Israeli panel recommends extra maternity leave for women in strenuous jobs
In Israel paid maternity leave is limited to 14 weeks - after it was extended in 2012 by two weeks. In comparison, Germany grants a 47-week maternity leave, Greece 34 weeks, Japan 26 weeks and France 22 weeks.
Women employed in physically demanding jobs should be given additional maternity leave beginning prior to giving birth, according to a committee of experts that advises the Health Ministry.
