Jerusalem honors convicted spy Pollard on 9,000th day of incarceration

The true traitors are the Bush family who grew wealthy funding and profiting off the Nazi regime, who aided Nazis against the US, who helped the Saudis, armed Iran (Iran contra), who trained and helped OSAMA bin Laden, who armed Iraq and left Saddam in Power and who later sold out the US to help Arab oil interests. All of this done by CIA and Bush family and even worse.

How is it that terrorist like Abbas jet set around the world like celebrities and heroes like Mr. Pollard end up in prison? Why is the traitor Vanunu allowed to be free while Pollard rots? Another example of Antisemitism.

Former CIA chief George Tenet claims, in a new book, that he was the person who prevented the release of Jonathan Pollard during the Wye Plantation talks in October of 1998. The talks, between then-Prime Minister of Israel Binyamin Netanyahu and then-head of the Palestinian Authority Yasir Arafat, were brokered by President Bill Clinton and focused on an Israeli withdrawal from most of the biblical city of Hevron. Why not release Vanunu in exchange?

Having assured itself of Obama's craven submission, it seems as if Israel has needed to stab him in the back. I realize that this is largely coincidence. The destruction of Arab homes in Jerusalem as well as the celebration of Jonathan Pollard are not actions in any 'conspiracy so vast', but is certainly an echo of past Israeli affronts to the current US administration. Israel seems oblivious to the arrogance of it's attitude towards the United States.

I realize that Pollard is a 'hero' to Israelis. The sale of RASIN to Israelis, as well as the sale of other classified documents to South Africa and Pakistan constituted a treasonable offense and violation of his oaths as well as US laws. He was not the worst traitor to ever spy against the USA, but he was one of the most damaging.

Israel did not acknowledge pollard was its agent It has not even declared him a "prisoner of Zion." and yet calls for his release? Personally, I think he should be freed.

That this call is even happening, let alone in public, is proof positive that Israel has vastly too much power in the American political system.

Pollard was not an Israeli when he committed his crimes. Neither was he a member of the Mossad or any other Israeli intelligence agency. He was one of many, many sources being run by Israel. The way sources are handled, not only by Israel, but by everyone is this: If they can help you, you nurture them. If they can hurt you, you kill them. If they can neither help you nor hurt you, you throw them away. This is the situation that Israel finds itself with Pollard. He has been thrown away all according to the rules. Israeli politicians don't really want Pollard back.

Given the wish of the Obama Administration to demonstrate that they are not Israel Bashers what better way than to show mercy and release Pollard.

What I find most laughable is the special prayer for his release uttered in certain synagogues before the torah is returned to the ark. The complicating factor for any intervention by Israel, is that Jonathon Pollard was spying for all and sundry, and just so happened to be spying for Israel, too, which enables him to play the Israel card. That being so, it is moot if Israel can have any more comfort in Jonathon Pollard's loyalties, than Israel has over Mordechai Vanunu's, even though Jonathon Pollard's contribution to Israeli intelligence was of genuine value.

His sentence is entirely out of proportion to that meted out to others convicted of similar offences.

Pollard keeps his personal enemies list (Pollards list) on his website. The list is described as people who could have done more to help Pollard but didn't. The list is comprised of a couple of hundred people, mostly Jews, mostly politicians, media, or Rabbis, mostly Israeli and American. It is a list of very powerful and influential people. What kind of lunatic would make such a list and publish it as his personal enemies? Talk about burning your bridges! When you say that Pollard is his own worst enemy, you are not just mouthing platitudes. Pollard takes that concept and elevates it out of sight. This the the third of a series explaining why Pollard will never get out of prison.

I understand that America is our ally, but what was done to Pollard is a severe wedge between us. Pollard was not given a proper trial. He was accused of leaking highly confidential information Israel, so that he can save lives. The court didn't allow any of his lawyers (despite their top level clearance) to know what Pollard was being accused of, or of what evidence was produced to accuse him of any crime. As far as we know, Pollard was accused of trying to annihilate the world. Why else would Pollard be the only spy in all of Americas' history to be imprisoned for so long. Without parole. Pollard should have been freed months after the incident. He was an allied spy. He wasn't some form of KGB trying to relay all of Americas' secrets to the Soviet Union. America clearly points out that he was an Israeli spy, and Israel admit it. What America isn't clear about is what 25 year old confidential secrets was he accused of sneaking that gives them the right to lock him up and throw away the key. As the land of the free, America is a hypocrite.

The level of damage can be gleaned from the fact that George Tenet, the former CIA chief, threatened to resign when Clinton thought to release Pollard because of Israeli pressure (1999). The problem with Pollard is that he never offered a sincere apology for his betrayal. He is a real stinker for the US. If Israel wants him out, let Israel catch an American spy and trade him for Pollard. But the man deserves his fate.

The problem is not that Pollard was unfairly sentenced to life in prison, it's that other people convicted of espionage were not given the same sentence or worse. I don't understand why Israelis (and some Jews in America) are fighting for his release, he's a spy that got caught.

Israel has recently expressed much disdain for Obama. However this is not a new revelation limited to Obama alone. Israeli disdain for the USA dates back decades. Pollard is just one example of how Israel has attempted to interfere with USA strategies. This disdain for the USA has continued with egregious actions against the Palestinians which interfere with USA initiatives to bring peace to the Middle East. Israel should not be considered an honored ally of the USA.
