the wildlife and we will see more. We need to put a food source in the oceans and there are huge dead zones in the oceans now. I thought maybe taking a crate having seaweed or kelp growing on them and a bubble system in the dead zones with food source. Like during swin season putting old cow carcasses out for the sharks to divert their attention from the bathers some 50 miles out. Also putting up satellite recoil systems off shore lines to watch for sharks so they can maintain protection of swimmers. I know some have this but cow carcasses way out would draw the meat eaters away for safer life plan and also provide food source. Dumping ice on coral reef with a ship there off about 1/2 mile created life again and provide oxygen base. It cooled the water. The ships whole back end was an ice maker it just dumped ice every two hours the same sea water. What about the ice houses that use to be in the desert nations. They used salt water to create ice that made fresh water from the melt. I know they are all gone. Karoon-Rankoo Lamb
