Likud lawmaker: Jews should be allowed freer access to Temple Mount
Deputy parliament speaker says it is 'distorted' Israeli police makes it easier for Muslims to visit the holy compound than for Jews.
By Reuters Tags: Temple MountA senior lawmaker of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's right-wing party on Tuesday visited a flashpoint religious site in Jerusalem revered by Jews and Muslims, a move that has sparked violence in the past.

Under armed police escort, Danny Danon, a deputy parliament speaker, toured the site of an ancient Jewish temple, a plaza home to the al-Aqsa mosque, one of Islam's holiest sites, and said he thought Jews should be permitted freer access there.
A group of Muslim protesters shouted "Allahu Akhbar", or God is Greatest, as Danon, trailed by armed police and dozens of Israeli and Western tourists, strolled around the area known to Muslims as al-Haram al-Sharif, and to Jews as the Temple Mount.
But despite the tense atmosphere there was no violence or confrontations during the lawmaker's hour-long visit.
Danon told reporters at the nearby Western Wall, Judaism's holiest prayer site, before climbing up to the Temple Mount, that his visit was to mark Tisha B'Av, a day of fasting marking the day the Roman-era Jewish temple was destroyed.
Past visits by senior Israeli officials to the site at the core of the Israeli-Palestinian dispute have sparked violence, notably in 2000 when a visit by Ariel Sharon, then an opposition leader, set off a Palestinian uprising and years of bloodshed.
Disputes over the city have played a key role in hindering progress in U.S.-backed efforts to resume direct peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians.
Palestinians are angry at Israeli plans published in the past few months to expand housing construction in East Jerusalem, and destroy dozens of Palestinian homes Israel says were built illegally.
"I don't see any provocation here," Danon, a Likud party lawmaker, replied when asked by reporters whether his tour of the holy site in the old walled city may ratchet up tensions. Danon said he wanted a firsthand look at security procedures and to press the case for permitting Jews to pray at the site.
"There is full religious freedom for Jews and Muslims on the Temple Mount," Danon said. "But it is more difficult for the Jew than the Muslim to go and pray on the Temple Mount. This is a distortion that must be corrected."
"If Jews want to go and pray on the Temple Mount then they should be allowed to do it," he added.
Israeli police often permit tourist visits to the holy compound but discourage Jews from worshipping there, diverting them to the nearby Western Wall to try and prevent violence.
No Jewish worship took place at the site during Danon's tour on Tuesday, and all were under strict orders to avoid entering al-Aqsa. Afterwards, a small group of Jewish settlers said some prayers outside the compound's gate, where they intoned a Hebrew psalm that calls for the holy temple to someday be rebuilt.

All Muslims should have free access to this Muslim holy place. In practice they don't, since the IDF prevents Palestinians from the West Bank from accessing the site. Meanwhile, all tourists are welcome, no matter whether they are Christian, Jew or Budhist. Only extremists are banned.
Once more, as if it were necessary, the separation of church and state is shown to be necessary in a democracy.
What you call the Temple Mount has been a Muslim Holy Place for many centuries Are you trying ti revive the Crusades? What once was, is no longer, and never shall be again. So go plant your Temple somewhere else, or don;t plant it at all. But forget about the Haram Al Sharif. Your rebellious ancestors lost it for good in CE 70.
I guess you haven't been paying attention to how neglected it was until the Jews demonstrated its importance to them. And guess who won it back in 1967? Anti-Israelis are morons.
There will continue to be tension and controversy over the Temple Mount. As Zechariah 6:12-13 tells us Messiah, the Branch will build the temple. The mouth of the Lord has spoken it, so it will be.
Yes, Jewish people should be allowed to pray at the temple mount. al-Aqsa really isn't supposed to be there. What the hell are the muslims doing purposedly preventing the Jews from praying in their own land? (at the temple mount?)?
To attempt to rouble-rouse, only to find out that you ain't no Sharon. Danny, matey, the Palestinians know a non-entity when they see one; after all, they have to put up with plenty of 'em, and you are no exception. Love him or hate him, there is no denying that Sharon was always noteworthy. But you? You, not so much....
The ultimate sign that United States have truly lost it. How can one hope to win a war, if he refuses to even acknowledge who the enemy is?
Who is the enemy, the moslims? Or is 9/11 a private war between Osama and the rest of the world. As you might know Osama is a product of the US.
To all people of all faith . Not just the Chosen one. Democratic Values right not North Korea.
Entering the Temple Mount is a religious issue and should be left to Rabbis, most of whom oppose Jews entering the Mount. Sharon's visit didn't cause the Intifada. Like Kristallnacht it was all arranged and his visit was just an excuse for what had been planned.
For an Israeli newspaper to take an article from Reuters this way reveals its agenda as anti-Israeli. Just look at the way the article characterizes the site where THE HOLY TEMPLES stood as, "a site of an ancient Jewish temple." etc. etc.
There is not religious freedom for Jews and Moslems on the Temple Mount. If anyone believes this, try going up there wearing a Kippah and carrying a prayer book. Jews are forbidden to even look as if they are praying. As for the beginning of the article, more Reuters bigotry. The core of the Israeli-Arab dispute is the existence of Israel.
This is one issue the Palestinians need to give on. While I support a sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, it must give a guarantee of free access to the Temple Mount for Jews.
Freedom of religion
and the gold dome
It is of the utmost importance to understand that this ploy by danon and his ilk has nothing whatsoever to do with the rights of Jews to pray at a holy site. Nothing. This is a nationalist attempt to take control, something these circles have wanted to do since 1967 and thank god were stopped by the wisdom of moshe Dayan. They are not interested in prayer. They are interested in take over of the site and using it as a rallying point for ethnic cleansing. They cannot be allowed to continue. This is nothing to do with religion and everything to do with a take over and banishment and distruction of the Muslim sites and the Muslim population.
Chaplin lived out your worst koshmar on screen. Remember, thick bearded monsters... How is your dancing piroshky? Still eating soles of the boots?
Religious Jews know that they are not to go to the temple mount. Does this mean that this politico is calling for more access for secular Jews to go to the temple mount in order to pray? Why would a secular Jew be interested in such a thing? Just to provoke the Palestinians? When appealing to the lowest common demoninator in israel, one should remember that the common denominator is very low indeed.
ANY jewish/hebrew person would want pray at a place where the ARK OF THE COVENANT once stood has GREAT meaning TO Jewish people, is that hard to understand. Only YOU think about provacation, because this is HATE flowing through your veins.
"Fool me Once .... "
"Religious Jews know that they are not to go to the temple mount. " Sure, Rabbi Rabidly Anti-Semitic, sure.
Anything to provide you with titilation, dear. It seems to be a peak experience of your life.
My spiritual visit to the Temple Mount was ruined by the heavy handed Israeli police. They behaved like jewish visitors were criminals. I was made to wait for over 1 hour in the sun, they made of point of listing my name to show what an evil man I was. They physically manhandled me and pushed me; just unbelievable. Their attitude was truly appalling and indeed shaming for them and myself. Clearly access should include caution not to provoke, but it is a Jewish holy site as well and Jews should have equal access. If this leads legislation, so be it.
Poor you! Imagine what life is like for the Palestinians.
israel is showing once again its true face. it is obvious there is no place for peace in their agenda. they want blood. they want conflict.
They were all destroyed. And you are saying this Israeli politician demanding EQUAL access for Jews to JEWISH holy places in ISRAEL is proof that Israel "wants blood" and is the "bad" side in this conflict?
You mean religious equality even for it's majority?
Why do you say that? Jews visiting a Jewish holy site is not peaceful? Anti-Semites are morons.
This man has the same crazed psychotic eyes as the FM Lieberman. And he speaks in the same abrasive confrontational manner. Yes, this is the true face of Israel.
With Iron Dome at our backs it's time to look a bit more statesman like... No need to run stages.
And stop staring at me like that ! You look like a Junior Scientology Apprentice.
Or will they once again demonstrate that their claims to support civil rights are a pure mockery?
...of view, would Mr. Danon have been better served if his visit HAD generated some sort of violent reaction?
this is some secular nationalist power tripping. no religious jew would go to the temple mount. it's off limits. why does he insist on exploiting a position that doesn't even exist?
They have been building there on the temple mount with bulldozers and destroying antiquities from the first and second temple. They won't let archeologists in. The government should stop this desecration of our national and historic antiquities right now. Stop it now. The Muslims are trying to erase our history
You have dug more tunnels than Moles themselves and found nothing that proves the temple exists and by the way the whole world knows your big fat lie, its just that the world isnt ready to speak up. I salute the generations loyal to you who managed to make the world surrender to your evil deeds!
WHO is trying to erase WHOSE history??? Don't make me laugh!
Furthermore there is a pamphlet by Hussieni, that acknowledges that as the temples place. We have found many archeological proofs to the Temple. Read Josephus. Read history. It is amazing how Islam is a religion based on explicit lies
The world sees Two domes beleive it or not, One golden and the other Blue (Al Aqsa) name the all you want, they are not going anywhere nor are the palestininians
Do you want to be another Ariel Sharon? Remember God's wrath - it has not ended yet!!
This Danon, like all his nationalist cohorts is of the ilk that covers their lies and deceit in talk of the right of Jews, that the rights of jews are being denied and that the Muslims have greater rights than the Jews and this must be corrected. Danon is a liar and he is a deceiver because he knows full well that his provocative actions on the Tishe'B'Av has nthing, nothing whatsoever to do with Jews and their rights to pray. it has everything to do with a movement afoot in these racist nationalist circles to take over the Temple mt and do with the Muslims there what they have and are doing in Silwan and Sheil jarrah. make no mistake about it. This is an attempt to claim the site for themselves as a nationalist rallying point. Dayan had sense and historical understanding and forbade those advocating this insanity in 1967, but the numbers of these fanatics have ground and they are much more funded and that makes it more and more imperative to stop them and their propaganda. If this is not stopped Israel and these displaced moldovans and russians will bring about a conflagration that will engulf the entire region.
It is commonly refered to as World War III.
It is not a question of Jews worshipping at Temple Mount Settler Kahane. You have your own Temples and I do not believe G-d cares whether you worship him from your Temple or from a cornfield. But, I do believe that G-d decries you every time you incite more hatred by wanting fight over a place of worship no matter who it belongs to. Especially when it is in a city already overrun with so many Temples and Israeli soldier preventing Palestinians from accessing their Holy Places.
Please answer that. I am not a hateful person, on the contrary I am opposed to hatred which is why I post what I do. I am here as a counterbalance to the widespread hate post here directed at Israel and the Jewish people. You are right we have our own temples and the most holy one is the the Temple Mount where an illegal Mosque stands built by Muslim invaders who built on top of a Church built by Christian invaders. I am not asking for the illegal Mosque to be destroyed but for a new Jewish temple to be built. Why the opposition to building a Jewish holy place on top of the Jew's most holiest of places? It is you who is filled with hatred, not myself who only asks for civil rights of Jews in their own nation.
I think that G-d probablty prefers the cornfield with all His nature spread about it and devoid as it is of man's constructed crap. In any case He doesn't stand for the hatred inherent in Israel's present activities.
Last month I visited the Temple Mount. Kippas and tzit tzit are forbidden by the police. There is a big sign at the entrance that the Cheif Rabbi says it's not kosher to go there. It's our Temple Mount. Everyone should visit. It's beautiful sans the ugly Mosques.
Thats why its there, to keep your likes out
you're just a little jealous because the Mosque is the focal point in the city of Jerusalem.
and the 'heat' of Arab religious ferver out of the equation for a time following a war win. Israel needed a respite and the Arabs could mount yet another effort. He was wrong in doing so; there were other symbolic alternatives, but he was only a one-eyed general without insight into the consequences of his actions. More importantly, its up to Jews to assert themselves. Dayan left us a challange and an opportunity to change Islam for the better and in doing so create for Israel a lasting peace. When moslems finally beg the Jews to pray on the Temple Mount, then we know there is a lasting peace between them.
Why would a a specific place in our state be banned for people only because of their religion? Jews should be allowed to visit the holiest site of their beliefs.
All yu hav to do is ask permission of rhte people who know own the Haram. And show some respect, of course. Is that too much to ask?
Religious sects fight tooth and nail over holy places. Look at the way various Christian sects camp out in different parts of Christian holy places in Israel just to make sure that another sect doesn't take over their turf. In one church (the Nativity?), on sect has a space in the upper right front, another the knave, and another sect, another area, and so on. Each sect maintans a 24 hour guard to keep away encroachers of other sects from its paltry squire footage. If the state interfered and tried to set up a rational, equitable system, there would be a hue and cry from all. So, for centuries, the state in charge has left the status quo in place on the sensible grounds that it's not worth their time and energy. The Temple Mount is no different. Don't try to substitute any other system especially with the justification that another system may be more just or rational. The people who defend holy places to the death care neither for justice nor rationality, and the cost of dealing with them doesn't equal the insignificant benefit to be gained. We have better things to do.
the fences do not get built because someone needs an array of iron bars. They are built in our heads. It's time for you to tear your iron courtain and come down and deal with the denial of Temple Mount to Jewish nation. Nobody asks to shed blood. Just tear your walls buddy and deal with life as it is. Temple Mount is important.
There are some areas there that are areas that don't have the holiness of the temple. The religious Jews who knows which areas they can go into on the Temple mount without breaking Halachah should be permitted to pray there. Some rabbis do hold one shouldnt go on any of the Temple mount as a precaution though so as not to step on holy ground
Has from time immemorial forbade Jews from going up onto the Temple Mount. Rabbi Goren who wanted to see the Dome of the Rock and Al Aqsa destroyed ruled that there are kportions of the site where you can walk. That is not majority opinion. This change has been brought about by the lethal growth of religious nationalism for whom the Temple Mount is a supreme example of their dominance over anything Arab or Muslim and that is why they covert it. Their atteempts must be stopped at any cost or they will bering about a conflagration that is unprecedented and they will have no one but themselves to blame.
because you guys first ask to see .when we let you see.when you see you want to touch .when you touch you then ask to hold .when you hold you ask to share .when we share you ask to keep it all
"Jewish Law and Tradition Has from time immemorial forbade Jews from going up onto the Temple Mount." Sure, Rabbi Dumbshit. Sure.
"Jewish Law and Tradition Has from time immemorial forbade Jews from going up onto the Temple Mount." We all know which orifice you pulled THAT one out of.
Are you talking about Jews in Palastine or Palastinians in Israel?
We must undo Moshe Dayan's horrendous, historical mistake when he reinstated control to our holy places to the Muslim invaders who occupy it. A good start is to allow Jews to freely pray there and to build a proper Synagogue so they can do so like proper human beings.
We don't necessarily need the temple for that sacrifice and it is only once a .That is fair to the Muslims. Furthermore even if we are impure that is Ok for that sacrifice because the majority of the congregation is impure by reason of contact with the dead
The peace treaties Israel made with Jordan and Egypt should be required reading for all Israeli politicians. At least then they will be aware of what they are proposing to destroy when they propose abrogating the treaties.
At least you unlike your cohorts in crime admit that this has nothing whatsoever to do with Jews praying on the Temple Mount but is clearly an attmept to take over the site and destroy the mosque and shrine and lay claim to the site. This will not happen and if you and your kind attempt it then you will open a pandora box you will not be able to close.
When Jordan controlled the Temple Mount they dumped trash on the Western wall and banned Jews from Praying. I hardly think they are qualified to be consulted on this matter. Egypt has boycotted Israel since Camp David was signed. They are not committed to peace, only the fruits of the treaty (billions of dollars of US aid), no tourism of Egyptians comes to Israel, no trade, and hatred in Egypt of Jews is rampant and Egypt in facts produces the largest amount of Anti-Semitic litt. and movies world wide. These treaties are meaningless in that they have not encouraged peace because the Arabs leaders always have assured their citizens that the treaties are mere ploys to lead up to Israel's destruction. http://www.meforum.org/565/egypt-and-israel-a-reversible-peace
Where there is a can opener we will find a way to reseal it...
Don't use such large words like ILK. Bottom line, it is OUR country and Jews can go anyplace they wish. Try telling a Frenchman he can't go to the Louvre. An Indian he can't go to the Taj Mahal. Why does everyone only interfere with Israel. Butt out, Sully and your buddies. It DOES NOT concern you, unless you are a Jew or an Israeli. Capiche ???
And Christians should be permitted to erect a huge golden cross and a few saintly images a half meter in tront of the Western Wall. So much fo the Kotel being exclusively Jewish! Might even get the Muslims to contibute something. Then the Kotel would truly be free for all to enter and worship as they please.
this is some secular nationalist power tripping. no religious jew would go to the temple mount. it's off limits. why does he insist on exploiting a position that doesn't even exist?
Whatever else the argument for prayer on the Temple Mount is legitimate. No rationale to force everyone to hold like the ultra-Orthodox.
They should be permitted to pray. Many others religious people do stay off the whole mount as a precaution or because they don't know exactly which places we are allowed to tread on
Or is this the only area where you are concerned that non-religious Jews might sin? So concerned that you would have the police prevent those that wish to pray?
shows that a person can be right and stupid simultaneously
this is very true as I apologize for the misspelled and super fast type ins again let the students catch the mistakes of karoon. I run out of time per day. We have a situation to expand the worlds knowledge and to some even touching someones left hand is an insult . We have over 1000 historical religious sights that the world wants to just know or to glance at for educational ideals. this is just to even allow for future peace. I know you want alot of things kept sacred but really at this time we need to open the world to sharing a little more. There have been two generations in some countries who just sat in front of televisions and then some who starved to death who just now found out what a projector is. How do they know what being JEW or Muslim is? There has been no example the father, mother, grandmother, sister, brother died leaving them a lone. Yes security to protect old sites is absolute but what about a shepherd boy who gets to see the Temple Mount once in his life and goes on to tell generations in the Mountains about it. What about the one kids who sees a gun but got to see WALLE on a sheet on poles one time that being the only movie ever seen. Do you understand there are people still out there. We have people in Israel who still put moth balls over the 5 week old baby girl private area to ward off evil spirits and to stop the man from having her at age 15. Although the baby is burned and squalls and poisioned by the moth ball. Now has a hernia and a burn mark from crying so hard. Dehydrated and now affects brain capability. You have another person who saw my daughter jumping and playing and said she was so hyper must be out of control but where we live on a farm squeals and ideals are normal. The woman said she was wild because she asked questions and was excited about life while playing with her bunny rabbit. The other child mind traumaed do to the fact they always had to be quiet and not make a noise because of drawing war attacks or to much attention. Safety zone ideas change with war and continued war. Expressiveness and cheerleading go hand in hand. So a passive child seeing another child doing face freeze moments or being excited might think that odd so would the parent. We need ideals shared so not everyone or thing seems odd. Knowledge is power but it can also corrupt. We need to be careful not allow graffiti and we need to keep things aligned. Karoon 1st entry
It appears Israelis are constantly eroding whatever the Palestinians and Arabs possess, but the Israelis never give anything in return.
it seems, in Israel, that when a politician seeks free press and exposure he chooses to appease the Arab masses by provocation. The bigger the clash the higher the promotion and position. Danny Danon is seeking exposure now, nothing more and nothing less ....
the provocation here is that the muslims do not respect other religions. Due to Israel being so concerned about keeping the peace they are putting the rights of jews on the back burner. We need to put an end to the worry whether this or thaty would offend the muslims. its our country, its our holy places. The rights of jews to worship at the mount needs to be honored. the only reason that the mosque like any other mosque is built was the muslim way of showing strength. well that arab strength is over and done with. they build over the ruins of other religious holy places. wouldn't be surprised if mecca and medina was originally a synagugue or church too. end the craziness and allow all to pray where they like. the temple and its location were holy to the jews long before some guy came up with islam anway.
U Know Nothing Bout Abrahamic Relegions Do U?
children of Abraham
That was OK when we weren't around but now they should think about returning it or at least sharing it more. We can't really go in there today anyway according to Halachah. However the geture would be proper
actually, unlike most of the left leaning terrorist sympasizers on this site including yourself, i've read the entire koran. stop being nieve. stop thinking that if you side with the terrorists, maybe they'll like you more.
Which means remove all non jew and that aint happening cause your a too tiny population who claims God is with them and based on that You kill, steal and okay it according to your beleifs as long as its not owned by a jew :)
No, Muslims never took any of your places in Russia, Bielorussia or any plce in central and eastern europe. It is you who invaded Palestine
are the children of Ishmael and those of Isaac. What makes you think you are the only children of Abraham?
Yes, during the 1967 War, the Jews finally Reconquered the Temple Mount and when they reached it they cried out victoriously 'The Temple Mount is in our Hands!' What happened and why? Moshe Dayan must have been drunk with Victory when he gave in to the defeated WAKF and gave i them control of the site,,,! and now see what happens when Jews want to enter and pray? . iT DOES NOT PAY, not even when you see Arabs cry ...
Also most rabbis weren't against giving it back at that time. I guess the rabbis were shocked that the temple mount was in their hands after 2000 years. They simply couldn't handle the responsibility and were unprepared at that time to build the temple so they gave it back probably more as a reflex. If you were living then you would have understood better the shock of it all. Also Israel was a country of one in a half million people. They may have felt that if they keep it there would be another war very soon.I agree we shouldnt have given the WAKF the temple mount.
Just imagine if the Jews did the Jewish thing. There would be zero issues about east Jerusalem, zero issues about the Temple mount, etc. etc.
Dayan did not consult with anyone when he allowed the Waqf to continue maintaining their control over the Temple Mount. A great mistake. This has absolutely nothing to do with the made up facts that the rabbis agreed to give it back or didn't want to "handle the responsibility."
there was another war, and another, and another. But it wasn' about keeping the Mount. They didn;t keep ot. And there was anothe war anyway. And, by the way, I was living then.
when Jews must be accompanied by police to protect them while they visit their holiest site.
that is what people who washed your brain told you. It was never yours and never will be. You better wake up and try to build a better future for your kids instead. Israel is strong now but you do not know what the futre is hiding. Study some history. And I do not mean the history that you only believe in. The land belongs to the people who own titles to it and keys to their homes. Not to some religious myth.
I see arabs go freely all over Israel tel aviv Jerusalem. Why can't Jews go into Arab places and villages without police protection. Why are you guys so violent and selfish
" It was never yours and never will be." That's why there are so many Jewish artifacts uncovered there. Moron.
There is no Palestine mate thats the lie, they Arabs who live in Israel just like there are Jews who live in Iran!! Jews Have been in Jerusalem over 3300 Years, if u want proof look at the History Mate. :)
It is you who are the myth. I and millions of others pray for Jerusalem several times daily. Before Israel recaptured Jerusalem, Jerusalem was a barren wasteland. Only when Israel reclaimed it did it suddenly become valuable to you, just so Israel shouldn't have it. It tears the heart apart to see that the Temple Mount, the Home of Hashem, the L-rd, has become. As for your keys, you can stick it where the sun don't shine, because you will never, ever see your homes again. You need Palestinian leadership with the guts to tell your people straight.
You need to be saved from the day of Judgment. Pray to Jesus. Ask him to send you His Holy Spirit to save you from the eternal lake of fire in hell and to remove your hatred for the Jews. Jesus commanded those who loved Him to pray for their enemies. That is a major difference between a religious person and someone who truly knows God, as found in the Bible.
Talk to any historian and they will tell you the Jews are the original owners. In the future this Pagan moon worshipping temple will be replaced by a temple to the real G-d of Abraham. Allah is the moon god and not the God of Abraham. If you don`t like it you can move to Saudi Arabia and worship the moon god called Allah.
Did not Edward Said and Arafat (both Egyptian) carry keys around to their non-existent homes as well? Is it all the Hashish you guys smoke or what? Maybe you guys should switch to prozac? Just a friendly suggestion.
There is a simple logic: Muslims in the past never razed temples. they accepted the temples as the house of god and they just added some minarets and they converted them to the mosques. Do u want an example? what about Hagie Sophie in Istanbul? It was one of the greatest temple of christianity. What happened later, Mehmet the conqueror just added a few minarets and converted it to the mosque. That s all. Today, it is a museum. In the past some "clever" guys searched nearby Al-aqsa for the temple of solomon. There is a simple logic, if the temple had still stood or it was possible to renovate it muslims in the past would have done it. Al-aqsa is also the temple of solomon. synagog, church, mosque. they are all the house of god.
Adding minarets is just a cheap construction method. However for the Temple the Muslims ignored it and built on top of the Saint of Saints, and their feet continues walking on our holiest site. This is why we still cry today.
There is no archialogical proof to show that Solomon's temple stood beneath Harem-e-Sharif Compound - the Western Wall itself is not of the era of what Solomon's Temple would have been but a 4th century Arab style built wall. Also, the shape of the site itself is the wrong shape as according to Jewish accounts the Temple ran N to S whereas Haram-e-Sharif does not. Had a significant Temple or Church been in that spot Muslims would have done what they have always done and just erected minerets for the "call to prayer", maintained the structure carefully. For instance The Church of The Nativity in Beit Lahm. Even shrines maintained lovingly to Prophets holy to both Jews and Muslims which are in the West Bank, especially in Hebron for instance that have now been taken over by Jews, simply would not have been there had it not been for the care of Muslims over the years - remember it has always been located in a Mosque.
Muslims were adding the minarets not to demolish the building. as they were respecting it. So u cry for real estate, not for the name of the god. Well, move on crying. U deserve that...
The day expulsed Palestinians can go back and reconstruct their villages in historical Palestine, the Jews will be welcomed to pray with us. But for more than a century, we have experienced that with the Jews it's always a 'the winner takes it all'.-game.
If u want to see some great examples of Islam architecture, just visit Blue mosque, Selimiye mosque or valide sultan mosque in ıstanbul. Then, U may realize how stupid to cry for a small temple. (I am sorry to say that but ur sick way of thinking deserves that.)
...and al-asqa will be for all.
House of God. Well said. It points to the same God. So WTF is this all about. This is why I say that all religions and their follower's are crazy! LOL
2000 years ago, you killed a gentile who went into your temple. So today the Muslims put a guard on you so that you can walk out again in safety. Maybe they should revert to your old custom? Right?
What does it take for Israelis to acknowledge that they have no right whatsoever to go to the Mosque compound and falsely claim that they have the right to pray there? Its like Muslims going to the Vatican and demanding they should have a mosque there. The whole Compound is an Islamic mosque and it has been so for the last 1500 years and will remain a mosque until the day of judgment
Abu, The Israelis have no interest in entering the Mosque; if they damage aspects of the Mosque then you are right to be outraged. The fact that they simply want to visit the site and pray there should not be controversial. The same should also apply if Muslims wanna pray near the Western Wall; as long as they don't damage the holy sites then it shouldn't be a problem. As a person who thinks religions in general are poison, I couldn't care less. Plus you talk about Muslims going to the Vatican- well Muslims have been converting Churches into Mosques here in the UK in a relentless manner....what do u have to say about that?
and you only confirm the supremacism, which is in your very "holy" book. NO, Israel will never again wil be "Dar Al Islam". We had enaugh of being dhimmi. Now it is time for you to be our dhimmis (as long as you insist on the concept of dhimmitude of course). Actually Moslems DO want also the vatican. just ask some of your brethren.
The Fact that the Mosque was Built there is the biggest Provocation Ever!! The Jews have been there over 3000 Years way before Islam ever existed!!! Muslim's have there holy est places in Mecca & Medina!!! Also can you please tell me where it says Jerusalem in the Quran?
"Its like Muslims going to the Vatican." Except, when was the Vatican ever a holy site for Muslims?
So it is ours. Really you should be thrown out,but at least let the Jews who go on the periphery of the mount pray there. Many religious Jews won't go there anyway
So 1500 years is a bit of a stretch. This is when the Crusaders occupied Jerusalem. The Arabs and Europeans were all occupiers. The earliest owners of the site, that still exist, are the Jews. It is clearly Jewish property. If you want to see Muslim Arab property go to Mecca. I'm sure it's nice this time of year.
if the subject is israel there is no freedom. at least for the non-jews. if the israelis start entering there they will destroy it at the end. it is for sure. like the rest of the PALESTINE
This is the kind of scaremongering and mistrust that plagues this conflict. I do not deny that both sides committed massive strategic blunders that have cost the lives of thousands of people. But forgetting the extreme right, Israelis have granted Arabs a lot of freedoms, freedoms that are denied to them in other Arab countries. Moreover, you say "they will destroy it in the end". Have they destroyed the tens of mosques and shrines of other religions the way the Pals destroyed the synagogues in Gaza? I don't think so visitor. The Jews and Israelis I know have nothing against Arabs but simply want to live in peace (in fact ALL OF THEM agree to have a neighboring Pal state based on the 67 borders). Time for this scaremongering nonsense to stop.
open google earth, open the "history" function. close up to the Kabaa and the surroundings and look how muslims destroy their holiest site (not that i would care really...).
demanding to build a mosque right by the Church of Nativity. Oh wait...
It looks like some die hard Zionists on this forum are confusing facts and hasbara. There was never a mention of a temple in Jerusalem until the late 1920's following the British capture of the city from the Ottomans and the Balfour Declaration. The so called link between Zionism and the city is a modern day invention for political reasons
The holiest site for Muslims was originally a Synagogue that Muslims stole and defaced. Medina was a Jewish city until the Muslim hoards invaded it. Are there any Muslim holy sites that do not rest on stolen lands?
you see, scholar. Some nations made bet on numbers, others did on quality. Clearly the equation looks lopsided during wars. But it makes for such a gander when there is peace. You can say whatever you want, but even the fiery heat of your denial is betraying how much you admire our little nation. Deal with it.

This is too silly for words: I these churches had still been full of worshippers every Sunday they would still be churches. The only reason why these churches are sold is because people in the west stopped going to church. Why shouldn't muslims buy them and pray there if Christians no longer want to? There is nothing 'relentless' about it, unless you want to call the western process of secularization relentless.
"There was never a mention of a temple in Jerusalem until the late 1920's" You mean, the Romans didn't even mention it? Anti-Israelis are morons.
Not quite sure where you got this absurd cliam from but there was never a synagogue in Mecca and the Jews in Madina were a small minority living on the periphery. Its like claiming that London is Chinese because there is a quarter called Soho
can't the place be used by both, either through a time-share arrangement and/or through a space-share accommodation? We, in America, do so with Churches which provide for both Christian and Jewish worshiping in many places around the country. Why can't the Muslims, as a form of good will and a peaceful gesture invite the Jews to use the Temple Mount as well. After all, the place would not be sanctified to the Muslims if the Jewish Temple had not been there in the first place.
Jews for Jesus? It is forbidden by the Talmud for Jews to enter a chruch (especially) because Chritians believe Jesus is (partially) a God, breaking His unity.
issue of dominance for moslems, Allah being the moslem god. For Jews, the Dome of the Rock is built of stones from pagan temples; this is anathema to Jews. For moslems, the Dome and the Al Aksa Mosque is about turning away from worshiping in the direction of the G-d of the Jews and a turning toward the god of Mohamud in Mecca and is ademonstrative proclamation of their dominance and superiority to Judiasm. Just as moslems destroyed a Hindi Temple and built a mosque over a the god's birthplace; just as Catholics build cathedrals over Aztec Temples. Jews may agree to share in order to encourage moslems in their journey to monotheism. Moslems will not acknowledge Jewish priority in time and space or share since this is an acknowledgement of the validity of Judiasm and of their own recent pagan past.
# Dean, the amateur of Arabic linguistics 'Allahu akbar means 'God is greater' (than all); nothing about the Muslim God, Jewish God or Christian God. 'Allah' means 'God' in Arabic and is used by all as 'our' God is the same..'
No, Jesus IS one with the Father. Jesus also showed your ancestors that if they really did know God, they would have known Jesus. He pointed out, correctly, that they did not believe the words of Moses. Fortunately, many DID believe Jesus' words and got saved from hell. You first have to address your sin, which many refused to do. That is why they could not know God. Without addressing your own sin, you cannot know God, nor Jesus either, and the truth that Moses wrote about.
'Allah ho Akbar; does NOT mean "OUR" God is great. It just mean 'God is Great'. Also, historically there is no proof that a jewish temple ever existed at that place and moroever Mulsims have a shrine there to acknowledge Abrahim's -( the prophet of all monoethic religions ) act of Sacrifice as well as the belief that Prophet mohammad ascended to heaven from that pace. Jews does have a partial right over that place for being the follower of Abrahim. I guess I have no issue with muslim's and jews praying there together in harmony but the status Quo of muslim control over the place cannot be broken without major conflict b/w the 2 groups. I say it's not worth it!
Is this a joke? Israel occupies them, blockades them, steals their land and their holy city, shoots them, imprisons them, kills them, humiliates them, drops cluster bombs and shoots phosphorous shells at them, treats them as sub-human, creates laws that descriminate against them, and you expect the Muslims to so thankful for these actions that they will be thrilled with making good will offers and peaceful gestures? I assume you just made this suggestion as a joke, right? If so, it was a great joke. About as funny as the other responder that suggested turning the holy site into a time-share!
show me the place where we do it today and I will buy two first class tickets for us to to check it out... If Israel did it after 3 years of rocket bombardment to stop rockets... only Anti - Semite would blame nation for doing so. Any normal nation would do much more harm to anyone rocketing their civilian blocks. Only Israel waits for 3 years, like intelligent shy person would tolerate anything to keep whatever semblance of peace he can secure. And only Israel would tolerate the likes of Goldstones. When you try this type of medicine on normal nations, like Iran, they come back knocking on UN doors to replace the house with something more even – handed.
I think its discussing the Temple Mount is the most Holy place in the world for the Jewish People!! Israel & Jews should control all of The Temple Mount & hopefully will soon!!
Continue to dream.
We will.
We dont need to dream just to believe in G-D!! u will see one day soon the Jews will have there temple back!!
You would have said that in 1966 before Israel controlled east Jerusalem. and in 1947 before there was a Jewish state
How are you going to do that? If you try and take it by force you think Muslims are going to throw a few stones at you? Seriously, are you suicidal? All 1.5 billion Muslims are going to be united in stopping you...so immagine war against every country with a Muslim plurality...not gonna work out very well...which is why the Israeli government would never let you crazies do that :)
This wont happen and Israel knows that very well.
