Israeli council head denies backtracking on UNESCO pledges
Hanan Erez says he is promoting a municipal by-law for conservation in the Ramot Menashe region, not going against UNESCO, as Israel Parks and Nature Authority claims.
Two years ago, UNESCO recognized the Ramot Menashe region as one of its international network of biosphere reserves. But now, the Israel Parks and Nature Authority is accusing the head of Megiddo Regional Council, under whose aegis it falls, of backtracking on pledges to UNESCO.
