Muslim students scream 'killer' during Israel envoy speech in L.A.
Police arrest 12 hecklers who disrupted Michael Oren's speech at California university.
By Natasha Mozgovaya Tags: Israel newsCalifornia police reportedly made 12 arrests on Monday after a speech by Israel's U.S. Ambassador Michael Oren descended into chaos.
Hecklers interrupted Oren's lecture at University of California, Irvine, over 10 times, shouting "killers" and "how many Palestinians did you kill?"
Oren took a 20 minute break after the fourth protest, only to be interrupted again by young men yelling at him every few minutes, local press reported.
Many members of the audience also applauded Oren.
The arrested students were apparently members of the university's Muslim Student Union, which had publicly condemned Oren's visit earlier in the day.
In a statement printed by the Orange County Register, a newspaper, the union said:
"We condemn and oppose the presence of Michael Oren, the ambassador of Israel to the United States, on our campus today.
"We resent that the Law School and the Political Science Department on our campus have agreed to cosponsor a public figure who represents a state that continues to break international and humanitarian law and is condemned by more UN Human Rights Council resolutions than all other countries in the world combined."
Oren eventually completed his speech, some time later than scheduled, but did not take questions from the audience as planned.
University Chancellor Michael Drake was booed by some and applauded by others when he told the audience that he was embarrassed by the outburst.

Did Irvine muslim college students go too far? Watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZO3kafDwJvE
Why is that Muslim protesters whose ideological terrorist counterparts kill civilians believe that they have a right to disrupt the free speech of others while claiming infringement of their free speech. Only in the West, that they would re-make into their brand of theocracy without any free speech, can they get away with this hypocrisy. They should listen and learn or be silenced.
Most Americans are truly IDIOTS,and the standard of their education is so sub-standard, its laughable. My gardener has more intelligents and knowledge than the average American professor. Read the history of Rome and its decline, then try hard to look in the mirror, that is-if you can find one.
"Seriuosly, with the exception of a few colleges, you can flush them down the toilet." "Europe has much more prestigous Universities than USA. WE come to learn, not to party or behave like fools." Could be, however there are far fewer Europeans with university degress than in the US as well as equal access for people of all colors. Look at your own house first. In Italy our system is a joke and only the smartest or well-connected get through. And we have the same type of protests in Europe as the one mentioned in the article, so put that in your pipe and smoke it.
Dino to Maurice: '....means, that he was probably rather focused on milk and pacifiers than the ME conflict...:)' Okay that was the best post respose I read today. I like your sense of humor! :)
What happened in UCI was the premeditated sabotage by the Moslem students union of the event organazed and sponsored by the public funded, government institution. It is assault on the US government organization by the organized Moslem group. This must be investigated by the FBI to the full extent. Moslem organizations in the universities must be disbanded; they are the jihadis nests of terror. FBI, you must act!
"Supposedly, Jesus said there is a time for war and a time for peace. I think that after rockets have been launched at your country for 8 years, it`s time for war, dopey." Jesus said no such thing. If you weren't so quick to try and insult everyone's intelligence all the time, maybe you would have taken some time to think before you post. That line is from the OLD TESTAMENT. The book of Ecclesiastes to be specific. Jesus didn't show up till the New Testament. Those words were from God, Yahweh, Allah......whatever you want to call him, not Jesus.
freedom of speech at its best.
"To paraphrase Mark Twain: "the sign of true intelligence is to hold two opposing points of view and still be able to function." Aaron, Yes, Mark Twain made a very good point and I believe he carried his protest to its highest form when he went in the back door with his protest on slavery by having the slave boy Jim in Huckleberry Finn express his desire to buy his family back who were sold into slavery Yet I can appreciate the acts of moral outrage that have move people to act out over time and while I admit they can be very disturbing they can be held in check by showing people public accountablity. Thus the Israeli army and government must step up to the plate and acknowlwedge their wrong doing in Gaza and hold those accountable under the law. That's what's needed there. Dutch PS Jesus of Narzareth threw the peddlers out of the Temple and Moses broke the tablets of the law when he came down from the Mount and saw the Israelites worshipping the Golden Calf.
"To paraphrase Mark Twain: "the sign of true intelligence is to hold two opposing points of view and still be able to function." Aaron, I agree with your statement and Mark Twain's. indeed is an in- valuable skill we must all strive to achieve and certainly Mark Twain took it to its highest form in Huckleberry Finn when he had the slave boy Jim express his desire to buy back his family members who were sold into slavery. Yet to move beyond this and other contentious issues I believe moral outrage has its place in our daily lives and across the world today and if we are wise we will read behind those lines also . After all, Jesus of Nazareth threw the peddlers out of the temple for corrupting this holy site and Moses broke the tablets of the law when he saw the Israelites worshipping the Golden Calf. Indeed, those very actions might have spared the offenders from direct public action and punishment at the time under the law... Likewise, the argry outbursts and calls today over Israel's war crimes in Gaza is perhaps is another way of defusing the lawless that could occur otherwise from an angry group of people. And yes of course, there must be direct action by Israeli officials to own up to their crimes which will help settle this growing unrest. Dutch
Yes, students have been at the vanguard of many protest movements, but often they are actually quite selective with respect to which "oppressive regimes" and "human rights violations" they choose to protest. Certainly Apartheid in S. Africa was popular, as are both Tibetan and Palestinian nationalism. But what about the Tamils in Sri Lanka? What about the Kurds? Or any other number of oppressed ethnic groups around the world? My original point wasn't about Michael Oren per se. That you and those students disagree with him is immaterial. How one conducts oneself when confronted with an opposing point of view from one's own is a barometer of maturity, intelligence, and wisdom. These "students" scored pretty low on all three. To paraphrase Mark Twain: "the sign of true intelligence is to hold two opposing points of view and still be able to function."
Joseph Steinberg of NYC. You say for Israel to improve its image worldwide it must change its ways. By that do you mean accepting hamas rockets striking their cities? Do you mean allowing hamas thugs to enter israel to kidnap Israeli soldiers so the can negotiate for the body once they have been murdered? Israel does'nt need your advice
Hello there Aaron, For as long as I can recall students have always been at the centre of protest on human rights violations and oppressive regimes. At least dating back to Apartheid in South Africa in the early sixties when I became involved and of course from Vietnam onward.... I don't blame students today, especially the Muslim students for their outrage and protest of Israeli officials. Although I must admit Michael Oren is far from its notorious offender. Quite the contrary, actually. Yet on the other hand he hasn't been a strong voice for change either as I mentioned above he saw a good in his country's unlawful invasion of the territories and he hasn't really let go of this either, I feel as he still is luke warm in his support of the army?s withdrawal although I am sure he recognizes how damaging it is for US Israeli relations& world view. In addition, I fail to see how you can just call the Army's occupation of the Palestinian territories just an occupation at the beginning as this award winning eye witness account by Salman Abu Sitta reveals. He is immentently more qualified both as a victim and as a land engin- eer to dispute your point. and claim there Please see the URL below. Dutch http://www.alternatefocus.org/SittaShow.html
It?s almost unbelievable how much hate is allowed to spew from a public university campus ? and OUR tax dollars are paying for this outrage! UCI's pitiful excuse for a chancellor, Dr. Michael Drake, has been a coward for years now when it comes to standing up for the rights of Jewish students on his campus. Every year, when the situation comes to a head during MSU Hate Week, Dr. Drake consistently dismisses the charges of anti-Semitism by claiming that ?free speech? cannot be abridged in any way. After all, he says, isn?t that what a university campus is for ? the free exchange of ideas? But when one group tries to silence that free exchange of ideas, Dr. Drake has no objections. Dr. Drake needs to be relieved immediately from his post as chancellor, and the MSU needs to be shut down until such time as its members can act in a civil manner. That means (1)respect for other viewpoints and (2)a complete halt to their hate-filled events and harrassment of Jewish students.
Philippe, People steeped in ignorance have characters frozen in time, and hence "evolve" at a different rate than those willing to step outside their comfort zone and see the differences around them, and to be more or less ok with it. My issue with the protestors has nothing to do with their first amendment rights. When they got up in unison and left Oren's speech, about 100 of them, and went outside the lecture room to protest, they had the right to protest outside, and I would support their right to do so. Inside however, while a speech was given, which by the way was supposed to be followed by a question and answer session, never happened because of the heckler. They are small minded people. At this point, I'll cut them some slack because they all appeared to be college age and that comes with the territory... When I see this sort of ignorance manifesting itself into a desire to wipe out another people, any people, if feel quite comfortable categorizing.
how many copies do you need.??
As to your question about depriving another peoples' rights in favor of one's own, well, it would be wonderful if human beings acted selflessly all the time. However, this kind of behavior is the exception rather than the rule, and no one person, or group of people, can claim to be free of guilt with respect to acting in self-interest. The fact is, the world has not been very compassionate towards Jews. More often than not, it has been though Jewish self-interest that helped ensure Jewish survival. I'm not writing this to excuse Israel's behavior, but rather in the hopes that you might understand the motivation behind it. Jews are accustomed to acting defensively, and in self-interest. Sometimes a person acting in self-interest isn't really acting in self-interest, but can't see his actions for what they are. Hence people, and groups, sometimes act in ways that seem to the rest of us short-sighted. Please have a little compassion and stop playing the blame game. It gets us nowhere.
The occupation of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip by Israel in 1967 was not, strictly speaking, "an appalling violation of the Palestinian peoples` sovereign rights". There was no sovereign entity known as Palestine for Israel to violate. Rather, the occupied territory was exactly that: occupied. the West Bank by Jordan, and the Gaza Strip by Egypt.
Should Canada's ambassadors be unwelcome everywhere due to Canada's continued occupation of native land and injustices committed within its borders?
You are asking about the rights of the Pal. Am I correct. Their leaders have the right for secret bank accounts. They have the right to tunnels not supplying food or medine for their people, But they bring in weapons . It must be very hard to accept the fact the Pal still live in camps. Your other Muslim brothers dont want you. Wonder why????????
He celebrated the 1967 war and viewed the invasion of the territories as a good thing for Israel rather than an appalling violation of the Pale-stinian peoples' sovereign rights. It's like endorsing evil because there is a good in it. Although I am not accusing Michael of evil necessarily yet I am accusing him of being terr-ible short sightness. How on earth could it ever be right to deprive another peoples' of their land to promote one's own? It's so damn immoral and I believe he still doesn't get this and neither do many Israelis otherwise they would de-mand their government honor the right of return of Palestinians instead of being worried how it will disturb Israelis. Well, forgive my moral outrage but it is too iffing bad at this point. There comes a point in restoring justice when one has to set aside all. Imagine , some of those Palestinians like the former poet Darwish who saw his home from where he lived yet he was unable to return home let alone be buried there. Look at his writing and sense his great sadness on this. I believe he first wrote about this as a young boy --his fear of returning home and finding strangers in his father's house....Dutch
For as long as this shameful war goes on , Israeli "ambassadors" won`t be welcome anywhere . What is the surprise?
Irv Rubin was right when he said the Arab community in Ornage County and the Santa Ana mosque is a hotbed of Moslem radicalism. In 1975 he said this at the Reform Temple in Fullerton and I scoffed at him, I was wrong and this protest and other activities proves he was insightful and even prophetic in his pronouncements. He was before his time.
Thank you for your reply (# 103) but why are you dodging the question. Let me repeat the question and maybe you can answer directly this time: you say "IT'S AMAZING HOW EVOLUTION OCCURS AT DIFFERENT RATES FOR DIFFERENT SPECIES" Would you care to elaborate on your views?? its just that your comment sounds suspiciously like racism & anti-semitic. Maybe I'm wrong, please correct me!
I agree with you in that they are far from being alone, but as far I can ascertain from the information provided in this article, all they expressed was their inability to think critically, engage in a meaningful debate, and possibly even learn something. Isn't that what students go to school for? If they already know everything, and have all the answers, why are these "students" even in school at all? As far as me being in agreement with you, I think this is a disturbing trend among so-called educated people in our country, who, due to ideology, lack any critical thinking skills.
No right of speech to an extremist. Someone you disagree with is an extremist No right to that person to speak Ah Michael -- look at thy mirror
No right of speech to an extremist. Someone you disagree with is an extremist No right to that person to speak Ah Michael -- look at thy mirror
A friendly word: Get your house in order....quickly and before it's too late
and supporters of Israel is rampant on American campuses. Pro Israel speakers, all the way up to PM Netanyahu are not allowed to speak while demagogues like ahmadinejad are given free rein.
Well said Arnold. I know these Muslims students are quick to condemn Israel, but you never hear a peep from them about Islamic misgivings. I never hear them bitching about Mohammad Amin al-Husayni and what he and his followers did to Jews in the Holy land in the 1920 and 30's and how he help Adolph Hitler by sending his followers to help round up Jews and Serbs and have them killed. He Helped orchestrate the Hebron Massacre of 1929 where hundreds of Jews where burned out of their and had their stuff looted and were killed. You lefty hypocrites ought to Google or Yahoo that one. Oh yeah what about the recent massacre of 400 children in the school in Beslan, Russia by these so called peaceful Muslims, What about Bali, 9/11, Madrid and London train bombing, Abu Sayyaf in the Philppines, Pam Am Flight 103, etc, etc and Muslim on Muslims violence. All I can say is In the name of Allah, the most violent and hateful. Piss be upon him.
The issue of the growing international unpopularity of Israel has nothing to do with Israeli freedom of speech. The world is sick and tired of Israeli violations of international laws. You must realize that numerous campaigns are developing around the world to protest the Israeli 42-year occupation of Palestinian territory, and against the building of settlements in the West Bank and the annexation of Jerusalem. All these activities are violations of international law, UN resolutions, and the 4th Geneva Convention, and thus war crimes. Witness the Spanish academic boycott of Ariel University. Consider the UK trade unions boycott of Israeli goods,Turkish rejection of IAF in military exercise, the International Federation of Israeli Journalists dismissal by the International Federation of Journalists, French Trade Union Solidaires Industries mounting Israeli boycott, divestment and sanctions campaigns, etc. protests against policies of the State of Israel: not anti-semitism.
Those Muslim students are far from being alone in expressing their moral outrage at Israeli officials over Gaza today. There is a whole population of Americans who swear at Israel daily and call their officials murderers and war criminals. You all need to wake up over there. When your leaders order the mass murder of defenseless people with 21st centy weapons -people won't give your officials a seat at the table let alone a voice at the podium. Dutch
but it doesn't seem. Now israel is going to label those students as ant-zionist etc.etc. The same old words!
The Palastenians started their drive for peace based on the two states solution since Oslo in 1991. They spent a very very long time in talking with the Israilis without gaining any thing. The Israelis are more interseted in grabbing more Palastenian lands and in killing as many Palastenians as they can than talking about real peace. The last war in Gaza in 2008 and killing more than 1500 women and children is a prove of that.
Constant US censure of nearly any non-pro israeli topic is behind the radicalization seen here. Not only did US support israel in its offensive against gaza, but the senate was unanimous in the UN resolution supporting israel. and the house voted 435-5 for the resolution! Common sense dictates that this level of consent should be impossible for the inherently controversial issue of waging war on a largely civilian populace. But there was no debate! There is far greater freedom of speech regarding israel in israel than in the US. CAMERA, AIPAC, and Evangelical christian lobbyists have been far too good at their jobs. I would have preferred debate to these antics. This anger is not constrained to muslims, ultra-liberals, and anti-semites. Humanitarian offenses have not gone unnoticed. US Media and political bias has not gone unnoticed. Oren was heckled off the stage. Most pro-palestinan speakers are shut down long before they can reach the stage.
Whose fault is it, if the Borders are closed. Its easy to blame Israel, but not Hamas. Hamas clearly announces that it can not be todays Israel, HAMAS will is to wipe out Israel. First HAMAS must accept to soverignty of Israel if you want the borders to be opened. Ask from HAMAS if they are going to accept to be or not an Israeli state. I'm waiting your answer. Aby
...screaming in impotent rage? They're the most sexually insecure and repressed men on earth, projecting their self-loathing and sense of impotence outwards on to any socially "acceptable" target they can invent. They'll do anything to avoid looking inward and conducting an honest self appraisal. No, no, no. Too hard, too humiliating. Much easier to find fault with others. Oh for the road less travelled!
You know very well we are behaving such as. We are not also comparing us with dictators, like you do. Don't make me laugh. We all have witnessed at the past how England behaved democraticaly to Ireland. When you are under constant threat, we all see how Western democracies is threating the threats. Your democracy is not better than us. Aby
Two peas in a pod. Both clueless to reality. Both betting on the wrong horse. The Arab aggressor who wants to attack daily, especially the victim who they will never accept. Why bother with peace talks ? Your skewed views are repudiated by millions. Look at Fox beating the pants off the other networks, for starters. Go stuff it.
Oh, Labby, so now the Bible is meaningless ?? Why not use the Bible as paper for the bottom of a birdcage. My dear, you haven't peed on us only. Now the L-rd is involved in your hatred. Wow, are you a piece of work. We won't/can't respond. THE GREAT ONE WILL.

Jesus" "He who is not with me is against me...".
I`m calling you on this one. "Finklestein also called for destruction of Israel on the scale of Germany and Japan in one of his video debates" ...tick tock...Nice.
As a Jew I rather be called killer and kill if I have to defend myself than be a victim in a paper like this one!Wake up nations, Jews are not any more your victims, your posessions you could protect or eject or kill as you pleased. Thank God for Israel, may God bless Israel with an outstretched hand. And as a Jew I want to say "THANK YOU ISRAEL" and you have my and many of my friends full support. Those few here who would like to return to the old days "wake up"!
Muslim students were upset huh? How did it become their campus? (They are becoming more bolder than ever)
and accept the borders with no further territorial or other claims? They will no longer incite their children? Send them out to confront peace keepers?then as it escelates a few get shot on either side etc? Then the press on cue start screaming baby killers.-- Most of us have seen it all before.Maybe not on the BBC.
called for an end to racist incitement, targetting civillians and rejection of peace??
Our strength lies in the wide range of views we have, expressed here every day. You like thought control??
There comes a time when people say enough is enough. "Cast Lead" war crimes, while it may have been an afterthought for some, remain vivid in the minds of many good conscience people. I applaud any attempt to hold ANYONE behind this horrific crime to account - be it only a public tongue lashing. Oren should know and he better know war crimes by Israel are no longer kosher. There is a movement, there is a global network, and I know they must be a nuisance to Zionists who would wish the days of ethnic cleansing and terrorizing the natives would not be covered by global media networks or the internet but those days are gone. Despite Israel's attempt to keep the media out of Gaza during the IDF and IAF rampage, the world was still able to see the phosphorous filled smoke in the air, the destruction of civilian homes and the hundreds of dead children. It can't be that all of Israel's problems can be solved by good hasbara. Maybe time for Israel ceases being a rogue state, for starters!
The Israel Haters AKA Anti-Semites try to shout out the truth as seen at Irivine. But as history will judge yet again these are the enemies of truth, masking their rhetoric with false slogans and bullying tactics, lies and deceit. Shut up and die already they shout at Jews while yelling that they are the victims and are exercising their rights to freedom of speech. Those that curse Israel will be cursed as has always been. If the Arabs give up their arms against Israel there would be no more War if the Jews give up their arms against the Arabs there would be no more Israel. If the Arabs love their children more than they hate the Jews there would be peace.
UCI's Muslim Student Union is notoriously disruptive and sympathetic to Islamist causes. Usually they're goading Jewish student groups and making odious Holocaust references, so this is nothing special. Luckily in America we don't have this sort of problem the way Europe and even Canada does. I also think it's funny that one of the biggest cheerleaders for these rowdy students hails from a nation that just outlawed the building of minarets. Oh, the irony.
"Borders closed by Israel, exports non-exsistent, very restricted imports, no-one can get in or out, all imposed by Gaza on Israel." [Miggy] 1. Borders are closed because Hamas has declared war on Israel, and shoots rockets. 2. Exports non-existent because Gazans produce nothing of value. 3. Imports are restricted to food and little else. What would you send to your enemy? 4. Nobody can get in or out because (see 1.) You are either very young or very dense, Miggy. Cute name, however.
Muslims are having a problem being civil in a civil forum. Is that a show of higher education or arrogance? Go figure,, he who dosen't learn from the past is bound to repeat it.
To my esteemed California brother-I strongly support your right to free speech and for you to express your ideas. There is a time and place to do it. Here is one place. Last night at UCI, it was outside the speech, but not heckling during it. That's not protected speech. About Cast Lead-When Israel left Gaza in 2005, it was a great opportunity for the Palestinians to put Israel to the test and demonstrate how it could self govern, be peaceful, and debunk Israel's claim about what a danger Gaza was/is. Well, thousands of mortars and rockets later, Israel decided to do a little house cleaning and play by the Hama, Syria rules. Guess what? Things have been pretty quiet since then. Doesn't make a lot of sense by Midwest standards, but does by Mideast standards. Sad thing is, Hamas learned nothing-ask Fatah.
Most of the ones in Palestine are in Israeli prisons.
You probably speak for a lot of Israelis (except for your personal snipes). You should have just said "All with the same agenda, all blaming but not one with a solution that would bring peace to the area and guarantee Israels existence." --- 1) Right now, as things stand, the existence of Israel is "the opposite of guaranteed". Same way a corpse is "the opposite of alive". Israel has zero security right now. Zero. 2) Giving a large chunk of land to the Palestinians now, along with some "neighbor gifts" would buy Israel trillions and trillions of dollars worth of solid security that would last a decade or more. 3) Israel's security situation right now is such, that there are numerous scenarios that would have it disappear within a few years or so. Looking several years forward, there is no Israel, as it exists now, under any scenario. In other words, Israel is finished. Please decide whether you want the headline to be "Israel gives a load of land to its enemies" or .....
"If we go the whole M.E goes." From your voice to g-d's ears. It would be a blessing 4 Christians everywhere.
#152: You say "after rockets have been launched at your country for 8 years, it`s time for war, dopey." -How many of the civilians killed in Cast Lead had nothing whatsoever to do with rockets? Was it okay to kill them just because they were Palestinian? #154: Your clinical view of the mistreatment of Gazans is a mixture of sad and funny. Could you calculate how many children should be killed, please? #164: a) A pro-Israel group can get away with almost anything in the United States. Pro-Muslim groups must be very careful. b) Your logic ("are you critical of the US constitution as well") is so poor its funny. Skipped a lot of classes did you? Me too. c) What about it (highly disproportionate criticism)? What is your point there? Are you saying people criticize Israel too much? How low a standard would you like Israelis held to?
Ask the protesters how many human shields did Hamas use when trying to attack innocent Israeli civilians. They would be funny if they weren't so pathetic.
There will be no peace unless moderates become the dominant voices on both sides. I'm afraid we are a long way off right now.
Unfortunately, they are few and far between. I'm afraid that these students are the rule rather than the exception.
if it was netenyaho, barak,or tiviz it would ve been much juicier
"If they had been pro-Israel they would not have been arrested in the US, at this point." Except, pro-Israelis HAVE been arrested for disturbing an event. "Arrest" simply means taken into custody, even if only for 2 minutes." At least now you admit that supporters of israel are just the same when it comes to other people speaking out against Israel. Its not like you are admitting anything new. Pro-Israeli people have been known to be very violent and have even threatened the lives of many that speak out. Here it is you just ruined all the hard work of your little zionist hasbara buddies to make it seem like these muslim protestors are so evil and uncivilized. Im glad you came forth and admitted it although you did it unknowingly. Hope you dont get demoted down to PFC Hasbara soldier now. You work hard for those little blue and white stripes.
Obama's and J Street's "Moderate" Muslims in California University Obama and Jewish obamistas claim that the American Muslims are different from the European Muslims. The events described by Natasha dispose of these lies. Unless Jewish and non-Jewish students do not organize themselves and let the Jihadis rule American schools, no Israeli leaders or American Jewish leaders will be invited and would be able to speak publicly in the American colleges. The cowardly behavior of Jewish students who are more numerous by many times than the Islamists is a reality for the last thirty years. It is a real shame that the American Jews and their children are extremely cowardly. At least one thing we should do all: not to vote for the Jewish obamistas, and do not donate even one penny to Obama.
...when the world stops enabling Arab delusions and confronts them with the truth -- they've been at war with Israel since before its very existence, for over a century now. One hundred years later, Israel exists and is thriving, with a vibrant culture, democracy and economy while the Arab world slips into the dark ages. Time to be direct -- the Arabs fought, they lost, and should abandon their fantasies and make the best deal they can.
"he Palistinian extremist terrorist from Gaza. Israel has always defended against the rocket attacks, and while doing so has been called the aggressor by people of Islam." Im Catholic and I call them aggressors , and not only do I call them aggressors I call them oppressors as well. There are Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, Christians, Copts, Orthodox Christians as well as many other people of different faiths that will also say the same. Dont just say its only muslims. I guess if someone took your well and then decided to dole it out to you in teaspoons while they drank pailfuls you would just sit there and watch them drink in front of you, coward. Your family must feel safe and secure with you around creampuff. Lets just hope you are not american and that we are never invaded. Someone like you would lay down and bend over for the invaders while their family is robbed, beaten and demoralized. You must be proud of yourself.
This same exact scenario unfolded when Danny Ayalon came to speak at the London School of Economics last fall. Unfortunately, the school administration condoned the heckling, rather than arrested the detractors for disturbing the peace like they should have.
when are you guys going to stop making spurious and false allegations about massacres, and realize that the only way ever the Palestinians will achieve their legitimate right to Statehood is by growing up and stopping the blame game. all of you guys be interfering with the speakers' legitimate right to freedom of expression are only serving to entrench this decade old policy of retribution. your time is better spent by going to the movies: instead of going to heckle at these rallies go and see Invictus and learn about a true and courageous liberation struggle.
The mature action - attacking the speaker by throwing a clown nose (some sort of red ball, in any case) - was what the Jewish student activists did to Ahmadinejad, in addition to heckling. It really proved their point, and helped their cause!
Who was the professor telling them that they will fail their exams? That brings more shame to professors than the student's actions. While shouting is not a positive way to address the problem, in this country Israel has a megaphone compared to Palestine's whisper.
Especially those studying Engineering or Nuclear Physics. I mean, really, America is at war with Islamic Extreme nations. Men and women of the US Military die for their country every day. So, how come these radicals live and study in the US. In Kalifornia and Schwarzenegger..! Something is really screwed up in Washington. Then again, who really understands the nature of the gracious president.? Maybe he is a dreamer.?? Or is he a tool..? Somehow, I do firmly believe that this is the last Democratic Government for the next decade. Also the first and last Afro American to become president. What a pity, for all good intentions were lost. For the weak cannot expect respect or neither goodwill from those intent on destroying the Great Nation of the United States of America. Good night America, for you have voted. Now, its payback. Guten abend Herr Governator.
Yes, Adam Newman did indeed say the heckling was well=planned, but I believe also insinuated that it was ill-conceived. Or did you stop reading after "well-planned"? You read what you wanted to see, and that was as far as you were going? As Ziad wrote in post#7, "Ideology = No Communication"
38m muslims in europe.....christians now too scared to do anything. usa, open yr eyes before it's too late.
Ziad, way to be a critical thinker! You must be awfully lonely here on the "talkback".
"The US has much greater freedom of speech." Really? You should come to a knesset one day and listen to the vitriol comments made by the Arab members of Parliament about the country they represent and who pays their fat wages. "The man should have been free to spout his lies and propaganda without interruption" Now just because his ( the Ambassador) comments don't jive with your interpretation and "opinions" of that region does not mean it lies or propaganda. Simply making those blanket statments make you just as pathetic as those muslim hecklers.
This would explain Mrgrs. Durson's silence on the topic as juicy as this one.
...my friend sitting behind me yelled out in support of Oren after the Muslim students were kicked out. The cops walked over to take him away and were only rebuffed when the event organizer waved them away and gave my friend a warning.
and Jews being around 3 millenia--(is that this weeks number) have more rights than anyone else who lived there. In that case better get your ass out of San Diego --the Native americans have been there for millenia. It is you that is the complete fool SDHD. have you ever been with a woman for more than 5 minutes before you have to run off to your pc or bore her to tears with zionist claptrap. What is all that "RACKET" I hear going on under your pc. Bit of the old DIY SDHD.
We will ignore for the moment that these Muslim Pro_PAL anti-Israeli zealots are paid propaganda agitators..and suppose they honestly believe in their "cause" and get not pay to be there to heckle.. So why not Jews and their "friends" (if any) on campus go and heckle when the Muslim scocities there bring in speakers...A few "MOHAMED was a big Jew-Killer THUG " chants or "Islam is a Supremacist Un-Democratic Religion" or "A Jewess Poisoned Mohammed -that WAR CRIMINAL-to Death and ALLAH let him suffer in pain for 3 years before this gangster died --Let's Salute HER bravery!" -you know chants like that ought to shut them up -heckle them good..real good... 2 can play at uncivility -if thats what these animals want.
this is double standart, is ok for jews but not for muslim?
The Moslems, just like the fascists of yesteryear and the leftists of today, cannot stand free speech. They have no counter arguments to what is being said, and so they prevent their opponents from speaking. We must combat them mercilessly in order to preserve our freedom of speech.
However, this kind of behavior is on many American campuses because of the liberal staff and professors that never saw a Muslim or Palestinian they didn't love. Finding a campus that respects conservative thought is tough. Gone are the days of freedom of speech and or thought from these borish liberals.
I don't blame him for feeling embarrassed. I'm embarrassed by the courts in the Netherlands at the moment over Wilders trial. Yes, I will still die Dutch.
In due time the US authorities will kick those muslim thugs out of here. Time to deport them back to their Arabian desert where they belong.
when the same group, MSA/MSU, can and does invite their own brand of speakers to denigrate all Jews. They are never shouted down or treated with disrespect. What good does it do them to show their ignorance and rudeness to a diplomat? They could have asked questions. Instead they made their own cause look bad. Freedom of speech is for everyone. What a bunch of babies.
Are you self-hated Mineiro? Don't you see your president Lula loves the Palestinian People? Viva Palestina! and viva Rosa my Brazilian girl friend.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ceroHrGKVk Nobody in their right mind admits an enemy supporter in a time of war, thats irresponsible and a security risk.Nothing to do with freedom of speech.

The thing is Stiff, you find criticism of Israel boring. Fair enough. I find all the endless justifications for the occupation and the settlements boring. You know what I'd like? Both Israel and Pals, and the Srabs have a uniqely useless set of leaders, all concerned with their own welfare and power, and none of them with any vision or much integrity. Still that's what we're stuck with. So I'd like the US to do what it did with Bosnia. Stick all the useless leaders in a hangar in the mid-west and don't let them out until there's a peace deal on all issues. Huge pressure on all sides to compromise and not too much respect for any of them because they don't dserve it. We all already pretty much know the deal, 1967 borders, with one for one land swaps on limited areas and a token right of return for a hunderd thousand or so Pals, plus compensation for other Pals and other Jews forced from Arab countries. How about that? You sign up to that? Or is peace and compromise too boring?
Facts!!! Fascist anti semitic press and religious leaders in the Arab world cause 90% of Arabs to have a negative view of Israeli's while 35% of Israeli Arabs have that. The nonsense violent protest at the campus show that Muslims are often misguided anti semites and that has nothing to do with Israeli actions. It is time that selfrighteous Jews like those at Columbia university understand this. Israel is a democracy while non of the Muslim states is a true democracy!! So... those muslims who claim Israel is a pariah state while welcoming Sudanese and Iranian leaders and in secret admiring Usama bin Laden are the ones who need to change their tune as they are not standing for any democratic nor human rights.
Why don't you have a discussion with an Egyptian Christian? A Coptic. They will tell you how they have been discriminated upon by the muslims and how the Christian population in Egypt has dwindled down to a mere nothing. Same in Lebanon, which was once a Christian nation. Neighbors of mine, who are Lebanese Christian, told me many stories of the tensions between the Christians and Muslims in Beirut. You actually don't know much about this situation but you do know to blame the neo cons..of course we understand what you are saying don't we Miggy.? What has happened to Ireland..pretty country filled with ugly people.
Extreme Muslims' Anti-American Anti Israel. Band the extremist from the USA and that will teach them from their wicked jihad ways!!!
What's the problem Ice? Does it hurt you to see an Arab being nice and respectful? What is your point about them being an Arab when they die? Do you hate Jews and Arabs both? The world would be a better place with more Arabs like 72 and Anwar Sadat. More warmth and less ice if you get my drift.
"SDHD 135 I bet you`d ban Haaretz if you could." And miss the opportunity to poke fun at small-minded bigots? "The irony is that people like you bother to spend time on an intelligent place like Haaretz." It's funny that you think spewing anti-Israeli idiocy is intelligent. " I`m not anti-Israel, just critical of Israel." Sure, buddy. That's why you have dozens of posts a day only criticizing Israel. " And people like Levy and Haas are far more critical of Israel than me. " So, if one person is more anti-Israeli than another person, the other person isn't anti-Israeli? "So stick that in your pipe and smoke it SDHD." I don't know what you're smoking, but it makes you stupid.
"Supposedly, Jesus said there is a time for war and a time for peace. I think that after rockets have been launched at your country for 8 years, it`s time for war, dopey." So what is it called? A christain crusade or a jewish Jihad? Lets call a spade a spade.
Anyone that knows anything about UCI knows what a hot bed for radical islamists the university is. It has a very bad reputation and that is why so many "level headed" students do not attend there. I find the statement that they "condemn and oppose"...who are they to "condemn and oppose" when their fellow radicals kill indiscriminately...when they bomb people going to mosques or fellow muslims attending weddings or funerals. Only cowards do this..and cowards they are. I would venture to say that many of these loud mouths are here on visas trying their best to push their radical views. We see what is happening in Europe so people in Irvine..people all over the U.S. listen up...wise up...and educate yourselves...the fight is coming here and we know that cowards like these fight dirty. They don't even have the common sense to know that their side is responsible for more deaths and injuries then Israel and Europe together. They support jihad and the more carnage the better.
Shouldn't you use the latest edition from God?? I guess the latest edition for Monoethiestic faiths is Koran! I know theology well.. and here are the four edition Tawrat (Torah) : Edition 1 Zabor - (Psalms, Tehillim? of hebrew Bible): Edition 2 Injil - (New testament): Edition 3 Koran - Edition 4. And by the way Christains, Jews and Muslims are all decendents of Abrahim!
Where Israelis control the land, BOTH Jews AND Arabs live there, as they did prior to 1948. From 1948-67, ONLY Arabs lived in the territories. The Arabs ethnically cleansed every single Jew. After 1967, Jews were able to live there again. The Arabs are demanding the 1967 territories back again, Jew-free. Who's trying to steal the land?
I'm rolling on the ground laughing! LOL
You don't have to write anything which you didn't except the subject line. Your blogging name says it all. There is an eastern saying..If a cow lifts its tail, it's just going to poop and not sing!
This Talkback has become sooooo boooring. Every story the same old posters show up. Michael,Natallie Durson, Lahbras, Sivienne, Miggy, Mark Lincoln,Roo,Tony Silver and lets no forget our old friend Swiss Dino.I am beginning to think that they are all Haaretz paid bashers to try to add some life to the site. All with the same agenda, all blaming but not one with a solution that would bring peace to the area and guarantee Israels existence. Do you really think that going back to the 1967 borders and pulling out all the settlers would be bring peace. Would Iran, Hamas, Herzbollah and Syria sign off on the deal. Would every Muslim country accept it. If so why did they not do it before 1967. Why the three no's in Khartoum after 1967. Why the 1973 war. Just remember one thing. If you are hoping that Iran takes out out. If we go the whole M.E goes. You will be living in tents with no oil for power or gas or anything. You will sit in the cold and dark and howl at the moon. Remember then!!
Shame on you professor! I don?t see a lot of postings from you but whenever you get a chance you try to distance yourself from any protest against Israel. What?s your issue? Identity crisis or Elitism? No matter how hard you try but you will still die an arab.
haven't got the slightest clue of Christ's teachings. Truly shocking.
Oops, the salvation is not for you, agnostics and atheits. Its very clear ffrom your hatred posts.
"If they had been pro-Israel they would not have been arrested in the US, at this point." Except, pro-Israelis HAVE been arrested for disturbing an event. "Arrest" simply means taken into custody, even if only for 2 minutes. "134 Are you justifying the Israeli tactic of preventing certain `enemies of the state` from exercising liberties, such as free travel? Could you also say "at least they did not assassinate him"?" Liberties are often reduced in times of war. Read the U.S. Constitution some time. Are you critical of the U.S. constitution as well? Some people are smart enough to know that when national security is threatened, liberties are reduced. "Are you saying that since dissent is still tolerated in many avenues within Israel, that therefore Israel should not be criticized?" What about highly disproportionate criticism?
" I can`t remember the bit where he clambered into a helicopter and rocketed the nearest bunch of sinners, killing a few women and children as collateral damage." Michael is the same "collateral damage" as the 550 men, women and children targeted by Hamas suicide bombers. Is this the same "collateral damage" as the thousands maimed, burnt and blinded in terrorist attacks. Or is this the same "Collateral damage" as the 8,000 rockets fired in civilian areas. What about Shalit is this also "collateral damage" Its so funny how all you anti Israel posters have an agenda that only sees one side of the issue. All Hamas had to do on their takeover of Gaza was to recognize the State of Israel, Adhere to prevous agreements and cease all acts of terrorism. Thats why we pulled out all the Jews and made the area Judenrein. There would of been no closing of the borders. So what did they do Michael. In your hatred of Jews you have become an apologist and supporter of terrorism.
Irvine welcomes Ambassador Oren. UCI is known for its hothead fundamentalist contingent, for whom the truth is a hard thing to hear. Well dome Michael and thanks very much for coming to Orange County.
'Indeed, professor Oren was heckled and it was well planned,' Well, good. From my attempts to participate in the agitation against 'Cast Lead,' the one thing Arabs in this country definitely lack is organization. Maybe they're getting it together.
... which is mantra for the left to repeat ad nauseum until it is hopefully believed, is supposed to conjure up in the ignorant listener's mind gangs of Jews roaming around the WB in the dark of night with shovels and wheelbarrows. It is sad how this image can convince the poor college freshman to sign up for a 3rd grade protest. News flash: Land is bought and sold in the WB just like it is in Surrey, Oslo, or Denver. A buyer and a seller, and money. There is no stealing going on.
Just looking at #1s response. It's interesting how people get confused. Freedom of speech has to do with protection from being oppressed by the government (see Lenny Bruce). If other people don't like what you are saying they too have the freedom of speech (this case - though one can't yell and disturb the peace) or even boycott the person (see Don Imus). Freedom of speech does not mean you can say "yell fire in a crowded theater" or just shouting someone down at a private event. Nor does it mean you can say whatever you want and not have consequences (again, others responding, boycotts and so forth).
"I wasn`t there because I was taking part in an action at UCLA... Today we will be at Loyola where Oren will be peddling more zionist propaganda." You mean you travel from LA to Chicago over night in order to harass Israeli diplomats? That's shows a deep level of commitment. Who is "we"? Be careful. You are transporting and internationalizing this conflict. It will come back to haunt you.
The only one who appears to be listening is Haaretz--a slow news day.
Hello Jushua, please do not put Isreal on same level of USA. The government of Israel showed to the world do not care about human and the international law. You know clearly the action of your government toward human, so please do not claim you care about human.
"My question is Gaza a genocide. The Palestinian protestors call Gaza a genocide, as well as some well-known Turks; and compare Jews to Nazis. Is this cheap propaganda?" Is the Gaza population increasing or decreasing?
Thanks for the support and solidarity! How about learning the facts before siding with the trend?
" Evangelical 132 Think Jesus would cheer Cast Lead?" Supposedly, Jesus said there is a time for war and a time for peace. I think that after rockets have been launched at your country for 8 years, it's time for war, dopey.
I attended Ambassador Oren's attempted speech, and I was bothered by both the Jewish Federation of Orange County (they should have known better) and UCI's poor security arrangements. When I first entered the hall I notified security that a large group of UCI students were wearing T-shirts with very large "FREE PALESTINE" slogans on them, clearly violating the posted rules. Nothing was done by Chancellor Drake except mouth platitudes about how students will be students, and this important event turned into a shouting match by students who might have learned something but who preferred to deny the guest speaker freedom of speech! As Ambassador Oren pointed out, these dissenters had every right to be there and to ask difficult questions, but not to scream "killer" during his remarks. Chancellor Drake should be more than embarrassed by his student' egregious behavior, he should be ashamed, for it is his policies that allowed this fiasco to happen.
In California, the overall atmosphere of "political correctness" and tolerance is constantly abused by these exact type of Haters. In the news reports out here, it was reported that non-students were responsible. Essentially, these people are arrogantly trying to dictate what students hear and don't hear. It is a demonstration of an anti-democracy ideology that is so convinced of its own superiority that it grants NO rights to others. This is the tip of the iceberg as to thuggish behavior. In the past, in San Francisco, these same type of Haters have physically attacked Jewish counter-protesters in B.A.R.T. after they had left an event when they thought that no one was looking. Escalation by these folks is inevitable as they seem to think that they are above U.S. law, snd even if arrested, won't be prosecuted.
Day? Yet you couldn't manage another second to post a link? I know its either crap or a comment taken completely out of context which is why I mentioned 'editing'. Post a link or else I shan't waste my time.
Since some of my Armenian relatives were victims of the Armenian genocide, denied by the Turks, I got interested in genocide education and prevention. I am donating books and photos I have to the newly to be Armenian Genocide Museum in Washington, D.C. My question is Gaza a genocide. The Palestinian protestors call Gaza a genocide, as well as some well-known Turks; and compare Jews to Nazis. Is this cheap propaganda? Will this kind of language achieve what they want? In all consideration to the genocides committed in the recent past: Armenia (and many before), Rwanda, Holocaust, Darfur (even Cambodia and Kurds in Iraq and Ukraine), what is Gaza? I think this has to be examined more carefully.
b"H The correct response to this is to cancel all speaking engagements by US politicians here in Eretz Yisrael until the USA guarantees 100% that there will be no such heckling again, when an Israeli speaks in public there.
is considered a legal document in any normal court run by normal people. Rerligious zealots migh see it so but so waht. "You do not know your history very well. If you go to the oldest history book, the Bible, God gave this land to Abram and his decendants forever, in Genesis 15:18. Israel has the only God given deed to their land in the world. Check it out!!"dorothy By the way---who witnessed the signature and which title company handled the transfer. Copy of the deed please???. Grow up dorothy---fairytales are for kids. The bible is a book writeen by Jews ---for Jews.
#133 Valid point, but it does not address the motives of those who created an 'overt public disturbance'. If they had been pro-Israel they would not have been arrested in the US, at this point. #134 Are you justifying the Israeli tactic of preventing certain 'enemies of the state' from exercising liberties, such as free travel? Could you also say "at least they did not assassinate him"? #135 Are you saying that since dissent is still tolerated in many avenues within Israel, that therefore Israel should not be criticized?
It was the thugs who would rather riot than study who tried to cause trouble. One day maybe they will grow up into anti-Israel talkbackers.
I know he was into overturning money-changers' tables. I can't remember the bit where he clambered into a helicopter and rocketed the nearest bunch of sinners, killing a few women and children as collateral damage. Which gospel was that in? Matthew, Mark, Luke or John?
The irony is that people like you bother to spend time on an intelligent place like Haaretz. I'm not anti-Israel, just critical of Israel. And people like Levy and Haas are far more critical of Israel than me. So stick that in your pipe and smoke it SDHD.
The Palistinian extremist terrorist from Gaza. Israel has always defended against the rocket attacks, and while doing so has been called the aggressor by people of Islam.
You go girl! Ultimately, the only way to get a genuinely free Palestine with something like 1967 borders and a capital in E. Jerusalem is by removing US governments' blind support for Israel. And that can only be done by educating people, weaning them off Fox News and exposing Oren's and AIPAC's cheap Likudnik propaganda.
What do you mean? That we all should take a racist view like you and simply do not care about what Muslim citizens feel and say, just because they are Muslims?
"The Israeli government silences its critics -sometimes brutally as with peaceful demonstrators against the wall." You probably aren't aware that they often throw stones against Israeli soldiers and police at those "peaceful" protests.
"#Millenia? Palestinians? Jews have been here for 3 millenia."ER. So have Palestinians and Christians." Christians have only been around for 2 millenia, moron. Rome started calling the area Palestine 2000 years ago as well.
"Apparently not, since the demonstrators were arrested and Oren was only prepared to deliver Likudnik propaganda but wasn`t prepared to answer questions about what his country`s been up to recently." Funny how you can regularly post your inane anti-Israeli rubbish on an Israeli newspaper's web site, isn't it?
"They won`t allow a Palestinian cartographer to leave Israel and travel abroad for "security" reasons. That`s hardly freedom of speech." Do they have a gag on his mouth as well?
... between freedom of speech and overt public disturbance.
or the 550 Israeli deaths due to suicide bombings. No! what a surprise. i have seen some of these MSU types on American campuses, they never admit that the Palis do anything wrong. that they are aggressors and not victims.
Having such a low life speak on a California campus is what is outrageous. I wasn't there because I was taking part in an action at UCLA where Daniel Taub from Israel's Foreign Affairs Ministry was making ridiculous statements which were supposed to justify Israel's most recent massacre in Gaza. Today we will be at Loyola where Oren will be peddling more zionist propaganda.
The students screamed the word 'murderer' at Oren, and did not just call him a killer. The difference is that sometimes killing is justified like in some wars. If the students couldn't simply wait, and ask the ambassador why Israel felt the need to act in 2008 against Hamas then they just don't deserve to be there. As Oren said later from the podium, "This isn't London or Jerusalem, but it isn't Teheran either." Have those students no shame? Well, they seem to care more that the side they oppose never is heard, so I guess it's a victory for them.
He got off easy compared to victims of the Gaza massacre. He's a right wing creep and makes for a lousy ambassador- he's very unpopular in DC outside rightwing Jewish circles. Does nothing to foward the interests of decent Israelis.
Mazel tov. Time to bring out the violins.
I'm sure Joshua is much more of an American than you are and his ancestors have been here longer. And talking about dual loyalties, you seem to have your own to "Hamas" or the Islamic Caliphate. "real Americans with no `dual loyalties`... your `promised land` is NO democracy, so please make `Aliyah` SOON."
Jose Pedro is an israeli agent in Belo Horizonte,Brasil. All his posts proves this fact. I lived in Brazil for some years and I was surprised to see Brazilians love the Palestinian People, and condemn israeli land grabbing of the oppressed Palestinians.
Yeah I remember The Concordia incident...or was it McGill What fools...it only got worst since.
Miggy, true. There are also churches in UAE, Bahrain,Damascus, Kuwait, Sudan, Egypt and more. Synagogues as well, including the most recently renovated one in Beirut
If Iran had arrested a bunch of protesters we`d hear no end of condemnation, but when the protesters are protesting an Israeli, well, it`s a good thing they got arrested!
?The Goldstone Report goes further than Ahmadinejad and the Holocaust deniers by stripping the Jews not only of the ability and the need but of the right to defend themselves.? - Michael Oren Of course freedom of speech, and freedom of listening to someone you want to hear should be respected. But the fact is that I don't feel sorry for Oren. He probably would have repeated stupidities such as the quote I bring above. A denier of reality should not deal with reality in public. It would cause too much pain to realistic people.
that israhellis are not jews and that all the capitals are targeted?
"It`s absolutely beautiful when people stand up for what they believe in! Good job students!" Standing up for what you believe in is not what matters, Jen. Nazi's stood up what they believed in - slavery, torture, and murder. American southerners also stood up for what they believed in - slavery, torture, persecution, and oppression. Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu stood for what they believed in as well - freedom and equality. The difference between them is the value to man of what you believe in. What I believe in is Israel and a nation called Palestine side by side, at peace. That, I believe, is worth standing up for. But disruption of the ambassador's speech is wrong and counter-productive. Anyone who doesn't want to hear it shouldn't attend and should find other peaceful means to protest. These students could have offered their alternative point of view to the public by better means than attempting to deny an ambassador the right to speak.
The man should have been free to spout his lies and propaganda without interruption. That way, he could best be refuted and his bias laid to bare. The suggestion that the students' actions undermines freedom of speech in the US is ridiculous. The government had nothing to do with this. The article does not say, but I assume the disruptive persons were removed so that he could continue his speech - as they should have been. The students have free speech rights, but that does not extend to speaking in such a way that keeps someone else from speaking. They should have silently held up signs. It is particularly offensive that this happened on a college campus, where freedom of speech is especially important. The Israeli government silences its critics -sometimes brutally as with peaceful demonstrators against the wall. Its sad these students interfered with the speech but he was eventually able to continue. The US has much greater freedom of speech.
Same thing happened last year here when an Israeli minister was here to speak..... these idiot palestine society members just wouldn't let him get a word out. Shouting and screaming like idiots. When all you can do is shout and scream and interupt hysterically it doesn't say much for your arguments. Wouldn't it make much more sense if you truely had a decent opposing argument to actually state it so we could all hear it. But of course you don't do you. It must be frustrating being so full of impotent rage
PROTESTS your term not mine. Ahmadinejad visited Columbia was not shouted down so that does not count? The other was at the UN. You can't spell but I dont have an education right.?
Thank you Ziad for being a voice of reason. You state the problem as it seems to show itself more and more. Because of Ideology people are not willing to listen, rather the shout down others with contrary views. Universities must be placec where differing views on subjects are discussed.
but it doesn't seem. Now israel is going to label those students as ant-zionist etc.etc. The same old words!
as ever the site hypocrite. now American zionists will label the student as "terrorists". Then more hatred to America and its israel in the Muslim World.
So glad that he was heckled, not burned with white phoshorous, dime, or even decapitated in front of his kids.
I'm calling you on this one. "Finklestein also called for destruction of Israel on the scale of Germany and Japan in one of his video debates" It sounds more like a typically hysterical Dershowitz slander or a 'Camera.Org' piece of duplicitous editing. Source please? P.S. Then you clearly don't support freedom of speech or movement for academics.
You do not know your history very well. If you go to the oldest history book, the Bible, God gave this land to Abram and his decendants forever, in Genesis 15:18. Israel has the only God given deed to their land in the world. Check it out!!
then go back to my earlier post. "Just like the Ahmadinejad protests" Nothing in there about shoutung Ahmadinejad down (((at Columbia))). You made that up. They tried at Columbia but the Jewish studentswere unsuccessful. At the UN conference they were successful. Read #69! I bet you never got much of an education?
There are approximately 1.5 million Gazan Palestinians so I am assuming the balance 5.5 million are spread over the West Bank and other neighboring Arab countries. For the Gazans, they might be lacking some amentities but they are well fed. Noone is dying of malnutrition and if they stop Hamas and militants firing into israel , they will not get shot back at. For the pals in the West Bank, they have a better life than the Gazans. So no complaints there. For the Pals in the surrounding Arab countries...that is probably the place where they get the least amount of rights. still being cooped up in refugee camps. Never being allowed to become citizens of the countries. When Hamas and Islamic Jihad and the PA accept Israel's right to exist, all the walls and roadblocks will come. There. That's my comment.
It is a good thing to oppose Israeli politics of landgrab etc. (Finkelstein), it is a bad thing to arrouse hate and discrimination with lies and insinuations (as does Wilders).
lots of things get out of controll once there is firing going on,people get killed.Press get killed all the time in combat zones. Who stopped the press going through Egypt, anti Israel activists do,more than once. There was no firing from Sderot was there?
I'm calling you on this one. "Finklestein also called for destruction of Israel on the scale of Germany and Japan in one of his video debates" It sounds more like a typically hysterical Dershowitz slander or a 'Camera.Org' piece of duplicitous editing. Source please? P.S. Then you clearly don't support freedom of speech or movement for academics.
Hi Philipe, The thinking of the protesters was not very sophisticated. Their end was the disruption itself and not winning over hearts and minds. When groups like this protest here and in Europe, they frankly turn far more people off to their views than make them sympathetic. Having sat in the audience last night while the heckling was going on, it was pretty obvious that dialogue was not part of the event, which is sad, since the majority of Ambassador Oren's time was for question and answer not his speech, and the moderator, was one who wanted to ask him tough questions and to allow the audience to do the same. He's no conservative either and said more than once how ashamed he was by the hecklers.
...Oren pays much too much attention to politically idealogy than performing Ambassadoral duties, which includes a "little P.R." with unrulely American dissenters of his home country. He advocates a position that is not good for the U.S.
then go back to my earlier post. "Just like the Ahmadinejad protests" Nothing in there about shoutung Ahmadinejad down (((at Columbia))). You made that up. They tried at Columbia but were unsuccessful. At the UN conference they were successful. Read #69! I bet you never got much of an education?
Samos, UC Irvine allowed about 150 of the hecklers into the speech. I loved having them there. Did more to advance Israel's cause than Oren's speech. Let them pursue their impotent rage, since they are not interested in peace-see Intifada 2.
Why does the world have to play nice with Israel, when Israel won't play nice with the world?
and anti Israel propogandist is persona non grata in a war situation,he IS a security risk. When he can say"Hezbollah represents the hope" http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/942454.html -who does he mean? Israel?Finklestein also called for destruction of Israel on the scale of Germany and Japan in one of his video debates.! "He promised"?hardly makes him trustworthy not to cause damage, anything from scouting targets for Hezb. next Jewish center action onwards for the "hope". I do not agree with Wilders, but Wilders does not support the enemies of Britain,so not exactly a valid comparison to Finklestein is it?
Professor, what happened the human rights of 7 million Palesteninas? Answers are welcomed.
It is a sad situation when so many posters on Haaretz live and breathe to find stories in which they can relish the bashing of Israel. Again today this story about Muslim students in a California university calling an Israeli ambassador a "killer". As if the these same muslim students can find no fault of killing in any other place around the world except in Israel. At least every other day I read in the newspapers about Mulims killing other Muslims or other religious sects. Multiple killing of men, women ,and children on the streets. Men at worship in their mosques. Not a peep from from these students or even the students in the universities of the cities being bombed. And the Israeli bashers eat it up. They cannot wait to read tomorrow's Haaretz.
Well the Swiss are ones to talk about right wing politics, haven't they just recently banned the construction of a certain type of Muslim architecture?
Remember Folke Bernadotte..
After Germany had approved buying Swiss bank secrets on German tax evaders ,bypassing Swiss criminal Goverments protests ,also Denmark and Sweden expressed interest in purchasing such informations on their citizens. Dino comforts himsef by howling about Israel ,but the truth is his existence base ,helping drug lords and tax evaders shrinks by the hour.
Really, really short speech. He probably wasn't defeated by the hecklers. That 20 minute break was probably while he sent out desperate texts saying 'I've run out of things to say. Give me something, anything!'
Did nobody post her bail?
Israel drove out the Palestinians by force! Do you know something about the 1948 year and the 1st Israeli-Arabs recognized as war? Go learn! Israel took the land by force! How, by mean of agricultural tools the first Jewish immigrants had?! You speak about international law. Such law has to be complied by everyone signed it. Not just by the survivors of the Holocaust! Face the truth indeed: too many pasions and too many saints undermine any decency you noted! I cannot see ANY sign of cooperation with us, but 3 words in every speech: Zion, blood, death!
Thank you for setting the record straight. On Israel's policies re: Deportation, Demolishing homes, Building Settlements on Palestinian Land, Restricting freedom of speech (Goldstone Report), Killing 1300 palestinians in Gaza, Continued siege of Gaza ...should I go on?
"Reading those pages it shows that israel is the most hated country in the world followed by Iran. The only difference is that Iran does not occupy any of its neighbours territories. This is a fact." [P in F] You mean reading the talkbacks. Go to any Arab paper and read their talkbacks. Oh, there is no such thing? Yes, you can read a lot of hate in these talkbacks, only because Israel allows freedom of speech, which is abused by the crazys as much as it is enjoyed by the sane.
The Kurds do not have a charter for the destruction of Iran have they?
James miller of the UK was murdered by an IDF soldier because he was trying to make a documentry in Gaza. The same Gaza that Israel banned all press from during Cast Lead
I would be a nice think to know what would have been the reaction of the BETAR or LDJ with a speech from Abbas in any University...for those you don't those people...just google..
"They managed to keep the protesters out of the hall at COLUMBIA. Had they got in that is exactly what they WERE INTENDING to do."Your quote. So please make up your mind did they or didnt they.? "Intending"! So Columbia student they shoutED him down did they? "Columbia student" draws attention to COLUMBIA U. It did NOT happen THERE.
If Iran had arrested a bunch of protesters we'd hear no end of condemnation, but when the protesters are protesting an Israeli, well, it's a good thing they got arrested! Just like when Iran MIGHT be building a nuclear weapon there are no end to the condemnations, but when Israel builds a bunch of Dimona, then Mordechai Vanunu exposes it, then is kidnapped by the Mossad, then spends 18 years in prison for exposing Israel's lies and 11 of them in solitary confinement, you only heard about it in a Human Rights Watch. I am tired of Israeli hypocrisy, the entire country seems to be built upon it.
....means, that he was probably rather focused on milk and pacifiers than the ME conflict...:)
Michael Oren is an exAmerican who of course speaks English as his mother tongue. He is sauve if not glib and a perfect mouth piece for Israel's propaganda. He is as right wing as lieberman, and supports the same criminal policies of occupation. But in an university setting, speech with which one disagrees should be met with other speech, not heckling. Universities are one of the few institutions where all views should be able to be heard, and then countered with other counter views, ones that are substantive in their rebuttal. That should not have been hard in confronting the line that Oren was propagating. These protesters should have protested silently and had others from their ranks who asked very pointed questions.
Jose Pedro is, as always, correct. I AM worried about my country. So are tens of millions of my fellow citizens. By the way, since the USA is YOUR country, why are you so concerned about events thousands of miles away from YOUR COUNTRY, Flora. The Europeans are overrun by a people wanting to return to the 7th Century. We DO NOT want this in the US. Israel has OUR FULL SUPPORT.
you say "It`s amazing how evolution occurs at differnt rates for different species. " Would you care to elaborate on your views??
Besides, State and individuals arent equals.
hated country in the world followed by Iran. The only difference is that Iran does not occupy any of its neighbours territories. This is a fact.
There were churches in Iraq for millenia until all the neo-cons and their Zionist supporters launched an invasion of that country and ignited a sectarian conflagration. You pick the one Arabic country, Saudi Arabia, where there may not be churches (I'm accepting your word on that) and use it to generalize for all Arabs and Arabic countries. Not accurate.
covered in Muslin perhaps?
that J Street people, including Ben-Ami, were behind this "intellectual" discourse. Anyone knows?
Shame on you, Muslim students in Irvine. This is not the way to behave. I mean, we should respect freedom of speech on campus. You really embarrass professors like me in California. (Thanks Olivia)
A few years ago, Bibi was scheduled to speak at Concordia U in Quebec. The crowds of stone-throwing Arabs drove campus police and prospective audience members to flight and prevented him from speaking. Arabs really belive in free speech and freedom of religion, which is why there are so many churches and synagogues in Saudi Arabia,
someone mentioned about hariri going to shake hands with his fathers killer.in case you've been asleep, the son said recently that israel killed his father.and anybody with any logic would see who the perpetrators were.why do you think the un hasnt issued a report?us and israeli pressure.
"He had to stop speaking while they quietened the crowd down? Do tell." They managed to keep the protesters out of the hall at Columbia. Had they got in that is exactly what they were inteding to do. I know this from first hand accounts by Jewish members of Campus Watch who were openly boasting that was what they were going to do. Jewish students elsewhere were more successful though. "The European Union of Jewish Students was thrown out of the conference after taking part in demonstrations against the Iranian president. Its accreditation and that of its 100 participants was withdrawn for the vociferous way they showed their anger at Mr Ahmadinejad?s speech. Among the group were Jewish students from Britain who were part of a political task force co-ordinated by Union of Jewish Students campaigns director Yair Zivan." http://thejc.com/news/world-news/european-students-are-ejected See?
Wilders was not entering the UK as a diplomat or ambassador but in order to spread a message of hate. In the UK there are a rather large number of ethnic groups apart from Muslims and a very large number of whites who are repulsed by Wilders. When someone who uses false statistics to spread alarm about Muslim takeover of the UK then of course it is likely to lead to violence and it was correct to keep him out so long as his visit was intended for public speaking. Now how about Israel, who won't even allow a Jew to visit Israel on a private visit and denied him entry to the country for the next 10 years, even though he has undertaken not to engage in any political activities or public speaking during any visit? I am talking about Norman Finklestein. Do you think Israel was right to deny him entry? Article by Richard Silverstein: http://www.normanfinkelstein.com/more-on-deportation/

Seriuosly, with the exception of a few colleges, you can flush them down the toilet. Europe has much more prestigous Universities than USA. WE come to learn, not to party or behave like fools.

there was no Israel before that. #Millenia? Palestinians? Jews have been here for 3 millenia."ER So have Palestinians and Christians. Who feeds you this bunkum.

"Represents a state that continues to break international and humanitarian law and is condemned by more UN Human Rights Council resolutions than all other countries in the world combined" I guess their native countries did better in these areas ha!!??
but you shudder at the sight of truth---dont you psm. You cringe and hide in a corner until the "scourge of reality" passes you by. Poor sad fellow---going to your grave having never embraced the truth.
UC Davis is the wine college, and UC Irving appears to be the 'whine' college. How appropriate!

Joshua Felice, you need to get your facts straight... as anti-democratic as the interruptions at UCI were, it's a long tradition... and as an Israeli you are in NO position to lecture fellow, but real, Americans with no 'dual loyalties'... your 'promised land' is NO democracy, so please make 'Aliyah' SOON.
Let's them take a taste what Israel has suffering in 60 years, they want to import terror, lets the terror dominate them, especialy when Israel gain more territory by future defensive wars.
Here is a guy who is a poster child of what is plaguing this country. WHen the US is attracting, with it's democratic values, attracts millions of proud to be US citizens, Michael Oren, lile most American Jews have a preference to belong to ISrael. Their only affiliation to the US is that it remain a second safe harbor if all else fails . Shame on you.
Millenia? Palestinians? Jews have been here for 3 millenia. Cook's Tourists' Handbook for Palestine and Syria (1876) (search it at archive.org) p65 says Jews outnumbered Muslims in Jerusalem 3:1, when Palestine was under Muslim rule (and in Tiberias 2:1)! On p6 of same you will read that Palestine is part of Syria, and the name is a term Christians use for the Holy Land (and not by any local Muslims).
"Freedom of speech is an Israeli value (Israel is the only country in the Middle East with freedom of speech)" Over 1300 in Gaza, many of them children, don`t have freedom of speech any more, since cast lead. Israeli value ?
....why I was calling for some (non-violent) "moderation/restraint".
Israel drove out the (majority of the) Palestinians by force. Israel took the land by force. Israel destroyed hundreds of Palestinian villages. This all is not allowed by rules of international law. And above all: this is not allowed by rules of decency. Face the truth! We need to work towards a sensible solution.
Instead of just leveling the accusation and using it to besmirch anyone who doesn't share your view.
or from your hasbara handbook. I await your scholarly research and subsequent indisputable proof. Not holding my breath. BTW If I remember correctly pro Israel students did their fare share of drowning out Mr Calloway. But you cant hear them---can you ---of no name or abode.
Come off it Pete, we're all flexible on freedom of speech. Can you seriously tell me that if a Hamas supporter, had been at Irvine you would be objecting if Jewish students had heckled him? Of course, you wouldn't. And neither for the record would I. Oren may not support terrorism but he is the face of an unpleasant regime that supports Jewish ethnocratic values and that has no intention of being fair to Pals or setting them free. If he can't stand a little heckling he should go and do another job. Same with any Hamas supporter speaking. If you stand up and support an organisation that targets Israeli civlians then you must expect a little heckling. It goes with the job.
they just misbehaved a little - that's all.
He had to stop speaking while they quietened the crowd down? Do tell.
lets not forget this was the same University the George Galloway the most anti Semitic British MP went to, to collect money and handed it directly to Hamas.
Only this time its the Muslim students. More often than not its Jewish groups on campus doing the same to pro Palestinian or Islamic speakers.
When it suits you. Would you not regard a British MP threatening riots to intimidate Britain as abuse of power? If yes did you protest? The eyewitness account is the protesters could have asked him questions, they chose to shout him down. They did not want to hear either.
Borders closed by Israel, exports non-exsistent, very restricted imports, no-one can get in or out, all imposed by Gaza on Israel. If you are trying to say that Hamas impose huge restrictions I'm not sure I believe that. Don't tell me Christians don't have freedom of worship there because I know that's not true. I know someone who met the head Catholic priest in Gaza and who attended Mass in Gaza, completely openly. In fact the Catholic priest was the religious affairs spokeman for Hamas for a time. The area of Palestine had a tradition of religious tolerance and religions living peaceably together before Israel was founded.
and is expected to behave as such. Comparing it to tin pot dictators is hardly an excuse or justification for it,s non democratic policies. We expect better---don,t you???.

placed a travel ban on theerby "curbing" his freedom of speech. Or how about arresting peaceful activists and intimidating them in the hope of "curbing " their fredom of speech. psm--as ever the site hypocrite.
Mark, When I went to UCI in the late 1980s, it was a very a political campus. Our focus was more on living in Newport Beach and keg parties. Partying was our form of free speech. Indeed this is not UCSB a la 1969, and hopefully, this doesn't become modern day Holland or Denmark either. Time will tell-but to be fair, tonight was non-violent. It was incredibly rude, possibly violated campus codes of conduct and certain sections of the Penal Code, but all things considered, a memorable night based on words, not violence. Adam
Freedom of speech should be respected, and it is not acceptable to prevent the Ambassador from talking and expressing his point of view. A peaceful, silent demonstration in front of the building would have been much more dignified. However, this is going to happen again and again as long as Israel occupies the West bank, just like it happened for South Africa in the past.
Lagunageno and Cipora and Peter SM all seem to be hysterics about a simple campus protest. That is all it was, a simple campus protest. And it was non violent. No banks burned to the ground. Nobody got shot. The cops held back the billy clubs. Nobody got their head broken. I'd bet every window on campus still has its glass, even. It was a simple, non-violent, peaceful college protest. Michael Oren probably saw much worse when he was still teaching. He's probably laughing at the hysteria your kind of talkback displays. Geez!
i could see violence against the east from the west, what you call violence towards the west is in its major part a trivial retaliation.
Democracies at peace don't behave the same as democracies at war. No one in their right mind claims Israel is without flaws, but when it comes to freedom of the press compared with its Arab neighbors it isn't even a close call. Try criticizing Mohammed in an Arab country and see how long your body stays in tact before it is dismembered. Perhaps to advance the cause of being even-handed, the Israelis should simply strive to have the same freedoms as Palestinians have for themselves in Gaza, how is that for a start?
Israelis simply need to realize that that their actions have consequences, and that arresting people will not change the reality of how Israel is perceived by the vast majority of the worlds population. Either change your ways or get used to being despised by where ever you travel, because decent morals and ethics are truly immortal.
I support people hassling Oren, because I don't like Netanyahu's government of extremists and opportunists. I guess you see the protesters as extremists. Maybe some of them are, but they're just protesters. But I also see Oren as an extremist, or at least a front man for extremists who hides it much better than his boss Lieberman. I don't like extremists of any description really, but particularly ones in a position of power or authprity.
Having gone to Oregon's cow college, I salute you. Touche. From all descriptions, it does sound very tame. Not at all like what happened in Santa Barbara when they got ticked off over Vietnam.
It is well known in Southern California that the Muslim Students Union at UCI is well-funded by outside sources to spread lies and misinformation about Israel and Zionism (which means that Jews also have a right to their own country). Fortunately, student organizations such as Hillel and Anteaters For Israel do not accept such rubbish lying down.
"I too will not back down in the face of adversity. I will stand strong. For I am a Jew, I am a Zionist, and I am proud of who I am. Today we, as Jewish people and Zionist, took a stand at UCI. We sent a message that we are here to stay at this campus. We also sent a message that the attempted censorship of our speech by members of the MSU will not be tolerated. Freedom of speech is an Israeli value (Israel is the only country in the Middle East with freedom of speech) and freedom of speech is an American value." Apparently not, since the demonstrators were arrested and Oren was only prepared to deliver Likudnik propaganda but wasn't prepared to answer questions about what his country's been up to recently. You might want to tone down the rhetoric as well a shade, Josh. I thought you were joking at first. Or you could try doing it in a Churchillian accent, waving a cigar. That might work.
For thousands of years my family has stood resolute in the face of persecution and maintained their Jewish identity. I too will not back down in the face of adversity. Freedom of speech is an Israeli value (Israel is the only country in the Middle East with freedom of speech) and freedom of speech is an American value. Tonight the MSU in a preplanned and coordinated attack tried to stifle freedom of speech on an academic campus. They tried to mimic the oppression of countries like Iran, but as Americans and Israelis we stood firm together in the face of oppression and triumphed. Israel is the ancestral homeland of the Jewish people and just like we will not be ran out of our country we will not be ran out of UCI. I want to thank Ambassador Michael Oren for speaking at our school and for giving me the honor to introduce him. I admire his courage, his poise, and his determination to help Israel. Ambassador Oren was the embodiment of the Jewish people and the State of Israel tonight. He persevered and triumphed despite being faced with adversity, much like we as a people and as a nation have triumphed and will continue to triumph over those that wish to see us destroyed. Joshua Felice Co-host and Coordinator of the event/UCI School of Law Student
Wow, from these comments I can tell alot of communists read this site!
the so-called "unpleasentness" has turned into extreme violence against the west on numerous occasions.
the so-called "unpleasentness" has turned into extreme violence against the west on numerous occasions.
They won't allow a Palestinian cartographer to leave Israel and travel abroad for "security" reasons. That's hardly freedom of speech. They are cracking down on NGO workers entering the West Bank. They are arresting Western activists in midnight raids and deporting them. While there is freedom of speech on Haaretz the bigger picture from the Israeli state is hardly so great. As for Israel being your ancestral country what about the people who have lived there for the past millenia i.e. the Palestinians?
Nobody is stopping J street from saying whatever they like, wherever they like, he does not have to attend, any more than I HAVE to attend a mob screaming "Hamas Hamas Jews to the gas".When a mob refuse TO LET someone speak,is that freedom of speech,by your standards?? You applaud it because? You value freedom of speech? Have you protested the criminal conviction of the Moslem mob who screamed obscenities like" baby killer, rapist etc" at returning British Servicemen? Have you protested Wilders, whether you agree with him or not, being kept out by threats of Moslem riots in Britain? If not why not? because ??? anxiuosly awaiting your reply.
Josh, Saw you at the reception and later, giving the introduction. You did a great job and were very dignified. Several of us commented on that. You know, these students actually did more to advance Israel's interests in some ways than anything Ambassador Oren could have done. They are an embarassment, and I guarantee you that the last thing Christian Americans will want to give people like that is the "papal blessing" for yet another country made up of irrational crack pots. It's amazing how evolution occurs at differnt rates for different species. Great job tonight and remember to use Gilbert's for real property and Emmanuel's for torts. Adam
I would'nt gloat if I were you, your country has more problems than it can handle and Israel has nothing to do with these problems. Look at your President,he goes to Damascus and kisses the guy who ordered the murder of his father, now you can not get much lower than that, can you?
Mark, Our mascot is the anteater. The cow college is UC Davis, outside of Sacramento. But they think of themselves as the wine college. Adam
The start of what Imad? No dialogue? If people can't even sit down and talk to each other, even if the conversation is tense, then the opportunity for reconciliation is pretty limited. Should we have the Lebanon tribal model of Druze, Amal, Hezbollah, Sunni, Shia, Phalangist, being all about who gets what, and maybe, just maybe on a good day, taking a break from fighting each and blaming the west and blaming Israel when you all get tired of your little cross-fire shooting gallery over there-is that what is next? And what after that?
fifty students on each end of the hall heckled and made ambassador oren's speech impossible to deliver. this kind of behaviour in an american university is absolutely outrageous.
I was present at Ambassador Oren's speech tonight at the University of California, Irvine (UCI), one of several campuses within the UC system (most notable are Cal and UCLA). Indeed, professor Oren was heckled and it was well planned, with the Arab/Muslim hecklers posted in different places in the audience and taking their turns heckling. Aside from it being an embarassment to their cause and my alma mater, it deprived them of an opportunity to ask Ambassador Oren tough questions and truly participate in open dialagoue, which we all know would never happen in Gaza or many parts of the West Bank. Interestingly, what Ambassador Oren said to these students, and the throngs of other Arab/Muslinm students that got up and left in unison at a pre-determined time was that inasmuch as he was there to speak to a mostly friendly audience, the people he wanted to speak most to and with, were them. How sad.
....of right-wing Israel and its policies all around the globe. And I would say that's a pretty good thing indeed !! :) (Of course only as long as the "unpleasantness" remains restricted to non-violence...)

From what Ziad describes and from this and other news reports, it sounds like a pretty polite event. Nothing like student protests used to be like in Paris or at any place like UC Berkeley in the 60s or 1970s. I doubt the campus police even broke a sweat. California has a Highway Patrol, not a State Police. The cops were either campus cops or local city police.
IF there arrests were in Iran then we would hear no end of it but instead it's an action that's applauded because it allowed an Israeli to speak. typical hypocritical behaviour and standards.
Today's Israeli government are not at heart pluralistic democrats. They silence opposition as and when they can. I'm glad their representative got booed. Serves him. amd them, right.
I watched the clip. There was a VIP reception and then an address which I assume was free and open to the public. So assuming the event was free for listening to Oren speak, I strongly doubt the protesters would have plucked down 10 Bucks to see him. Maybe a couple would've but not twenty. Then the protesters would have limited themselves to standing outside and shouting. That would have been better because the speech would have gone on. Additionally, if shouting wouldn't have been enough for some, they could have been arrested. But anyway, I think if they had charged 10 Bucks this would've ended differently. My condolences to the Israeli Ambassador. It's too bad they disrupted his address.
The school is in Irvine not Irving. Muslim Student Union and the Ant Eaters for Israel love to yell at each other and preach to the quire. The rest of campus only finds it annoying. I called it quits the day MSU staged a protest of an Israeli official who turned out to be pro peace. Only a few protesters bothered to go inside the lecture hall and listen to what he had to say. All they did was build up into a frenzy outside. Poor guy had to defend his point of view to the pro-Israel hawks in the lecture hall only to be greeted by a circus of pro-Pals protesting outside. Ideology = NO COMMUNICATION
good news, the next is the rest of israeli thugs
Um, that's Irvine, not Irving. "California reportedly police made 12 arrests" Edit!
they do the talking.Interruption is of course unacceptable, politically incorrect and Islamophobia.
UC-Irvine? What was he going to a cow college for?
It's absolutely beautiful when people stand up for what they believe in! Good job students!
it's only freedom of speech when your not against the zionist and american government policies, america meet russia and china.
