Most Tel Aviv councilors want shops to stay open on Shabbat
Following Supreme Court ruling, city has to change bylaws to maintain status quo. While most councilors want stores open on Shabbat, they disagree on the optimal extent of commercial activity.
A large majority of the Tel Aviv city council is in favor of changing municipal bylaws to allow supermarkets, groceries and snack shops to remain open on Shabbat, Haaretz has found. However, the council members are divided over the extent of Saturday commercial activity.
