An Israeli protester was injured on Friday after being hit in the forehead with a teargas canister during a weekly protest against Israel's West Bank separation fence in Bil'in.

The weekly demonstrations, which began over five years ago, have become a symbol of the opposition. They often end in clashes with Israeli security forces involving stones and tear gas.

Israel says the barrier is needed for its security. Palestinians consider it a land grab.

At Friday's demonstration, around 80 left wing activists and Palestinians gathered to protest the fence in the West Bank village of Bil'in.

A few of the protesters began throwing stones at the Israeli security forces in the area who in return attempted to disperse the protesters.

Participants in the protest say an Israeli man was seriously injured during the demonstration. The Israel Defense Forces responded to the reports, saying the man was lightly injured.

Can we form positive mind thougth groups to ensight non violence. Literally objective groups for social stimulas of the mind to distract terrorism all the time. Card clubs for men, cigar houses, non alcoholic beverage clubs and talk easys. We have tea houses of the past and coffee houses. Social organizations. Learning how to speak at functions without throwing clown noses. Etiquette lessons for men. Girl Scouts positive groups for young woman and girls. Crafts and artisans for non terrorism. With no social stimuli there builds rage and rage against the machine. Food, housing, not blocked life. Girls Scouts. Camp Fire Girls for the daughters not mind control groups. Field trips to zoos. Oh I forgot you blew up the zoo. Field trip to museums Oh I forgot you sold the museum pieces for weaponry. Rankoo-Karoon Lamb Magpro

Actually this Palestinian protester is an Israeli citizen, he is a resident of Jaffa, therefor Israeli. This implicates that the IDF, who are supposed to defend their representing people, are deliberately aiming for someone they should be protecting. Basically it means that Arab Israeli's, who have permission to go to Area A and B, are loosing their citizenship rights once they cross the green line. I don't believe that they were aiming for him because he is an Arab, i do believe they were aiming for him, and others because they were openly criticizing the Israeli policies, so far for the Israeli Democratic State....sigh

How can being hit on the head become a headline. Talk about non-news. I had better write in if I fall of my bicycle.

Israeli soldiers may not always be able to recognize a Pal, but the Pals will always know who the Israeli is. In this case obviously The Israeli was hurt by a rock flung from a Pal sling.that will teach him not to protest the anti terrorist fence.

It's not a question of whether he's seriously or lightly injured

The question is why are IDF soldiers firing tear gas cannisters AT people? Because despite what the usual bunch of apologists are going to say, tear gas is NOT supposed to be fired at people, it's supposed to be fired near them and upwind from them. This crap happens too often for it to be "incidental"!

This has to he a case of mistaken identity. The "righteous" IDF soldier obviously thought he was aiming at a Palestinian protester. Maybe this person can get a hospital bed right next to Tristan Anderson who after more than a year is still in vegetative state. "The Israel Defense Forces responded to the reports, saying the man was lightly injured." Lightly injured after being hit in the forehead with a high velocity tear gas canister. I suppose the next thing they'll say is that the man jumped and got in the way of the canister. Israeli society is sick. Those who stand by and say nothing are as bad as the people who commit these heinous acts.

With regards to the video: it isn't the case that soldiers responded to stone throwing by trying to disperse the protest. Rather, tear gas was thrown almost immediately after the protest started, without any incitement from those demonstrating. Although there was stone throwing later, this was a response to the completely disproportionate action from the Israeli soldiers. I am disappointed that Haaretz chose to post such an inaccurate and dare I say it biased account of what happened.

The fence was supposed to be moved from here by the High Court order some time ago! Talk about a joke to the rest of the world. Even in the US, the failure of racist Southern governors to implement Brown v Board of Education was resolved in less time. Certainly there was as much blood. Oddly enough, there were Jewish protesters beaten by racist cops then too! Get on the ball Israel, you're worse than 1950s ex-confederate states.

As a born Palestinian, my sympathies go to this Israeli hero, who was hit by and severely injured by his own army, supposed to protect him. It is time for the honest Israelis and Jewish in general to stand up against land stealing in the West Bank and end this fascist government of Natanyahu and Lieberman once and for all! If somebody will be negatively affected by this madness made in Israel, it is the Jewish people all around the World, including Israel itself. STOP IT NOW!!
