Israel Police find gun gifted by Saddam Hussein
Confiscated pistol engraved with the words 'a gift from the president of Iraq, Saddam Hussein, for defending his homeland.'
Israel Police have discovered a 9mm pistol apparently given as a gift by former president of Iraq Saddam Hussein, Israeli media reported on Thursday.
On Wednesday, police pulled over the driver of a car that appeared suspicious in the Israeli Arab city of Kafr Qasim. Upon searching it, police found a weapon with an engraving in Arabic that read: "A gift from the president of Iraq, Saddam Hussein, for defending his homeland."
The gun was confiscated and the 17-year old driver was arrested for illegal possession of a weapon and for trying to escape custody. The driver said he knew nothing about the gun and denied any ties to the Iraqi regime.
