Nasrallah: 'If you hit Beirut airport, we'll hit Ben Gurion'
Hezbollah leader threatens to attack Tel Aviv in future conflict; says group still seeks to avenge Mughniyeh.
By News Agencies and Avi Issacharoff Tags: Hezbollah Hassan Nasrallah Lebanon Israel newsHezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah threatened Tuesday that if Israel attacks Beirut in the future, Hezbollah will attack Tel Aviv.
"If you hit Rafik al-Hariri international airport in Beirut, we will hit Ben-Gurion airport in Tel Aviv," Nasrallah told thousands of his followers at a ceremony to mark the two-year anniversary of the death of Hezbollah's military leader Imad Mughaniyeh.
"If you hit our ports, we will bomb your ports, and if you hit our oil refineries, we will bomb your oil refineries."
"It is untrue that we are giving Israel an excuse to launch an aggression on Lebanon. Israel does not need an excuse, and if it needs an excuse it creates one," he said. "If Israel strikes Dahiyeh, we will strike Tel Aviv."
Dahiyeh is a Hezbollah stronghold in Beirut's southern suburbs.
"They think that they can demolish Dahiyeh's buildings as we barely 'puncture their walls.' But I tell them today: You destroy a Dahiyeh building and we will destroy buildings in Tel Aviv," Nasrallah said as his followers chanted "God bless Nasrallah".
Nasrallah added that Hezbollah was still seeking to avenge the death of Mughniyeh. Mughniyeh was killed in a February 2008 car bombing in Damascus and Hezbollah holds Israel responsible for his death.
Nasrallah described the recent Israeli threats against Lebanon and Syria as "psychological warfare" to frighten the Lebanese people and government and to thwart the resistance from boosting its strength.
"We do not want war, but we are concerned with defending our people's dignity," he said
Nasrallah assured his followers that Israel cannot wage a new war against Lebanon.
"Israel has been living in a state of crisis on the strategic level since the July 2006 and Gaza wars. It can neither impose peace based on its conditions nor wage war," he said.
Israel launched a 33-day war against Lebanon in July 2006, after Hezbollah militants snatched two Israeli soldiers in a cross-border attack.

i agree with U , I also respect smart persons like urself . U wrote what millions of arabs and muslims believe in . how did israelis got themselves in this blunder ? they ought to be smarter and wiser and make peace with arabs and muslims before it,s 2 late for them .
I left Haifa in 2006 war, this man is the same blood line as the man who first defeated our ancestors in Khabayr (Elia) whom arabs refer to him as Ali Ibn Abi Talib, Nasrallah is reffered to as the Yemeni, i truly belive we our fellow ancestors should have choscen Argentina over palestine, it would have been more safer there, Lets not kid ourselves Nasrallah has delivered on his promises in the past, what makes us belive he wont, I do not believe anyone can stop him, and currently all our leaders today have suffered defeat at the hands of Nasrallah, naming Barak and Netanyahu both were PM when we occupied lebanon and Barak retreated. I served in the IDF in Bint Jbeil, we never were safe there, hezzboallah are well trained , drilled and disciplined army, and more importantly brave, i really fear this war they will enter Israel by foot and really exterminate our brothers in the north, whilst they bombard us in the south.
Some of the worst anti-semites are semites,Alon is right and you proved him right with your insulting and offensive post.
This guy's greatest wish is for a war to start. His organization has no other purpose.
Just leave the Israeli's alone.
Hezbollah simply doesn;t have advanced enough guidance systems on their weapons to target Ben Gurion, hundreds of miles from the missile launch sites in Northern Lebanon. Not even the scuds from Iraq could target specific locations within the Tel Aviv Area, and Hezbollah does not have any scuds, thats for sure. Remember the Iranian missile launch photo that was photoshopped?? These guys are desperate to be taken seriously.
I'm afraid he does lie- it's been 2 years since the assassination of Mughniyeh and he must have threatened revenge 20 times already, but nothing has happened. His credibility in the arab world is slowly receding, also in part due to the egypt debacle.
We would be truly blessed if Nasrallah was shown like the coward Mughniyeh what happens when you bang on the door too loudly. Knock Knock....their time is coming!
I remember staring into southern Lebanon from the insertion point in the last war. Defeat in the form military and ideological short comings caused many in the burubs of Leb to fear the mistakes their so called leaders will eventually make. Launch a rocket yourself Mr. Coward..i mean Nasralah. May the land o Israel strike those who sew death for their own personal gains. May the peace come after this man is no longer a problem. And if its really a fight they want ...be sure that it doesnt lead to another round like the war of independence. Didnt work to well for the other side ...did it?
he brings out the lowest denominator in his brain-washed, herd-like followers. While he is hiding like a mole in one of his many holes at the same time he banging his fat chest with his plump fist spewing perpetual threats and instigations. My prediction is: Withing 3 year period he will have a STROKE and be paralized on the right side of his body unable to speak clearly and walk without assistance.
Since he is so lovable Australia to welcome him with open arms
to be destroyed once for all!!!he needs that kind of speech to exist and mobilise his militants.he knows his limits face to IDF
الا ان حزب الله هم الغالبون
I was in Haifa during the Second Lebanon War, and I can say that it is true that Mr. Seyed Hassan Nasrallah created terror in the hearts of innocent Israelis and tourists, too. But then again, I looked into it further and I find it hard to blame the Hizbollah for their stand as they have been living in the Bekaa, Southern Lebanon villages and across the region for so long. I was so frightened by their barrage that I and my wife, some friends cancelled our Aliyah back to Israel. We don't want to be on the losing side (IDF).
wake up my dear, when nasrallah talks,u should hear well and take his words into consideration, darling when they want to give him weapons they are not waiting ur permission...so it is better to stop talking coz u seem very silly.
u idiot ! arabs are semites!!
lek rou7 2er fik chou 7mar ya so called walid
israel does not object to the existence of lebanon (or even hezbollah, so long as they leave us alone).
When a terrorist(Hezbollah) group tells Israel they: 1) do not recognized their right to exist. 2) That they intend to destroy Israel and help anyone (Hamas) who is trying too. 3) They attack Israel with rockets, infiltrations...killing and kidnapping IDF soldiers. 4) They are developing tunnel networks to fight Israel. The fact you claim as proof of intention: "that beacons were pre-placed on top roof of dahyie buildings)." Proves exactly nothing, except that Israel as any country being threatened makes plans in case of war. It is in fact what all countries do, like here in the U.S. the Pentagon runs war-games using dozens of different scenarios. It is the place of government to protect its citizens.
The only thing I agree with you on is that this conflict can be overcome at some point through a number of steps. Otherwise, Israel launches wars to protect its people. They demolish homes that are illegaly occupied and built, both in Muslim and Jewish neighborhoods. They arrest people who are terrorists. The check points are there to protect citizens from the above mentioned terrorists (even though the checkpoints are at an all time low because of the current governments actions which you neglected to mention). "Jewdising"!! There are hundreds of thousands of Muslim Israelis living beside Jews all over the country, and I'm so sorry you can't stand for Jews to live in your area.
A french poet (La Fontaine) once said: "the reason of the most powerful is always the most right" refering to a debate between a lamb and a wolf. the lamb was drinking downstream a river when the wolf accused him of polluting "his" water source. the poor lamb used logic and national regulations to explain to the wolf that its impossible that he can polute the water as he is downstream (logic) but the wolf refused this debate and insited that if its not him(the lamb) then it must be his cousins (palestenians..) who are ploting to kill him and went on by butchering him. Nasrallah also said, Israel doesnt need an excuse (in 2006 it was pre-arranged for the fact that beacons were pre-placed on top roof of dahyie buildings). they will make the excuse and the scenario required. God saves us all in preventing further violence.
the anti-semites are showing their headas and their hatred do you people rellay think if israel creates a palestinian country and let the arabs return the muslims will stop their hatred against jews no i don't think so the arabs always hate us no matter what we do we are for them the sons of apes and pigs
it's interesting to hear him invoke hariri's name, a man who couldn't have felt much else than antipathy for him while still alive, ie before he was brutally executed by nasrallah's complices, the syrians. likewise when speaking of excuses & about "not needing any" (reg. israel). if he's wise he'll refrain from giving israel 'excuses', ie reasons for another take at the hezbollah fortress. this is the man who publicly confesses that his movement won't back down until israel is finished as a state. he must know extremely well that the moment he moves in any attempt of seriously hurting israel /jewish communities abroad in order to avenge mughniyeh, his bunker is next. the sad thing is seeing, as it seems, how many lebanese outside of the shiite community he still manages to take for a ride.
Unfortunately Nasralla does not lie when it comes to fighting the Zionist regime. When he promises something against the racist Zionists, he sustain it! He promised to hit Hayfa and he did. He promised to release Samir Quntar and he did! Now he is promising the Zionist leaders to respond to their offense and if they play around he will simply sustain his new promise. We are not looking for war and we do not want it, but that does not mean we are not longing to retrieve the land back to it's people (Palestinians), Gulan and of course the rest of the occupied lands of Lebanon.
and he has delivered, israel even turned the moderate harriri against them.
Did you fools forget how the song and dance "the arms of the resistance will never be used internally"?!? and exactly precisely that happened and still happening since May07. Did you forget when he used to say "anyone who wants to send the lebanese army to the south is a traitor" and how exactly that happened following the 2006 "victOry", Did you forget how he sat like in his cave like a puppy during the Gaza war and denied any rocket responsibility towards israel?? of course he was too buzzy doing 3ashura.. what "resistance"? there has not been a single act since 06 in leb!! and same is largely true for gaza, both the hizb and hamas became like arab regimes gaurding the borders of israel..and what would happen in the next war: israel would destroy lebanon beyond recognitition, the hizzies survive by simply hiding and he calls "victory". Lebanese on here.. you are PATHETIC.
we are free in our country, it is not of your business to look at us and become jalous. it's better for you to stay in LA and call the rest of you to come over from the middle east
He could be in for some interesting surprises. Israel's anti missile shield could be up and working. In 2006 Israel destroyed only a quaarter of Beirut that was Hezbollah's headquarters. Now the Lebanese govt. has aligned itself with Hezbollah they should expect the worse for their citizens. Who should be packing there bags?
Israel and Israelis should realize that they cantthreaten sovern nations, wage wars, destroy infrastructures, and kill innocent civilians withou paying the price. Israel as we know it will have to either change it's radical racist behaviour and stop it's arrogance. If you read history you will realize that a state based on racist ideals, occupation, and killing and scaring innocent civilians will not last or survive. If Israelis really love their state they need to change it and embrace peace and recognize the palastinian right to live and have their own state. Israel should also recgnize the fact that it's an illigitemate occupation state. You can't pretend you're the only roghtious state in the MEA when you're the mos racist illegitimate entity in our present. Israel has to fix its flaws or wait till the walls go down.
Isreal's existence is in threat. every day hezbollah hamas and iran are getting stronger and stronger their abilities are increasing and they have a goal which everybody knows about that is to end isreal's existance and to end this goal isreal should end its threats but on the other hand isreal doesn't have the ability to enter a new war it can't suffer another loss and it cant guarantee a win against lebanon. today isreal cant stand down against its threats and is in no place and ability in entering a new war. isreal's existence is on the line it lost its power and authority over the mea. in my personal opinion isreal will enter a new war as soon as possible even though it can't guarantee that it will win and achieve its goal and if isreal loses then there is no doubt what so ever the isreal's existance will end.
I like the new rule. The middle east will become more secure. I really don't understand sionists ! Guys, you believe in the Holy Torah... me too. I red it, it is very clear and it explains why G-d forced you to go out from the promised territories and it was TRUE because G-d say only the TRUTH. The Holy Coran explains how you will come back to this territories and how you will act and He advised you to not gone up twice, but you did. This two facts was describe by G-d as He know the past, the present and the futur... You can't reject these prophecies as they are real today ! In my opinion, you should be very afraid because the last fact (prophecy) that was describes in the Holy Bible and the Holy Coran will nearly happen... The believers will enter Jerusalem as they entered it at the first time. Remember that, G-d says always the TRUTH :-) I advice you to think on the world creation and on G-d rules before facing the malediction of G-d, maybe you will be saved.
God bless missiles; the great equalizers!
This man never lies he knows what he is talking about unless Israelis have a strong will and determination to fight with conviction like the Hizbolah fighters its too late for Israel. These guys are not afraid to die how can you fight them. John you are right the next war will be the final one guess who will win for sure not Israel when you don?t have the conviction and the Leaders who care for the country more than they care for their political career it smells big big big trouble.
There is a small fact that Israeli Businessmen know very well: Nobody likes to invest in hazardous areas. This simple fact has made that very little foreign investment has taken place in Lebanon over the last 40 years. And, periodicaly every few years, Israel initiates or at least promotes a military action in Lebanon, and enjoys the fact that Lebanon has become a financially unstable country. Nasrallah's promises (not threats) are mainly about this point. He knows very well that if Ben Gourion's airport is hit by a rocket, this will not "destroy" Israel in the proper sense. Nor sending rockets to a power plant or an oil refinery. But undoubtedly such actions will make Israel an unstable country, not suitable for investments, and money is where Jews are hurt most. I would like his message to be sees as a peace message to Israelis Businessmen: If you want Israel's prosperity, you should ensure that your government doesn't target (or even threaten) Lebanon. Tough task ! Good luck
The statement from Nasrallah to Israel leaders are "Do NOT attack our civilian infrastructure unless you are willing to suffer the same". I don't any thing offensive on his statement. He doesn't say that he will rain Israeli countryside with cluster bombs to make life difficult to peasants. He is telling the neighborhood bully to stop picking fights unless that bully is willing to be bloodied. The bullied has simply risen up and said that enough is enough.
The next war will be the one that decides the final winner,"Iran, hizbollah, syria",or"Isreal, Egypt, US forces in middle east".The 2006 war senario will NOT be repeated.
2006 changed my life and changed my views. I was born and raised American. I was one of those Americans trying to get home to my family and most of all my son. No one... unless you have experienced it knows what it feels like to feel trapped and helpless. Desperately trying to get home to be with my son. Making it back home safely I realized who was actually defending Lebanon and whom were acting as humanitarians. I pledge and honor those whom died defending Lebanon and defending whomever was out their, as I was. Israel only has one thing on their mind and that is to destroy this country and tried to do so by trying to cripple Lebanons infastructure. I dont blame Nasrallah in defending Lebananon in the manner in wich he has and will be in the future.
Dear Israelis, Welcome to the new Middle East. You threaten Syria, we respond and your government runs to try to clear the mess and blame it on poor Liberman. You attack Lebanon, the same happens. The old days are over. You can destory, we can as well and lets see who can tolerate more. Btw, what Nasrallah said means that the missles are already with Hezbuallh. Your government has been threatening that "if these missles reach Lebanon", we will do this and that. We are waiting
the man is saying the plain truth : his militia is small in numbers and arms comparing to idf ,but his militia-men r willing to die for thier believes and ideology.they r determined fighters trained to deal with the most difficult situations .HIZBOLLAH have modern long-range projectiles which can reach israel proper and create havoc and inflict grave damage .IRANIANS also supplied them with light modern arms against aircraft and armor .
If I'm an Israeli citizen, I would start packing my bags to get on the first plane.
Yes, males have testosterone. You don't need to show off how big it is. Israel knows that Lebanon can hit back. Lebanon knows Israel can bomb them back to the stone age. Daily threats to retaliate by both sides only make what rational people want to avoid, harder to avoid.
israel no longer has a monopoly. It cannot venture into lebanon, and bomb as it pleases. israel is now facing a challenge from a leader who has proved him self many times. Its simple, if israel dares bomb lebanese civillian centres, it should expect to take similiar hits. Should israel focus on hezbollah (and suffer greatly on the feild) no israeli civllians will ever be touched. Can the israelis resist attacking civillians? I think not.
I would hope that Nasrallah would be wiser than the Israeli's, but of course, he wants to maintain Hezbollah's deterrence.
Hassan Nasrallah takes a page from the bible. Eye for an eye... Should sound familiar to Israelis.
But will the world take notice? That is, of the constant war-mongering remarks of Hezbollah, with their threats a weekly chorus and their ability, now, greatly enhanced. Israel should never have left Lebanon until Hezbollah was wiped out. Now, we have to go to war again (we all know its coming) and have SEVERE damage inflicted to our infrastructure. This will be our most costly war since '73, no doubt. And no doubt we will prevail but at a tremendous price. And this is why the world does not understand our approach to Gaza: to 'repress' the enemies ability to build up its power to murder instead of pursue peace. The West Bank will erupt, Gaza again and Hezbollah and Syria until they are finally finished off. Only then will there be peace. What a pity that so many people would choose such an insane course for themselves. The one state solution is our only option, like it or not. This is the palestinians last chance. If they say no to this, they will suffer severly.
..they just instructions from Tehran. After all Russia will not deliver the S.300 SAM. Let alone the sdvanced the S400 SAM. Iran's regime is now in a bind. Iran's regime is now totally alienated from the West. Iran is a destabilizing element in the region. Mr.Nasrallah falls into the same loop, so does Syria and Hamas. The military option against Hezbollah is on the table. Hamas, has lost the hearts and minds of its people, for they have only shown callousness in conducting their style of a government for the people. So, Moscow has finally been elected by all parties as the moderator. Of course the cultural ties between Russia and the million odd Russian Israelis are deep and binding. Thats one sixth of Israels population. The future aint so bright for terrorism. Lets hope that the Casino du Liban will remain open for business. "Play it again", Sam.! Good night from freezing Swiss Alps.
bla bla bla bla... we heard that all before, making speeches again Nasrallah? what loosing admirers?
If Hezbollah won't make any provocation in near future Iran will have to give them unemployment package.
This is the only Politician in the Middle East that speaks truth: Israeli Politicians take heed. Mughniyeh's death will surely be avenged. A new war and Israel will be reduced back 20 years
Well, so far Mr. Nasrallah have never lied, that is a fact.
UN should get no free passage from Leb either by air or sea. They allow Hez to arm so they might as well fight along side them and die with them too. Southern leb should become a wasteland.
... but I would bet my life that these cocky sounding words came out of a big TV screen, transmitted from Nasrallah's secret rat hole in the sewers of Beirut.
Thats only fair. Its about time the people of Israel experience some of the destruction and brutality that the IDF have been inflicting on innocent Lebanese people over the decades. The equation has certainly changed, and need I need to add that it has changed for the BETTER.
God bless you Nasrallah, a man of true courage and dignity.
It is now going on almost 2 yrs that Nasrallah has been taunting Israel to go to war. Why does he not just send over one of his missles into Tel-aviv. That would catch Bibi's attention. Nasrallah, put up or shut up.
Its a good Balance of Terror .. made By Mr.Nasrallah, Israel must realise that Any Attack on lebanon Have it's price.. Eye for eye .. Nefes per nefes etc So help us god
unlike the Israeli leaders!!
The resistance in lebanon is legitimate from how i see it. I wish lebanon all the victory vs the oppressor.
Unless I'm really off here, this potential response by the towel-heads in Lebanon threatening BG airport couldn't have been possible had Israel's leadership opted out to not do anything about the initial build up of missiles in the north. What were they thinking? That in the future nobody would have to pay the "bill"? Now, if and when war comes, Israel will experience a bombardment unseen since the War of Independence. Great going Mr. Rabin, Barak, Netanyahu, and Olmert...the bill may be collected in the near future.
Attack syria already. Hizbully needs to learn that they can't just sit back in Syria and threaten innocent people anymore. They should learn that threats have consequences. The problem is Israel allows Hizbully to sit in Syrian and plan attacks and kill civilians without any consequence. They will only learn to stop threats and killings if there are consequences to their actions.
jewish blood is not more valuable and unjustified israeli arrogance needs to be put to a stop immediatley
It is the beginning of the end for Israel. we all know this guy delivers what he promisses no matter what you think of him.... old warfare is over... no one can defeat fighters that can cause extreme damages such as hezb-fighters. Also you can defeat someone who is not scared of death, and will to do anything to crush you. i guess y'all (israelies) have to renew your passports and prepare for a new diaspora.
and should be taken at face value. In Lebanon II, Ben-Gurion International was not struck, even though Beirut International was repeatedly targeted. One must now assume that Hezbollah has the weaponry to correct that omission. Equally clear is the fact that missles raining down on Ben-Gurion would have a new, complicated and devastating impact on Israel. Mr. Nasrallah also ups the ante considerably by noting that seemingly untouchable Tel Aviv would come under attack if even Beirut's southern suburbs (large parts of which were literally destroyed in Lebanon II) are again attacked. Add this to Syria's recent pledge to defend Lebanon should if be attacked, and ... well, it would appear that Lebanon III will interesting in the extreme.
Has anyone noticed how quiet the Northern border is since the last war?
we have been hearing too many insolent threats against lebanon by israeli leaders, barak ayalon netenyahou and others. nasrallah today called their bluff, and replied in kind. "We do not want war, but we are concerned with defending our people's dignity".
What a laugh!. He had to come out eventually...and when he did, the same olde same olde threats and chest beating and poof! he's gone back into his hidey-hole... What a marvelous statesman and leader...from behind the women's skirts and the little innocent children's toys, he slithers aout emerges into the open to espose his hate and then is gone...did someone really elect this gay, non LEB, and not quite an arafat? Unfortunately, not funny...not prophetic, and not unreal.
Israeli politicians must understand that fostering tension in the region, just like what Bibi did when announcing that the Muslim world will follow iran to develop nukes, is a self-threatening policy. As long as consecutive Israeli governments are causing sources of conflict i.e. Wars, demolishing homes, arresting people, check points, jewdising Jerusalem, settlements, etc., threats by Hizbollah, Iran, and other enemies of Israel will continue to rise. The power logic is driving such policies since Israel claims to have the powerful army in the region. Whatever power they have, they should just realize that the safety of their people is conditioned by the safety of their neighbors! Israel should stop its occupation of Palestinian territories and help the establishment of a Palestinian state if it claims to be a modern civilized country. The conflict is chronic and complex, but this can be done through business, peace, cultural and academic exchange, etc.
Being in possession of 30/40.000 Missiles, eh I would take this kind of threat very seriously.
He admitted the mistake of attacking Israel, then declared victory...just for surviving the war...a strange vision of victory. Now hiding out like a rat in a hole unable to move freely about he again threatens Israel for some imaginary attack Israel is planning. Sure Israel as any country has a plan of attack, if, and only if Hezbollah starts it...since Hezbollah did exactly that last time...Hezbo has no worries unless they are planning to attack Israel first. But remember if Hezbo starts another war they may not be so lucky as last time. Will the UN be able to call off the dogs of war again, it's doubtful.
