An man from the southern town of Arad was arrested on Wednesday evening on the suspicion of murdering his 30-year-old wife.

A passerby saw the injured woman lying on a street and called emergency services.

Rescue personnel arrived at the scene and found that the woman had a severe head injury. They tried to resuscitate her but she was pronounced dead after a short time.

The deceased woman had complained in the past to police about her husband.

Also on Wednesday evening, an Eritrean refugee in Sderot attempted to murder his wife. He turned himself in to police believing he had killed his wife but when police went to his house they found the woman alive with a power cord wrapped around her neck.

The woman said she had pretended to be dead after her husband attacked her. She was transported to a hospital for medical care.
