The Mount Hermon ski resort opened to visitors and skiers on Sunday due to the heavy snow that fell in the area over the weekend. The snow piled up to a height of one meter on the site's upper slopes, and the resort management said that there were good skiing conditions on the mountain.
Light snow also fell on Galilee hilltops higher than 1,000 meters over the weekend, much to the surprise of weather forecasters.
Heavy amounts of rain fell this weekend in areas north of Zichron Yaakov. About 70 millimeters of rain fell in the Galilee in a nearly non-stop downpour that started 11:00 P.M. Friday and last until Saturday evening. About 35 millimeters of rain fell on the Golan Heights during the same period.
The Lake Kinneret water level rose three centimeters over the weekend to 211.02 meters below sea level, or 2.12 meters below the red line.
