Fearing party takeover, Likud wary of Lieberman’s return
A group of Likud activists wants to tweak the party's constitution in the foreign minister's favor; others propose strengthening Netanyahu's leadership.
Likud officials fear that Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman’s supporters in the party are preparing the ground for him to take over. This is because a group of Likud activists is demanding a change in the party constitution that would shorten the waiting period between the registration of new members and their becoming eligible to vote from 16 months to six.
