Golan schoolchildren find rare toad
After taking pictures of the amphibian, the children returned it to the wild hoping it would spawn a new generation of Eastern Spadefoot.
Schoolchildren at the Avital elementary school at Kibbutz Marom Golan, in the Golan Heights on Thursday, found an Eastern Spadefoot (Pelobates Syriacus), an endangered species of toad. Last year, tadpoles of the same species were found near Kibbutz Gaash in central Israel's coastline.
