Nasrallah: Israel lost its power of intimidation
Hezbollah leader accuses Israel of trying to intimidate Lebanon with the threat of a new military offensive.
By Jack Khoury Tags: Hezbollah Hassan Nasrallah Israel newsHezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah accused Israel of trying to intimidate Lebanon with the threat of a new military offensive while addressing a conference in Beirut on Friday.
The conference, held at the UNESCO Palace in Beirut, brought together Arab and international resistance organizations.
"Israel lost their power to intimidate during the second war with Lebanon," Nasrallah said. "They are trying to regain their power of intimidation by threatening a new military offensive against Lebanon and against Palestinians in Gaza."
Nasrallah also attacked the U.S., saying that the American and Israeli plan to change the face of the Middle East and the entire world failed after they didn't succeed in Lebanon and Gaza and also in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The Hezbollah leader stressed his organization's will to fight Israel and the United States. "Resistance forces will ultimately triumph. We will come out victorious and change the face of the region. The Israeli entity will disappear and American sovereignty over the world will vanish, and we will triumph. I appeal to all the international organizations to support us in order to achieve this victory," Nasrallah said.
"The real danger to the world's resistance movements is the attempt to distort reality and to place the blame on the resistance groups' actions without allowing them to portray their perspective, thus ignoring the reality of the occupation and the siege, like the situation in occupied Palestine," said Nasrallah.

"Let`s just say that maybe Israel lost a few tanks, Lebanon lost most of their infrastructure and half of Beirut, a real great victory for Hezbollah" I never said Hezbollah won the war, I was under the impression that, really, neither side was a victor. But Ben, I don't think destroying the enemy's infrastructure by air makes you a winner. All it proves is that you have an air force and the other side doesn't...
I don't care if it three or thirty years ago, if you're going to quote some alleged something, it's worthless without the source and link Let's call it what it is, gossip from unsubstantiated or alleged sources BTW- HaAretz has many personal opinions posted, reflecting all the facets of the spectrum, so just because one person or two wrote somehting that doesn't mean they know what they're talking about Let's just say that maybe Israel lost a few tanks, Lebanon lost most of their infrastructure and half of Beirut, a real great victory for Hezbollah, leaving thousands homeless because the bastards did the usual, hiding in the midst of their own civilian population
It was over three years ago, after all...I can't remember exactly when it was published in Haaretz. But I do remember the article saying that the IDF did not accomplish what had been expected of them in Lebanon 2 (I don't know the reason why) and that the Merkava tanks caught on fire too easily, and the IDF had to withdraw without fulfilling their mission, and that was probably because the mission was not clearly defined by the top people in the first place...
At time you have memory problems, so be good enough to post the exact citation, link and all for my perusal It's not that you read it that matters, what counts is who wrote it So be good enough to follow up with the required link
"Where and when did the Israeli Government say what you allege??" "Even the Israeli government admits it lost the Second Lebanon War" I read it right here in Haaretz, Ben.
For goodness sake, check some "Impartial" history books Syria, along with 5 other Arab countries, invaded Israel in 1948, and got their pants beaten off Same stunt was tried in 1967, Syria attacked Israel again, along with a few of it's allies, same results, Syria, Egypt & Jordan got their tails whomped 1973, well everyone know who started that, Egypt & Syria, resulting in the loss of the Golan for Syria and the Sinai for Egypt You must stop believing the Tales of the Arabian Nights, they were fantasy, as is your post
Israel starts wars against Arabs on regular basis. Every two to three years, the israelis kill many thousand Arabs... So what did we, Arabs, learn of this? We learned that israel does what it wants because it feels powerful. israel taught us that we need to develop our defensive forces and, most importantly, our own nukes. The weak (=we arabs) will always be attacked because we have the resources and the lands that other people want to steal. If we Arabs want to stay alive there will be no alternative to having our own nuclear, biological and chemical weapons of mass destruction. I do not believe in "peaceful" peace. I believe in mutually assured destruction. This will bring peace...
he is smart to hide out of sight due to the large presence of Mossad operatives in lebanon who would like to assasinate him .He is just being prudent. In ref. to the provocations , the IAF flies daily over Lebanon , that is provocation enough , not to mention that Israel killed Nassrallah's son , and many friends...Israeli killing is always viewed as legitimate and necessary while the other side's unfortunate killing is viewed as evil and bad. there are two stories here . One is heard and one is dammned. Hassrallah is right , the Arabs are no longer afraid of Israel . look how little kids in the West bank stand up and scare fully armored IDF soldiers.....Who is afraid of whom?????
you keep on shooting yourself in the other one because you make statements off the cuff without botherring to check them out, an old habit of yours Where and when did the Israeli Government say what you allege?? "Even the Israeli government admits it lost the Second Lebanon War"
He'll disappear from view at the earliest inklings of a new war He's all for blood and guts, just as long as it's not his
If Israel has lost it's power then why have you and the other fanatics not pressed the attack against Israel? is that a tail I see tucked between you ass cheeks! Nasrallah you have had your balls blown off, you are powerless... you are nothing more than a subnote in the history of the middle-east while Israel is the Headline!
if hezbollah had the same military capabilities as israel i think every israeli would be in their own bunker.its funny to see such belligerence from israeli expatr iates all over the world.what are you doing sitting on your duffs in your living rooms so far from any threats of violence spouting childlike martial threats.who are the evil ones?grow up and treat others as you would wish to be.its that simple.
So many vieweres are taunting the fact that Nasrallah is undetected by the Israelis. I dont understand the logic behind this. It's clear that Israel has a long history of violating international law and assassinating individuals outside of its borders.
So if Israel no longer intimidates, may we assume you have come out of hiding and are walking around freely.
I wasn't aware that ensuring Nasrallah was hiding was a central goal of Lebanon2.
got whipped, still hiding and he wished he never did it. PS he said so. the UN is in Lebanon now with the Lebanese Army which was afraid to be in the South.the border is quiet. Lets see if he starts again. would be interesting.
border infiltration to kidnap and kill few soldiers was that Israel Government was led by the corrupt, incompetent andselfserving Ehud Olmert and the incompetent Amir peretz with military experience as a truck driver who did not even complete his IDF service. Olmert, was an accidental PM after the stroke suffered by Arik Sharon. Olmert on its own would never formed Kadima and would have never becaome a PM. Nesrallax knows it. Thats why he is in hiding making DVD's boasting victory. When Ahmedinejads regime falls Nesrallh will be kicked out from his hiding in Irans embassy basement.
Ok folks if Nasrallah was so brave and he won the war why oh why does he not let people know where he is.I do not see the Israeli leaders in hiding.
Lefties, including the muslim in the White House, would like the UN to become a world government. Meanwhile the OIC has become the owner of the sorry organization, which hires Goldstones, plans to make criticism of Islam an international crime and now openly hosts terrorist conferences (as part of its agenda to promote 'culture and education, I suppose). Way to go, liberals!
If we consider that Lebanon, having an inside force like Hezbollah, sees Israel as enemy and a threat as such (and not only because of some warning statements by Israeli officials), then your words actually gain a sense of truth: "And THAT is exactly what Hizballa wants to eliminate. No more no less." Read Hezbollah's charter.
It is Nasrallah who is constantly making the threats and goading Israel.
enjoying the sun, snow and great view! though you are trying sooo hard, you do not know his whereabouts, so u presume he is in a bunker... pathetic!
When exactly was that Silvienne? I seemed to have missed that bulletin. Are you sure you weren't watching Al Jazeera
This guy doesn't see much daylight.Too scared to show his face in public. Most of the time he hides in some very deep bunker,or hides in the Iranian embassy in Beirut.Miserable coward.
Don't threaten the US, Nasrallah, or we'll send our Olympic womens kickboxing team to teach you a lesson.
All I read about is Nasrallah mouthing off. The Israeli leadership is quietly going about its daily business. The economy is okay. The defenses are in place. Just waiting for Nasrallah to make his move. He is itching for a fight. Why ?
rallah sprout wings and fly. Nasrallah will eventually feel Israel's power and there will be one less porcine terrorist on this earth.
The question is not whether there is any truth in Mr. Nasrallah's statement, but whether he believes it, or not. If he does, then we should calmly prepare ourselves for further fighting in Lebanon. If our security services think that he is only intent in trying to rally the pride of Hizbollah, then what part of our resources should we devote to refuting his boast, should we bother to do so at all?
After all, Barak's office is at the top of a Ramat Gan office tower, lets see the heroic Nasrallah do likewise, and be sure to fly nice green and yellow Hezbollah flags from it!
The last two wars Israel has lost, Cast Lead and the Second Lebanon War shared common failures. The government was waging those wars for political reasons, not because the war was necessary. As a result in both cases a strategy was pursued aimed at inflicting pain and suffering upon civilian populations and destroying infrastructure to cause the population to turn on the group which Israel (before the war) stated it intended to destroy. The reason for this strategy is that the government of Israel understood that it HAD to keep casualties low in a war which was not necessary for national survival. You cannot root out folks like Hamas or Hisbollah without getting down and dirty - and that means taking casualties. Attacking the civilians does not turn them against those fighting back anymore than the Blitz turned the British against the RAF. . .
He sounds like the Iraqi foreign minister proclaiming the victory of Saddam Hussein's forces over the americans back in the day. pathetic sabre rattling . Go back to your hideout.
and what did Hezbollah accomplish? apart from loosing a 1200 soldiers and squeezing the Christians in Lebanon?
Israel, and the west have learned, never listen to what an islamist says. Listen to what he doesnt say. Avoids wasted effort, and defeats the sworn enemy every time! Something "Nasty" Nassy has not learned.
was the arab league crying everywhere they could, to stop the IDF from finishing what the hasbo has started
West has learned, never listen to what an islamist says. Listen to what he doesn't say. Acting accordingly defeats them every time!
The only ideas we hear from welfare state leaders is "destroy", "erase villages", "kill civilians"...and so on. Abou economy, at least we are not waiting every year for USA dollars. (Did you created more schools, roads, factories?) You seam very ignorant on this one, so let us keep it this way. (Only devided the country and destroyed it by war) yes right, in 1978, 1982, 1993, 1996, 2006 and all the assassinations and wars in between all this done by Hezbollah, how ignarant. You talk like arab regimes use to talk 30 years ago. Keep going....yallah
Nasrallah is still hiding in his bunkers being the weasel that he is. If what he says is true then why is he hiding. The reason is he knows damm well if he shows his face to much or his schedule becomes known he will be killed very quickly. This headline is just more bravo from a true coward.
Israel had a number of stated objectives at the start of the war. These included bringing back the captured soldiers, stopping the missile threat to the home front, and destroying hezbollah's military capacity. most people (including Israeli government officials) agree that not a single of these goals was met: the missiles were never stopped, and their frequency only increased towards the end of the war; Israel did not free its soldiers, but was forced to trade with Hezbollah; and Hezbollah has been reported (by Israel) to have increased its military capacity to beyond what they had during the last war.
the Israeli armour column failed to reach their objective, the Litani River. They only advanced 5 miles, about 15 miles short of the river.
This fascist knows about intimidation. The "resistance" decides what goes down in "democratic" Lebanon. The events of May/08 should dispel any doubt if there possibly could have been any to the most generous of observers. And his orders come from the peaceful, democratic and humanitarian regime in Iran. So everybody must believe him. And Unesco is the host. Is this all a Monty Python sketch?
Poor Nasrallah. His whole reason for being is to fight against Israel. Israel's withdraw from Lebanon was his worst nightmare. Israel wants nothing from Lebanon, holds no Lebanense territory (according to the UN) and no Lebanese citizens yet Nasrallah continues to desperately try to find a reason to start another war.
He only brings misery on Lebanon
Your words are threats. Lebanese will not tolerate threats. And THAT is exactly what Hizballa wants to eliminate. No more no less.
That must be why Nasrallah said in an interview with Al-Jazeera in August 27 2006 "In an interview with Lebanese television last night, Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah said: ?We did not think, even 1 per cent, that the capture would lead to a war at this time and of this magnitude. You ask me, if I had known on July 11 . . . that the operation would lead to such a war, would I do it? I say no, absolutely not.?" And then he didn't show his face for many months afterwards. No, he's not intimidated, LOL http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/middle_east/article621396.ece
Nassrallah and the other "international resistance orgs" must have enlightenef the audience with a lot of education, science, abd culture to receive UNESCO support. Remind who is paying UNESCO to fund and support terror meetings?
"If Hezbollah "completely checked" the IDF, then please explain how the IDF managed to advance deep into Lebanese territory" Even the Israeli government admits it lost the Second Lebanon War...
... with Israel. The blind policy of preparing for war, under the illusion to somehow defeat Israel, could lead in the future to a casus belli and consequently to a war that would be a great disaster for Lebanon itself. Lebanese are well-advised to avoid every kind of saber rattling toward Israel and instead try to improve the relations with their direct neighbour so that they can continue to enjoy the relative calm they have since july 2006. It depends on them.
Then why is he still hiding under the rocks?
If Hezbollah "completely checked" the IDF, then please explain how the IDF managed to advance deep into Lebanese territory.
We always hear about israeli leaders crying to world about something new each week... No one fears a baby.
Not only does Mr. Nasrallah not lie, but he transformed a ragged band of guerrilla fighters into the world's foremost paramilitary/resistance organization; the ONLY one to have COMPLETELY checked the full might of the IDF during the 30-day struggle that was Lebanon II. Moreover, everyone knows (including the IDF general staff) that he is ABSOLUTELY committed to his cause, and ABSOLUTELY incorruptible in its execution ... and that makes him a man not to be taken lightly.
And he and his Party of God will deliver it.
And this is from the same guy who didn't raise a finger to help his Hamas brothers during Cast Iron?. Sorry Hassan, I believe that is the very definition of "intimidation." Talk is cheap. The facts speak for themselves. You lose again.
We all saw what happend to the Hanit
"The real danger to the world's resistance movements..." is the fact that their most prominent supporters are leaders who are destroying their own countries (A-nejad and Chavez). Back when Arafat was at his peak at least he had world communism which was a powerful movement and had some ideological energy. Also, when "the world's resistance movements..." restricted themselves to Jews only, they were able to carry on the charade. But now that everyone is fair game (Christians, atheists and any Muslims who disagree) - the cry of "resistance" is increasingly falling on deaf ears. Finally having gained a legitimate foothold in governments (see Iran and Venezuela), failing their own people miserably, and increasingly using the Stalinist playbook, the world's "resistance" movements look like used car salesmen caught in a swindle.
We don't hear from Nasrallah any different ideas and direction. His speaches are same with different words obsesed with hate to Israel. One should ask himself to list one by one what he did for his country. Did you advanced the economy? Did you created more schools, roads, factories? Only devided the country and destroyed it by war.
losing traction on all fronts...nothing can save you now
Is the Middle-East ever going to see stability? What the hell is going on. Everyone is up for a fight. How about some peace guys.
...the hero of the bunker.
This is actually funny. A guy who spends 99% of his time in hiding claims that he is not intimidated. What irony!!!
