A tree species with a celestial name is wreaking corporal havoc on the plant life of Israel's capital city.

My gardener told me this tree was introduced by the British! and commented: "one more reason to dislike the British". I am cutting it down in my garden and poisoning the stumps because else it will come back again. It has long roots underneath the soil and can come up at any place you dont expect it. I pull out every seedling, that;s how I found the thick roots under the ground. And it is true, other plants can't grow there anymore.It has a peculiar smell, I first thought it was related to marihuana. Perhaps somebody finds out it has hallucinatory properties when you smoke it - then there will no doubt funds be found to eliminate it as part of the war on drugs
