State prosecutors on Wednesday indicted a 21-year-old man from Kfar Yafia in northern Israel on a slew of charges including rape and violent abuse of his 17-year-old girlfriend.

According to the indictment, the man and the girl, a resident of Nazareth Illit, became friendly in October 2009. Three months into their relationship, he began forcibly restricting her movement, forbidding her to leave home, even to take out the trash, without his permission.

He also limited her internet use and forced her to cut ties with her friends, threatening to beat her to death if she disobeyed him. Later he became increasingly violent, at least once slamming her head against the wall.

When the girl told the man she wanted to leave him, he threatened to kill her. After she became pregnant by him in February 2010, he demanded she abort the pregnancy before attacking her and jumping on her stomach. Shortly after the incident, she underwent a hospital abortion.

The man is also accused of recording raping the girl on his cell phone and later forcing the girl to watch the footage.

Prosecutors asked the court to refuse bail.
