Jerusalem Police on Thursday arrested two Arab youths suspected of desecrating some 25 graves in the Jewish cemetery on the Mount of Olives in recent months.
The two residents of East Jerusalem allegedly smashed the tombstones in order to steal the bronze casings in which mourners had placed memorial candles.
The Jerusalem court has extended both of their remands by a day, ruling that neither presented a danger to society. The court rejected a police appeal to keep the suspects in detention for longer.
Police are expected to make further arrests over the desecration of another 20 graves in the area of the cemetery reserved for sages.

After the Auschwitz sign being stolen followed by a howl of anguish about antisemitsm, only to be followed by the revelation that the neo-nazi's were in fact Polish petty thieves, another story of the allure of scrap. What is worse, to be the target of an enemy of the victim of indifference?
