Five Palestinian children die in fire in West Bank village
Preliminary investigation finds that fire broke out after candles were lit due to power failure; four others hurt in blaze.
Five Palestinian children were killed in a fire overnight in the village of Kaffin in the Tulkarm region of the West Bank.
Four other people were hurt in the blaze.
A preliminary investigation has found that the fire broke out after candles had been lit following a power failure. The children, three boys and two girls between the ages of 5 and 12, perished in the fire that erupted in their room of the two-story home.
The children's father, mother and older brothers were hurt when they inhaled smoke while trying to rescue the children.
Fire engines and Red Crescent ambulances were summoned to the scene of the fire.
