Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman to resign over indictment decision

For the many things that are wrong with Netanyahu and his government, this is one decent thing that has come out of the whole mess.

I personally believe that Mr. Lieberman is as qualified for his job as any bouncer would be for a top level political appointment. However, when I read above that the PM told him that he hopes Lieberman "proves his innocence," I was shocked. Is there no presumption of innocence until guilt is proved beyond doubt in Israel?

Of all the politicians in Israel, and all their ambitions, there must be many more that can be charged with fraud because after all, power abuse is done with the cooperation of others.

Lieberman's thuggish persona has given us a vivid insight into the pathology and immorality of the right wind settlement hubris which is rampant nowadays in Israel.

Great news. Lieberman is ill mannered thug, a mafia style hoodlum that is a real danger to the peace in the Middle East. Hopefully his boss will be next...another thug!

Lieberman demonstrates a mature behavior as a politician. It is likely he will be back after elections.

bring on livni that the other world leaders love....let tzipi deal with these forces now...she will see how ridiculous they are and they will see how she herself cannot bring peace when the arabs really dont want peace....I like it... i liked lieberman in that he was a direct no nonsense man who stood up to the foreign ministers of other countries who so hopelessly misrepresent the facts of the situation...livni has her work cut out for her...but, maybe now the other foreign ministers will have less to complain about....they wanted livni, they will get her...it wont change a thing.

Finally, when I lived in Tel Aviv 3 years ago there was attempt to accused him of the fraudulent, but as usually it went idle. Finally this persona needs to ended up in the prison, making the space for the Israelis to create peace with the Palestiniens

You can be ethically flawed beyond a doubt but still be a successful Israeli politician and statesman, as long as your fanaticism for the cause in unchallenged. This anomaly starkly distinguishes Israel from the other so-called civilized countries. As long as your dishonesty is only used for your personal benefit you can be excused. Unfortunately these individuals are dishonest in all their dealings and will eventually bring shame to all their enterprises including the State of Israel. And of course, if you criticize these individuals you can be labelled as an anti-Semite.

Personally, I doubt that Lieberman will actually resign, but if he does this will be a breath of fresh air to Israeli politics ... and to the ethical foundations and principles of our Zionist state.
