After initially treating the event as a brawl, police on Sunday for the first time referred to the attack on Palestinian youths by dozens of Jewish teens in Jerusalem early last Friday as a "lynching."

05 0 0Why Lynching, and why no cops?
- By Ephraim
- 20 Aug 2012

Lynch definitions: to put to death (as by hanging) by mob action without legal sanction Miriam-Webster to put to death, especially by hanging, by mob action and without legal authority. dictionary.com Why use the word lynch? For sensationalism? The word attacked is not enough to get headlines? That being said, the "attack" is a disgrace, and those responsible should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. I would also like to know how these kids' parents raise their kids. I am no left wing nut, far from it, but attacking innocent people means these kids come from very hateful homes. My biggest question is WHY ARE THERE NO COPS patrolling this area? Everyone in Jerusalem knows that Kikar Zion (Zion Square) is a hangout for drug addicts and trouble makers. Citizens and visitors (Arabs included) should be able to walk in this center area without fear of attack or bodily harm. I guess the cops are too busy hiding on the sides of roads to reach their quota on traffic tickets. Get the cops there NOW, and leave them stationed there all the time. Ben Yehuda Street, which is one of the main areas for tourists, is a toilet bowl, between the thugs and the beggars. Every city in the world polices tourist areas. While these attackers are the most at fault, the police also need to step up and take some responsibility as well. This is not the first time an incident has occurred in the exact same place. Time to clean up our city, and this central location for locals and tourists alike is a good place to start.
