Mother of soldier killed in Gaza: He paid the price of war
Major Eliraz Peretz and Staff Sergeant Ilan Sviatkovsky die in Gaza clash; another soldier in serious condition.
By Avi Issacharoff, Amos Harel, News Agencies and Yanir Yagna Haaretz Service Tags: Israel news Middle East peace Gaza PalestiniansThe mother of Major Eliraz Peretz, who was killed during fighting on the Gaza border on Friday, said that her son suffered the agonies of peace and paid the price of war, in an interview to Channel 2.
Miriam Peretz said that Eliraz is like his brother Uriel, who also died during military duty in an explosion in Lebanon in 1998.
"Eliraz is like his older brother Uriel. He experienced the agonies of peace when we were evacuated from Sharm al-Sheikh, and now he experienced the pain of war," she said.
Peretz, 31, from Kiryat Arba, was the deputy commander of the Golani battalion involved in the fighting in Gaza. He and Staff Sergeant Ilan Sviatkovsky, 21, from Rishon Letzion, were killed on Friday.
A fourth soldier sustained wounds, and is now in serious condition following surgery at Soroka Hospital in Be'er Sheva.
The soldier was diagnosed as in moderate to serious condition and underwent surgery Friday evening; his condition worsened Saturday morning. Doctors say he is suffering from wounds to the chest and stomach and is in intensive care.
The exchange of fire began on Friday morning when IDF troops crossed into Gaza after they spotted militants planting explosives along the security fence on the border.
From an initial military investigation, the troops under Peretz's command encountered the armed Palestinians and opened fire from short range, GOC Southern Command Yoav Galant said Friday.
Apparently, a bullets fired in the soldiers' direction hit a hand grenade lodged in Staff Sgt. Sviatkovsky's vest, and he was killed by the detonation.
Gazan doctors said a 23-year-old civilian was killed in the clash, and five other Palestinians wounded. Hamas and another faction that took part in the fighting said they lost no men.
"I think it's true to say that this is one of the fiercest days we have had since operation Cast Lead happened," IDF spokeswoman Avital Leibovich said.
It was a "tragic and a painful" incident in a zone where there is "an everyday war," with Palestinian gunmen planting explosives near the fence and frequent cross-border fire at ranges of a couple of hundred meters, Leibovich added.
Israeli forces "have to operate from both sides of the fence in order to have a maximum defensive system," she said.
Palestinian sources said five Israeli tanks and two armored bulldozers advanced from the east into Gaza following the clashes, firing shells at targets near the town of Khan Younis in the center of the narrow coastal enclave.
The Gaza-based militant group Popular Resistance Committees confirmed one of its fighters was critically wounded by shelling. Palestinian sources reported Israeli helicopters and unmanned military drones in the skies.
Hamas said its gunmen fired on Israeli soldiers who crossed into the Gaza Strip. Two other groups, Islamic Jihad and al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, said their men also took part in the fighting.
Israel withdrew all troops from the Gaza Strip Saturday.
Israeli troops used bulldozers to flatten infrastructure used by militants to attack soldiers before the early morning withdrawal, a military spokeswoman said.
Hundreds of Hamas supporters took to the streets of Jabalya refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip to celebrate the killing of the two Israeli soldiers, led by senior Hamas lawamaker Mushir Al-Masri, who praised the battle.
"Entering Gaza is not a picnic," he said. "The Zionists cannot come in anytime they wish and leave anytime and however they want," Masri told the crowd. "The Qassam Brigades (Hamas' armed wing) were ready and taught them a lesson and they should not repeat such a foolish act."
Hamas had largely held its fire since a costly three-week war with Israel in the opening days of 2009 in which some 1,400 Palestinians and 13 Israelis were killed.
But smaller factions have violated the de facto truce by firing rockets and mortars into neighboring Israeli territory.
Tensions have run high along the Gaza frontier this month, with Israel launching repeated air strikes in response to Palestinian rocket attacks, one of which killed a Thai worker in a kibbutz last week.
Earlier this week, an IDF soldier Sergeant Gabriel Cepic from Zikhron Ya'akov was killed by friendly fire on the border with the Gaza Strip.
Israel unilaterally withdrew from Gaza in 2005. The militant Islamist group Hamas has ruled the enclave since 2007.

homeland. ALL Semitic nations have genetic similarties. How does that prove the "Palestinians" are not immigants from the sorrounding countries like Arafat the Egyptian? Palestinian National Covenant (Charter) (Al-Mihaq Al-Watani Al-Filastini) Adopted by the Palestine National Council in 1964, revised in 1968* Text of the Charter: Article 1: Palestine is the homeland of the Arab Palestinian people; it is an indivisible part of the Arab homeland, and the Palestinian people are an integral part of the Arab nation.
raynard, Israel cannot just deal with the West Bank. Hamas can scuttle any peace talks by simply doing things that cause Israel to have to act, and thus scuttle any peace efforts. The problem is that Hamas does not want any actual peace - their own statements have said this over and over and over again so I think that we can take them at their word here - so Hamas will just take steps to ruin any chance at peace. Israel has TWICE asked the Pals to meet for peace talks, and TWICE the Pal preconditions have been their excuse to not talk about the formation of their own country. The real reason? They can't talk. Abbas can't talk without including a million and a half Gazans...and he can't include the Gazans until Hamas and Fatah have made up, and Hamas and Fatah won't be making up. So... What is Israel to do? Well, for starters, they need a better PR mechanism to explain this incredibly nuanced issue to the world's idiots that care more to react than to think.
that you're well aware of the genetic studies I've mentioned, and their findings, but that you prefer to sidestep them using vague generalities. As for killing their brothers? Perhaps if their "brothers" treated them as brothers, they would reciprocate. Instead, they have been repressed, dispossessed, oppressed, humiliated, mistreated, and perceived as nonentities, and a foreign blight, in the land of their ancestry. How would YOU react were you in THEIR place, Rab Burns?
but what you and others fail to fathom(or take care NOT to), is that after the faint of heart had fled the hardships imposed by the Roman occupation, many of those who refused to forsake their beloved land underwent a series of religious and cultural adaptations as a result of that occupation, and the many which fell subsequent to it. It's all there, along with the genetic studies that support it. No surprise then, the tenacity of the Palestinians to their land, since they've inherited that too, from their forefathers whose love for their land transcended their fear of the Romans. By the way Mr BenJay, the sort of propaganda you cite is meant to influence the beliefs of the ignorant and uninformed. I once visited the website from which you acquired your argument. Both its purpose and the fallacies it incorporates are immediately clear. But it appears that you represent a model recipeint of its target group.
FR: "Doesn`t make sense to me why they went inside and didn`t shoot them first from outside" Answer: because the Hamas soldiers they wanted to kill were hundreds of metres inside Gaza. So if the IDF grunts wanted to kill themselves some A-rabs then they had to close the distance..... but, apparently, it never occurred to them that if THEY can shoot at the Hamas boys then Hamas can shoot back at THEM.
No need to who the Arabs are related to, when I visited some of their villages, I noticed some Arabs with RED HAIR and I questioned it I was told in one word "CRUSADERS", who weren't native to the land If you're going to check DNA, you should cross check it with the various tribes and countries of Europe
"heriditary Home", well then, let's see some evidence of Palestinian hereditary coinage, Tel's, or any other Ancient Antiquities, that pre-date the Al Aqsa Mosque Most of the so-called Palestinian's arrived AFTER the Jewish pioneers returned to their ancestral homeland The main reason for the Arabs was to seek employment, knowking full well tht the Jews were developing a land, draining the swamps and utilizing modern farming methods
Those that opposed Hamas were entitled to free flying lessons, sans parachutes, from the tops of tall building, or else firing squads executed them in the streets
No need to dare the truth should never be hidden and if they are hebrews they should not be killing their brothers but should live in peace and harmony with them.My DNA is very close to Arab DNA but is is slightly different. And as an aside the muslim religion and christian religion came from Judaism so in essence all are related. And yes they are still Arabs even they admit to that. There is nothing wrong with being an Arab why would they be ashamed of it they used to have a great culture unfortunately that is no more.Hatred breeds hatred why can we all not live in peace side by side black white blue eyed brown eyed Jew Catholic Muslim etc .Look through history the last 1000 years or more Jews were not responsible for massacres of other religious people unlike christianity and Islam so come on MUslims and Christians start treating your fellow jews with respect.
Yes indeed the land was occupied by the Hebrews, and a very large number of them never left. And THAT brings up your point of checking into the DNA of the Palestinians, which HAS been done. And like I said, they are NOT Arabs, and would like to guess WHO they are most closely related to genetically? Do you dare?
What are they then Chinese maybe Mongolian or Anglo Saxon.Who was Saladin a Mongol. Are they left overs from the Turkish ottoman empire.Or maybe they are decendants of the Crusaders. No me thinks they are Arabs Druse shiites Bedouins etc .You can check theior DNA it will soon tell you where they are from and who they are.I agree that they were in the land but so were the Hebrews and the Hebrews were there long before Islam and Christianity as they were in many Arab lands. So what is your point Indians were in America Aboriginals were in Australia Indians were in South America Britons were in Britain Gauls were in France etc etc.Jews have always had a presence in the land of Israel as have their brothers the arabs.Difference is the Jews are happy to live side by side in peace your buddies on the other hand are not.
It's only Israel, and it's closed minded supporters, that call the Palestinians "Arab". Everyone else recognizes this as just another aspect of the Zionist propaganda agenda aimed at disassociating them from their hereditary roots in the land. Language and religion do not make them Arab; and they are NOT.
It's Israel's doing. Israel and the IDF, all on their own. Looking for an excuse to enter Gaza and do some killing, they jumped at the opportunity provided by militants doing what they've been doing, according to Israel, since the Gaza withdrawal. Only this time, unlike Operation Cast Lead, there was actually resistence encountered, resulting in a firefight being fought with the Gaza militants. Then of course, afterwards, Israel executed its hush-hush "day after" strategy by destroying and leveling as much as possible before and during its exit. What a ludicrous crowd it is, who wag their wretched fingers in Obama's direction to blame him for Israel entering Gaza, and suffering casualties in the process, over something that's been going on years, and is not likely to end until Israel stops fueling the antagonism that swells the ranks of the militants.
Jews are people of the book we did not fight as a united people for over 2000 years and we were murdered by all and sundry. We now have an army and a state people see that we have advanced in the fields of medicine science technology etc ,and they are jealous. The Arabs are used to us being subservient to them and cannot stand to see us as equals or excelling them.We want to live in peace but many forces refuse to let us.When we defend ouselves we are told we are aggresive when we get beaten we are told we are weak.Ask yourself what is really fair and what is not be truthful shouild we be allowed to live on this earth as equals with everyone else or as human beings do you think we should be eradicated be careful with your answer because it will show who you really are and how true your views are to decent honest human beings.
Manyn Arab armies tried toi anihilate the Jews. They failed btw which copuntry sent troops to defend the Jews the silence is deafening.Which country coindemned the attack and murder of Jeish civillians by the combined arab armieswhich country condemned the destruction of Jewish cemmetrys places of worship etc.The world calls for many sanctions against Israel but what conditions do they put on the pals murdering civilliansthis is very very one sided.Israel is asked to give up much and the Palestinians are asked to give up nothing is this fair.Pre 48 and pre British mandate did the Arabs rule err no it was the Turks. The Jews a re a tiny minority in this world yet they are denied a peaceful life in their true home why is this so.No other country really wanted the Jews through the centurys so why do they not want them to live away from them.Ill tell you why people cannot stand to see Jews living free from harrasmentther eis no other logical explanation. We would happily live side by side
The world portray Israel as the agressor.Lets face facts Jews were massacred in pre Israel(Palestine) fo centuries.Jews fled to Palestine from Europe to escape death. Most countrys hindered them and even sent them back to the jaws of death. In 48 the sate of Israel was created and the arab state of Palestine. The Arabs rejected the jews right to live in the land and the collective armies of MANY
It is shameful that people like you make a farce of two young men dying to save innocent civillians. The weapons that hamas have KILL indiscriminately. And their weapons are used not for any other purpose than terror. They are well armed with machine guns rifles etc just lok at their rallies. It is a shame that any young men are killed but even more so when it need nort happen. If hamas had not been preparing to unleash their indiscriminate weapons on Israel their would have been no life lost on both sides. The media is very biased against Israel, but i will state one thing the IDF's main purpose is protecting its civillian population hamas main purpose is inciting terror and indiscriminate killing. If they were concerned about life they would halt all ofensive actions than if Israel were to attack them they would have a just argument. So far Israel has only ever reacted to hostile actions.Jews were in the land before muslims and Jews have been happy to live side by side but unfortunately it ta
encouraging America's enemies to destroy Israel and America. I like other democrats want to see this president out of office. He knew that American people did not want this health bill so he rammed it through. Obama thinks he knows more than the American people and is acting like a dictator. Israel should not listen to him. the settlements and neighborhoods of Jlem wewre Jewish and illegally taken away. Other PMs made the mistake of letting the arabs think it is theirs. Jordan pushed Jews out of the neighborhoods so Israel can build there. Obama is bringing the whole world to war
"The IDF decides who crosses from Gaza into Israel. Hamas decides who crosses from Israel into Gaza. Don`t fault Israel if Hamas can`t do its job." Hamas didnt cross over into israel, but IDF crossed over into gaza.
''"Plant mines for a 1/4 mile inside the border. That will keep the scum out." Couldn`t agree more. The Palestinians need to do just that and keep the scum out.'' They were doing just that, and they got attacked for it. Apparently only israel is allowed to defend itself.
"Israel showed mercy and left Gaza to the Gazan`s, as a gesture of thanks they fire more than 10,000 rockets and mortal shells into Israel" Actually the siege was after hamas political wing was democratically elected into the govt. During the siege rockets stopped, israel didnt.
When will they listen?
My heart felt thoughts go out to all those who lost their lives, Israelis and Palestinians. This is not the time for warnings or for more killing. That course will only lead to more violence. This is a time to think about how to stop the insanity, how to make peace.
You don't seem to understand the situation. Sharon emptied a few settlements because it would cost too much money and too many lives to defend them, and they weren't worth it. He used that for propaganda, he talked about "withdrawing from Gaza" as if it was a move for peace. But it was not. It was only for economy. Israel goes right on pumping water out of Gaza. Could the Gazans cut off the water exports? No, Israel would shut off *their* water if they did. Israel planned the blockade before they "left". There was never any intention of independence for Gaza. It was simply cheaper to bomb and wage occasional punitive expeditions than it was to keep troops stationed in Gaza protecting settlers. All the rest is just propaganda, just hasbara. Why would you expect Israel to put their wall on their own side of the border? Why would you expect them to stay out of Gaza when they see something in Gaza they want to stop? Would they actually treat Gaza like the hasbara says?
women die on both side because of crazy politicians. Palestinians have a right to live in peace so are Israelis. The siege of Gaza and the occupation of the Palestinian homeland and the unrelenting land grab is wrong and illegal. We need real leaders on both side to stop the madness!
Why does the world try to force Israel to open itslef up to terrorism .Everything is for the Palestinians but Israel would get absolutely nothing in return. Not one country has ver or would ever help the Jews when it comes down to the crunch.Even the most staunch of Israeli haters would have to agree that there has to be a two way street not all for one and nothing for the other. In 48 Israel accepted a divided country th Arabs never have and never will. The combined arab armys tried and failed to eradicate Jews from the region .Just remember there has been a presence of Jews there long before Christians or muslims. There are many arguments for and against but in the end Jews Must be allowed to live in peace and safety in their own land. It is unrealistic to suggest that if they pulled back to the 67 borders all would be well.As the Arabs would demand more until they took over the whole land and eradicated every last Jewish man woman and child. We may be a tiny minority. But Am yisroel Chai
How humiliating for Israel.
You will get a bloody nose here and there. If the IDF's version of the story is true, the Palestinians if they choose to can plant ANYTHING on their side of the security barrier including plants, flowers, mines, etc. You see, Israel wants the ability to enter Gaza any time she desires and destroy the civilian infrastructure without sustaining any causalties. Guess what? It's obvious Israel could obliterate Gaza, but now the equation has changed. You continue to starve, imprison, cage 1.5 million people, they're gonna fight with their back to the ropes throwing haymakers. Israel and Egypt should end their seige of Gaza.
I cannot but sympathize with a woman who has lost two sons for Israel in foreign lands.
Great idea, Israel tried that, it didn't work, Hamas and associates kept on firing rockets OVER the BUFFER, into Israel Then we have the many instances where they tried to sneak in, around and under the buffers with evil intentions, i.e. explosves and weapons
It is a stupid thing for you to say A good load of those explosives are put into tunnels that cross the border into Israel, with the express intent of setting them off and killing Jews in the process Somehow you forgot to mention the explosve that Hamas send over the border, via rockets, into Israel Do your duty, insert your finger into the dike, at least you'll perform a service
That Israel is FORCED to use it's weaponry against Hamas, so tell Hamas to stop firing those damn rockets For your information, those Mickey Mouse rockets contain enough explosives to blow up a good size house upon impact You're living in a fantasy world that war is just a game and it's tit for tat, bullet against bullet Then again you've never been in war, some of us have, so you're talking from thorough inexperience I'll make it easy for you to understand, no rockets fired, no response
Israel is alone to blamed for Gaza blockade and therefore problems continue, why Israel entering Gaza border again anyway, and why insisting on keeping GAZA like a large prison, what Israel can Expects and what then what is the end point. where is democracy, Israeli people need to blame nothing but Israel government for continuing the violence in the region.. Talks are the only way for a solution and exchange of peace for lands occupied in 1967 and Revenge never works at all believe it or not.
Sad day for Jewish and other decent people. Because of their loss Israel can live in peace. These soldiers bring peace to Israel and not the "peace process". This is the high cost of peace.
use yr brains...egypt has a border with gaza, there will be no peace whilst islamists see jews / christians as infidels. apartheid is sunni v shia divide, no jews / christains allowed in arab muslim areas etc. does the obvious confuse you ?
yoav galant an ex special forces man is probably the best combat officer in the army. i am sorry israel had a a bad day.may the nation see better days ahead.
Did either of you check the reference in my post re Golda Meir Moses quote? Read: Metropolitan State College of Denver. "Golda Meir Center for Political Leadership. Selected Quotes from Golda Meir." http://www.mscd.edu/golda/golda/quotes.shtml
that shows exemplary leadership.during the war against the terrorists in the west bank in the 1970s barlev and others argued about the presence of senior officers in the chases against the terrorists.good men like colonel regev were killed. senior officers with their experience are an invaluable source of combat knowhow and field craft but the younger soldiers need experienced personnel with them.
This week many young men, palestinians and israelis were shot or killed.Condoleances to the families. The madness has to stop.Perpetual hatred and enmity are degrading and unhuman.A fair and just PEACE is the only viable outcome.
israel has used thos modus operandi so often the other side perhaps read the situation. we should have used a larger unit with air cover and artillery fire. if a unit is about to advance why should it not be accompanied by helicopter fire.
This is true Rab Burns i have a large amount of respect for you. ברוך השם for people like us. Maureen Ann please tell me how the British can not allow Jews to end their Yom Kippur with the Shofar which is essential at the Kotel, it happened under the mandate, we allow all to visit free. If you dont believe come and see.
Do you actually understand the conflict at all, or are you one of those people who likes to put a bias on everything? So far the Israeli's are the only ones who are blamed for the palestinians, what about their Arab brothers? Dont give me that 400 Palestinian children bullshit because you and i know that the figures were distorted and its been proven that children were used as shields. Want proof? My friend was in the war and he told me what REALLY happened not what the Palestinians like to believe. How about you learn facts and not be so ignorant and anti-zionist because you should know what its like to not have a sovereign country, the Palestinians have the whole middle east.
we must make gaza suffer with no waTER , GAS , ELECTRICITY and freedom of movement. soon you will see the picture of dead ugly of Mushir Al-Masri on news papaers and tv enshalah.this the result of beeing too good to gazan, we must change our policy now.
Tell your friend terrorists to stay out of the fence. They will be hunted and killed by Israeli soldiers. Dont waste time blubbering your ignorant and hate diatribes on our Israeli, Zionist, open, democratic, tolerant, objective, inclusive, liberal, progressive, tolerant sites.
and I hope not many civilians will die, because they will pay the price
Howdy there Mark, What do you mean that Israel gives nothing to Gaza.? Israel supplies Gaza with water, electricity, fuel, medicines, takes in hundreds of Gazans for hospital care, allows exports of certain products through Israeli Ports. Sure enough, the sea and air blockade is necessary. For Gaza is Hamas, those are the government of the moment, funny enough they are at war with Israel. In fact, Hamas is at war with Egypt, that is together with their mentors, the Muslim Brotherhood. For that reason, Egypt maintains a blockade, only due to special circumstances do they allow certain folk and goods through. We have yet to await the final details of what actually occurred on the border. No doubt IED·s were the cause. Remember, most US troops have died due to IED·S. The rising temperature is no doubt part of the wacky Foreign Policy statements emanating from Washington. Israel has to fight every day whilst Washington is waltzing to the tune of "Yes we can".! Have a nice day. Good night.
Surrounding the border is a means of self-defense. But maintaining invasion routes and reducing the size of Gaza by killing anything seen from the "border" effectively proves hostile intent. They know you have no intent to stay out of their lives, no matter what they do. That is a hostile act, an ongoing hostile act. As to power and water, your government need only declare and maintain that the territory is actually independent and free by lifting the air and sea blockade and then your responsibility would end.
want to lay on their side of the border, is no business of Israel. I'm almost sure it is a stupid thing to do, but still nothing Israel has to meddle with. If you Israelis would only build your "Wall" on your own side of the green line their would be much less trouble.
to see israel using its lethal weapons against Hamas's MICKEY MOUSE firework called "Rocket" !
And stay out of Gaza,
anything the UN says is false.
i like our little sparring. i can tell you havea a mind unlike some of the others (Labhras and Swiss and Moureen Ann). Look man... we are out. we must maintain our soldiers around them because they try to kill us everyday. So I really think we should cut power and water... i am tired o paying for them as much as i am tired for paying for these religious hared nuts and settlers
you mean little boy who was pushed into the fence by his dad and than was paraded around by same dad for cameras for you to pick in the report? Don't play naive idiot. It's not UN.
do I really have to answer? Personally I am only worried about Gilad Schalit. Mr. Goldstone is in good enough shape to have our attention spared.
Well said Hawiian eye,I have corrected Maureen on many occasions she tends to get all he info from extremely antisemetic sources so no wonder she keep stating all the old false libels etc.It is comforting to know that most Australians are not like the minority on here.As a rule Australians are fun loving people who listen to reason not rantings of people that spurt all the old disproven libels.Once again Maureen Jews have lived in the land of Israel before muslims and before christianity. In fact they have lived in the whole of the middle east before any of these religions were even thought of.Jews in Europe originally came from the middle east they are the diaspora who were foprced from country to country.Since Roman times Jews have longed to return to their homeland but were prevented by people that think like you.Jews are the people of the book but we have learned that we must fight cause uif we do not people like you will be responsible for our eradication from this earth .
You imply you want the US to negotiate with Hamas. Are you serious? That's more schizophrenic than the current Israeli policy on Gaza. Just because Bush engineered Hamas into power in Gaza doesn't mean the US should be holding talks with them.
IDF and Militants were killed. Israel is threatening MORE!! Whether the 'MORE' will come is another matter. I guess it'll take time to think up another stupid operation name. "How about 'Hot Lead' Sir?" "Mmmmm, nope, the last 'Lead' operation gave us a bad name!" "What about 'scr&@ th' mutha&*$'s' Sir?" "I like that...but no, it's a bit, well, it's a bit...um.." "COARSE Sir? (snicker snicker)" "Mmmm yes, cute, but coarse" "I got a thesaurus Sir!" "See the medic, he'll prescribe something for it!"
Israel, stop and think about what happened yesterday. Despite Operation Cast Lead (in which nearly 400 Palestinian children were killed), despite the economic and physical blockade of Gaza, despite the ongoing and ceasefire-breaking assassination of Hamas leaders and despite the huge superiority of your army...despite all that Hamas operatives were still prepared to confront you and to inflict casulaties upon your forces. When people are prepared to ignore the likelihood that they will be killed in order to confront your army then, Israel, you will never fully win. Unless, of course, you simply kill everyone in Gaza. The world will not let you. Israel, start treating the Palestinians in Gaza like human beings and maybe then the world will warm to you.
before Obama bin Laden verbal attack on Israel that calm until this terror leader stir up the hornet.
This is the price that Israel unfortunately has too pay to protect her citizens from terror attacks from her neighbours and from the anti-Israel propaganda comeing from the international press which only gives momentum to Israel's enemies. May G-D rest these two brave soldiers souls.
so how dare you imply that Jews are foreigners to the single tiny state they call their own? Do you not see how typically anti-Jewish your posts are? Do you not see how your posts fit into the age-old pattern of typical Jew-hate borne by so many Christians and Muslims who have no theological choice at all other than to say Jews are wrong? Arabs are native to Arabia, are you not aware of that simple fact? Both Hebrew and later, related Arabic are languages native - indigenous - to the MidEast. Jews - Israelites - are native to Israel. Whether many spread to Europe or remained in the Mid East (as at least a third of the world's Jews did), all Jews (all 13 million of them - a teensy tiny amount compared to Xtians, Arabs or Muslims), Jews are indigenous to Israel. And that is the simple truth, whether Jew-hating scum like it or not. Let us hope Egypt opens its Gaza border to let in suffering Muslims, just as tiny Israel opened its borders to all the Jews kicked from the Arab world!
He was actually returning to the land of his people. The Hebrews were in exile in Egypt didnt you read the Hagadah. And when you look at it we are all immigrants to some degree isnt that right Maureen.Even the Aboriginals came from elsewhere as did the American Indians Americans British Germans arabs Germans Dutch hmm let me think do they not reckon we all originally came fro Africa or India .My dna suggests my family came from the middle east have you had your checked.
Israeli government policy and Israeli army actions(http://ingaza.wordpress.com/2010/03/26/israeli-soldiers-target-gazas-poorest-including-children/) go unheeded by the world and media. The army has attacked farmers on their land near the border, shooting at them, demolishing their homes and land, over the past year. No one stops them. Should this be allowed ?
Doesn't make sense to me why they went inside and didn't shoot them first from outside. Seems there is more to this than what is told. What a waste of such young men. And Obama presses Israel to make changes. What about Hamas? Is Israel supposed to make peace with Fatah and get rockets from Gaza. Very depressing.
"Let me tell you something that we Israelis have against Moses. He took us 40 years through the desert in order to bring us to the one spot in the Middle East that has no oil!" Golda Meir 1973 http://www.mscd.edu/golda/golda/quotes.shtml Moses was an immigrant, isn't that right Rabbie?
Silvienne, how dare you question isreal's right to starve, blockade, and kill Palestinians? How dare those Palestinians try to plant land mines on their side of the border to defend against israeli incursions? Seriously though, from reading the posts you should have by now a good understanding of the whining mentality of israelis. you see, it is ok for them to kill civilians but god forbid if their soldiers which were inside the palestinians' territory get killed..it is definitely called terrorism
And on which side of the fence were you planning that settlement? The Palestinians probably intend to honour their dead on their side of the fence.
shut up................
Israel's sons are offered up in sacrifice for nothing...the missiles and terror persist. What do Israel's leaders think...that the terror will just go away by itself? What about all of the IDF special forces-what are they created for if they aren't used to strike at the arab terror? What's the gov't going to say to the family of Sgt Sviatkovsky? Oh, sorry, we really appreciate your son's death? Tell Barak to shove his warnings....stop with the damn words already and use actions. (and if Gallstone wants to write another report use an "action" against him).
be able to stop posting the ridiculous notion that Gaza is not occupied. //8 January 2009, UNSC Res 1860 Recalling all of its relevant resolutions, including resolutions 242 (1967), 338 (1973), 1397 (2002), 1515 (2003) and 1850 (2008), Stressing that the Gaza Strip constitutes an integral part of the territory occupied in 1967 and will be a part of the Palestinian state,// I believe 2009 is AFTER 2005.
"To hell with Obama threatening Netanyahu and placing Israel`s security at risk." He did? When, how? I believe he's merely asking Israel to abide by the law. Under the law, Israel has EVERY RIGHT to defend itself. What it does outside it's sovereign territory how ever is a matter for the UNSC. The US is one of the five permanent members, Obama is President of the US. " Netanyahu needs to wise up and do what is right.." That would be to stop illegal settlements.. " and notcoddle to a closet Muslim.." Oh dear the slur machine whirrrrs into action.. " who bullies one of the USA`s best allies." A bully would be demanding something un-reasonable.. and what exactly has Israel actually done for the USA?
The days when Israel used to respond without warning are gone forever. So mister no 10 leveling Khan Yunis is out of the question. Now Israel just threaten but doesn't act. The tide has turned.
Everything in the world is connected. We may think we can build settlements in East Jerusalem like crazy, because it is our right and destiny. But it is killing the 2-state solution, which directly empowers the radicals: Hamas and others. The settlers dream of Greater Israel means perpetual war.
No need to start Cast Lead II. Just destroy a couple of UN compounds and mosques, with a few schools and hospitals thrown in for good measure, and of course be sure to destroy a metal workshop - that should satisfy the IDF board of inquiry that the rest was all just collateral damage.
Either your law applies and you are occupiers or your law does not apply and you have NO RIGHT to control what goes on inside Gaza. They have no right to control what you do in Israel. You have no right to control what goes on in Gaza. They have no right to kill your people. Likewise, you have no right to kill theirs. This not deterrence or self-defense. MAKE A CHOICE - You cannot have both. Your people invaded twice this week and suffered casualties as a result. One was blue on blue. And you sell to people who buy for them. Israel gives NOTHING to Gaza. You cannot be in and out at the same time.
onIsraeli TV news, the incident was called a legitimate military operation, from the Hamas point of view, similarly the IDF performs legitimate military operations against Hamas fighters. The tensions started last Tuesday when Hamas fired an anti-tank missile from inside the town of Khan Yunis and that is not lewgitimate. It is not alltogether clear to me what happened during Fridays shootout and why the IDF force did not call up a gunship to pursue the Hamas soldiers. it is war and soldiers regrettably get killed in war.
Note the Palestinians rejoiced and danced in the streets. Two young mens lives were lost this is not cause for rejoicing. As jews we do not celebrate the deaths of people in an animalistic ritual.I may be comforted that a couple of palestinian terorists may no ;onger be able to kill anyone but would nevber dream of rejoicing the deaths of these young men.As Golda Meir Vesholom said when the Arabs love their children as much as they hate us there will be peace. Shalom Alecheim.
"Last year Israel allowed or supplied 750,000 tons of food and other supplies into Gaza" About the same tonnage as the armaments it devastad Gaza with? What's the figure this year, they are trying to live there THIS year. Not last year. At the present time the Israelis are allowing cement and other construction supplies to enter." Official source & actual stats please. "Would you consider that Israel not respond to deadly attacks against the population of the Jewish State?" A) they were not civilians, they were the IDF, legitimate targets. B) They were not in Israel. 30% of 'Israel' is territory acquired by war none of which has ever been legally annexed. Have you ever read Hamas` charter?" Read the caveat in it? "Over a thousand Israelis -Jews, Christians and Muslims - have died, because `.." ..Israel has been colonizing Palestinian territory for 62 years. Hamas are a reaction to a war begun in April 1948, inherited by Israel and continuing today.
just in case you forgot, we withdrew from gaza... abandoned the illegal settlements (which i agreed with) gave these thugs 7 greenhouses which they destroyed and which metal they made rockets with and STILL they attack us... these thugs are terrorists mark... plus WE give them electricity and water... may we should cut that off since WE PULLED OUT!!! we have no responsibilty here... must be good to be an armchair general comfy in the States... you contually display a TOTAL inorance for our situation on BOTH sides
". who do you think transports this "UN handouts of food"," The Occupier is obliged GC 1V //Art. 55. To the fullest extent of the means available to it, the Occupying Power has the duty of ensuring the food and medical supplies of the population; it should, in particular, bring in the necessary foodstuffs, medical stores and other articles if the resources of the occupied territory are inadequate.// And yes the GC's do apply, the occupation came after a war between STATES. STATES signed the ceasefire, armistice and peace agreements. "..paid for by ummmm, EU for a large part." Irrelevant. "You are new around here, aren`t you?" I'm sure he'll soon find out who peddles twaddle.
To hell with Obama threatening Netanyahu and placing Israel's security at risk. Netanyahu needs to wise up and do what is right and notcoddle to a closet Muslim who bullies one of the USA's best allies. The time to hesitrate is through.
does mommy know you are playing om daddy's puter again?
Is Gaza run by Israel or by somebody else? If Israeli law does run in Gaza, it is an occupier and responsible for the people under occupation. If Israeli military law does not run in Gaza, Israeli troops have no business inside Gaza for any means or reasons except as invaders and occupiers. Israeli troops have no business controlling who plants what, where, anywhere inside Gaza. It matters not if its wheat or bombs. If its inside Gaza, it is definitively not Israeli business, unless Israel is the occupier. Fish or cut bait.
It appears that there is a cost for invading. This is the third Israeli casualty this week INSIDE Gaza. All caused by the IDF decision that the Knesset declaration was wrong, that Israeli law still DOES run inside Gaza. Israel's Knesset declared that Israeli writ doesn't run inside Gaza. But the IDF seems determined to undermine that by invasion, whenever there is a politician who needs a diversion. Fish or cut bait. You cannot do both.
... Hamas has the right to self defense. That does not mean they get away with this without their arses kicked. They killed 2 IDF. You talk the talk, but I am sure you understand. When you got uppity, we had you walk the walk: the trail of tears. Remember, dear?
... who do you think transports this "UN handouts of food", paid for by ummmm, EU for a large part. You are new around here, aren't you?
They allege the Palestinians were planting explosives near the security fence on the Palestinian side. Well, that's their perogative, I mean does Israel expect a people she is at war with not to build some sort of defense should the IDF (AS THEY USUALLY DO), cross the border and raid Gaza? Give me a break, the simple fact is that I'm nearly 100 percent convinced this is a big issue becuas the soldiers went in their laxed, believing it was the same standard operating procedure and unfortunately this time, the rules of the game changed. Stay on your side of the fence and leave the Gazans alone. It's bad enough you and Egypt have them caged like animals. I have no pity for Israel or the IDF after their PM spit on our president. No more sympathy from this AMERICAN!
Hey Peter, I don't understand your plaints, please tell what the Arabs and their p[rotoge the Palestinian arabs have, are and will be doing for peace? Name something tht the Pals have put forward? Anything? for that matter please tell what the US administrations, starting with eisenhower and ending with Obama have asked the Arabs and Obama's new proteges, the Palarabs, to offer up as a peace initiative to build confidence, to take risks for peace, to be brave and bold as they ask Israel?
As a zionist, you maintain the position that the rules apply to everyone else, just not Israelis. It doesn't work that way. If you have leave to cross their borders whenever you feel like it, so do they. Same rules aplly.
...the border again. Barak should keep the IDF home for the holiday and not send his tin soldiers out to play.
On which side of the border did this firefight take place? On the Israeli side? On the Gaza side? Gosh! It took place on the Gaza side of that border! So why is there so much nashing of teeth by the hasbarah hacks? After all, IDF soldiers crossed the border and entered Gazan territory. What. Did. You. Expect. To. Happen. Next?
Hello Silvienne, You wrote, "The IDF should keep out of Gaza and then they wouldn`t get shot at by Hamas..." I say if Hamas didn't fire rockets into Israel then the IDF would stay out of Gaza.
Condolences to the families
commander. I am not impressed with his attempt at premiership as you are but his stewardship of the Cast Lead and the kill ratio and other stats impressed me. Compare him to the narcissist Halutz and the Lebanon campaign and I think that you will agree that despite his political lBarak's political tendencies his is a good Defense Minister.
seems you just took a look at the news for a change...no it isn't thousands or even hundreds not even tens every day you idioot....its a minor invasion by those wonderful IDF that got repelled...try to pay attention and keep up stupid
Gaza is not dying.Last year Israel allowed or supplied 750,000 tons of food and other supplies into Gaza.At the present time the Israelis are allowing cement and other construction supplies to enter.Would you consider that Israel not respond to deadly attacks against the population of the Jewish State?Have you ever read Hamas' charter?Over a thousand Israelis -Jews, Christians and Muslims - have died, because of Hamas' hatred of the Jewish State and its intent to destroy that nation.
After Israel bombed every police station in gaza and hundreds of government buildings they expect hamas to keep the people of gaza under control, and on top of that they have imposed a medieval blockade starving 1.5million people, 750,000 of them children of basic humanatarian aid. The only thing stopping the palestinian genocide by israel is the UN hand outs of food.
The IDF decides who crosses from Gaza into Israel. Hamas decides who crosses from Israel into Gaza. Don't fault Israel if Hamas can't do its job.
The IDF crossed into Gaza, because it spotted terrorists planting explosives at the security fence. You must have difficulty reading English or have a knee-jerk reaction to anything that smacks of being sympathetic to the Jewish State.Terrorists ought to stop killing Israelis, then they wouldn't be in a position to face the wrath of their neighbors.
"Plant mines for a 1/4 mile inside the border. That will keep the scum out." Couldn't agree more. The Palestinians need to do just that and keep the scum out.
Please Israel, do not take this out on the people of Gaza.
Iran is playing wargames again but this time nobody is saying that ,because Obama is trapped in Irans web like a helpless insect in a spiders web
Obama's attitude towards Israel and his treament of PM Netanyahu this week will only serve to embolden the Palestinian militants and I'm afraid we'll probably see many more such incidents.
Palestinians are constantly testing the fortitude of Israel to defend itself. As President Kennedy said: "We dare not tempt them with weakness." Thus vigilance is the watchword.
Israel has a big thing about its borders being sacrosanct and nobody being allowed to pass them. How about it extending the same courtesy to others, or is this more of the rules not applying to Israel?
Natanyahu keep up the good work do not worry about public opinion they hate us anyways. Be strong and fight for our security and rights. Shabbat Shalom & Hag Sameyah everyone
1st circle it, like you did with the Egyptian army, then cut off the Power, Water, Fuel and bomb the hell out of them and if they don`t like it well they can join their brothers to Saudi Arabia or go to Sinai where they have the oil. Re own it - it belonged to Israel - Apparently Egypt is washing their hands off Gaza. You are strong & you can do it. We must defend our civilian towns that are being hit from thousands of Hamas rockets everyday!
In response to Dan, South Africa. Interesting from one EX ARARTHEID State to a New ARARTHEID State. The Mothers of all the dead to-day feel the same pain.Israel end the blockcade and treat the Palestinians fairly. Israel is solely to blame for this blockcade. All sides should now sit down and talk to each other because in the end they will have to talk, why not now. May god ease the pain for all the families of the dead to-night. Revenge never works.
You make it sound as though Israeli forces have never been challenged on multiple fronts. They have and won.....many times. The next time will be no different.
death ? They're the mortal enemies of Israel and if Barak hasn't fathomed it yet and speaks like a teacher to unruly children somebody should replace him. He should never have been allowed to influence Israel again after his disatrous premiership.
My heart goes out to the families and friends and kol beit Israel on this tragic loss.
equals two fronts...The eastern where diplomacy is used and the western where weapons are used. Is it that Israel is using the old adage divide to conquer because it seems like it and they'll break their teeth again because hate drives most IDF soldiers not professionalism. They'll make a bunch of mistakes, kill too much innocent civilians and end up retreating because of international condemnation.
" Israel, meanwhile, said it would hold Hamas accountable for the violence. " The report is confusing but it is clear that the IDF soldiers were killed within Gaza while trying to kill Palestinian fighters. I cannot see why this is Hamas responsibility. It feels like a grave mistake in judgement resulting in needless loss of life.
Did you call on me? Its so terrible to lose life, Israeli or Palestinian. But let me defend the report you are talking about. Are we talking about soldiers entering a war zone area, or we are talking about the little boy who approached the fence and got killed? can you please clarify? .
Is it Safe... that's the operative phrase used in Marathon Man, the movie. Well today, PM Netanyahu and Defense Minister Barak... must be asking the same question. What's curious, is that only two days ago little Ahmad... the tyrant from Iran, was screaming for Muslim retaliation to Israeli East Jerusalem policy. And the Devil Incarnate... himself, Osama Bin Laden made the same call. How appropriate it is... for militant factions in Gaza to heed the call. Not sure about anybody else, but I expect Hezbollah in Lebanon to agitate for reprisal as well. It's true.. one can't set Israeli policy according to the howls and wales of fanatic Bozos from the Muslim world. But certainly, a re-assessment of Israeli internal security is in order. Or maybe at least... a clear realization that West Bank occupation and Israeli security are linked.
war and more dead and no one can stop it when the jewish people realize that the pharaoh(the politicians)do not care about anything and they just care about themselves and at first believe in the lord of hosts and then trust in the lord of hosts to reveal hashem in tzion we will get shalom after a long time of war between jews and arabs no one can stop the hate of each other,we need mashiaj now we need the promised kingdom but at first his jewish people must fight the real war which is in their minds against the sheker because the messiah has come and the eternal kingdom of shalom the son of david is between you as it was written in the torah of moses.
Time to take off the gloves with Gaza and wipe out that hellhole, Goldstone or no Goldstone. It's a pity for any Jewish boy to endanger his life for those uncivilized "people".
That no-talent twit has unleashed a world-wide orgy of anti-Israel bashing and anti-Semitism. The animals in Gaza were the first to start barking when they heard a kindred spirit. We can expect more as a result of the "friend" we have in the White House.
My condolences to the families of these 2 young heroes. They sacrificed their lives so Israel and the Jewish people can be safe. To all the Israel bashers and Jew haters who are loving this, you all know what you can do.
so complicatedly elaborate, enough to border on made up...
This is the price of more settlements. Is it really worth it? Harry
Hopefully Carter and EU supporters will die there with them. Israel needs leaders who will throw off the inappropriate burden of proportionate response. The arabs have millions ready to give away their worthless lives. In the same way that 2000 prisoners are released for one then 2000 gazans should be killed for one. Revenge is for the Jews, let the Christians turn their other cheek.
No Loo you should feel, smug, nothing or little. It's not the pursuit of equality for Palestinians that compels you to reach out to Jewville. On the contrary, you believe the Jew has no right to infect Palestine with his presence. This abhorence is what I consider Antisemitism...sorry Anti Zionism, both entirely different things of course.
Israel showed mercy and left Gaza to the Gazan's, as a gesture of thanks they fire more than 10,000 rockets and mortal shells into Israel It's the old saying, "Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twic, shame on me" Israel won't get fooled again
Actually, the blood is on the hands of Obama. He incites in much the same way as his dear Palestinians, for whom he feels so deeply.
The 10,000 rockets and mortar rounds that were fired into Israel, which resulted in the siege
Arabs killed Jews long before the land was captured You see it's simply a matter of action (arab attacks) Israeli reaction to those attacks If we use Gaza as a reference point, there was no point in returning that parcel of land, all it did was give Hamas a large base to operate from
"The IDF should keep out of Gaza and then they wouldn`t get shot at by Hamas" Your ignorant comment beggars belief. You probably read the article but the facts didn't suit your preconceptions. The IDF patrol was on the Israeli side of the BORDER when they came under enemy anti-tank rocket fire from WITHIN GAZA. What part of that do you not understand? And what should the IDF had done? Send a telegram asking the terrorists to cease firing?
What would happen if an armed force from Gaza entered Israeli territory?
You have lost your moral compass. You expect Israel to take it easy on a vicious enemy sworn to its destruction.
Can you explain how 'Jordanian intelligence' got an Israeli patrol to advance five hundred yards into Gaza? The fact is that Israel dearly needs some dust right now -- and she's going to kick it up.
Get some but get out of there Israel.
You need to read the article again. IDF soldiers entered Gaza to investigate Hamas terrorists near the security fence.
Both parties shall make every possible way for peace. None is interested to see blood!
May 14th 1948...there has never been a peace treaty between Israel and the non-state entity of Palestine. Hamas have a right to fire on IDF WHEREVER THEY ARE, especially if they're not in Israel. http://talknic.files.wordpress.com/2009/09/southern.gif http://wp.me/PDB7k-Y#southern-border
Station UN peacekeeping troops at the border. That will keep the scum out.
I'm so sorry to hear about these deaths. I feel terrible for the families. Sadly, violence is not going to cease so long as the Gazans are kept hungry in a small box, and Gazans are not going to be let out of their small box until Israel can be confident it won't result in scores of deaths. Please learn the lesson and don't let the West Bank become a box too. Do what it takes to move forward on peace negotiations so that peaceful Palestinians can enjoy basic rights and dignity, and so that no more Israeli mothers have to attend their son's funeral. Nobody should ever go through that.
"Plant mines for a 1/4 mile inside the border. That will keep the scum out." On the Israeli side of the green line, damn fine idea, couldn't agree more
Why is it never the Israeli's fault for the things that befall them? That is just one on the many things wrong with those who support Israel's abusive policies .. they never take responsibility for their actions. Could it be that the blockade of Gaza, absence of a peace process, walling PALS in ghettos, denying human rights, demolition of homes, confiscation of property, destroying olive groves, building settlements, etc. has something to do with the hostile situation in Gaza and the West Bank? Own up, Israel. This is a result of your governments policies.
The results of appeasing Arabs with territory is always the same. Appeasement of Arabs is viewedby them as a sign of weakness and always results in Arab violence. Why don't we ever learn?
nutty has been told to let in building supplies...sayinbg no to peace cost too...i agree its the start of a largr fight and the zio state has no friends
You cannot shoot their officers and blame them for inactivity.
Everyone blaming Israel for the siege should understand why Egypt keeps it up too. Hamas are uncontrollable in their desire for dead Palestinians to be seen around the world, to get knee-jerk responses like many of those above. They will start skirmishes whenever they feel Israel won't respond properly. Obama's distance-from-Israel stance could have some merit if it helps to mediate peace, but not if all it does is embolden the terrorists to whip up a bit of death. Hamas are not fighting for anyone's freedom. They are thugs fighting for power, using their twisted Islamofascism as a driver. The people of Gaza would have peace and get to control their own borders, but only if they can stop their "freedom fighters" from bringing them death.
O sons of israel remember my favours that I bestowed on U & I made u superior over all the worlds.keep safe a day when no soul shall profit any soul in anything & no intercession shall be acceptedfrom it & no ransom shall be taken from it & they will not be helped. And we rescued U from people of Pharaoh they afflicted U with very bad punishment they slaughtered your sons & let daughters live, & in that was a great trial for U from your lord. And when we parted sea for U & we rescued U & we only drowned people of pharaoh & U saw it.And when we promised fourty nights to Moses then U took calf after him & U were oppressors. Then we let it pass U after that so that U thank. And when we gave moses book & criterion so U get guidance. And when moses told his community O my community U have definately oppressed yourselves by taking calf so repent to your fashioner so fight your souls, that will be better for U before your fashioner,so He turned to U, sure He is turning merciful.
This is the price of freedom. May the families of these fallen officers be comforted among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem that their sons' comrades are strong and will not falter in their mission. Israel, know you are not alone. Although the voices of those who condemn you seem to grow louder, we who see in you the higher expression of civilization in a world too quick to appease barbarianism, stand with you.
Half-measures never worked. Tank shells not permitted? Who is in charge of Israeli forces now? Seems like Israeli leadership doing everything possible to save pals for a price of losing their own soldiers. Pathetic.. Cannot they see that palestinians are using them to all they are worth with all this good intentions and ass kissing...

All deaths - Israeli and Palestinian are to be regretted. The brual seige of Gaza gives militants a degree of legitimacy. If there's no more IDF troops to be killed the seige needs to end. Keeping a million and a half people in a state of extreme deprivation is only going to result in violence.
The Palestinians are sure Israel will hesitate to respond forcefully at a time of tensions with the Obama administration.
It is really sad news. 2 israeli soldiers were killed by Palestinian Militants. and 2 Palestinian Militants were killed by israeli soldiers. When this bloodshed will be over?
1
A rarity but still such are the perils of war.
this is the beginning of the wider war , iran,s proxies are challenging idf into dangerous trap in which israel has to fight on many fronts .
May the dead on both sides RIP. Bibi, don't fail the peace process. Free the Palestinians, end the occupation, and return the "expropriated" land. No more dead boys. Salaam/Shalom
...stop HAMAS TEERRORIST ACTIVITY. Otherwise talks with Abbas are senseless (as well as signing the peace with him). Where are you, Obama?
Of course Hamas now feels its OK to announce that it was responsible. After the way Obama treated Bibi, what else would you expect? ------ Surely something must be terribly wrong with a man who seems to be far more concerned with a Jew building a house in Israel than with Muslims building a nuclear bomb in Iran. Columnist Burt Prelutsky.

Gaza is not going to become safer any time soon... so maybe it is time to treat the west bank as a separate people and look for a common plan... because Gaza, southern Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Iran, ...and untold closet enemies are looking to engage Israel and no nation in history has won fighting on all fronts...
A Jewish settlement should be built immediately right in the spot where these brave soldiers were killed! This would send a clear message to the terrorists that agression doesn't pay. The new community should be named for those killed today and their blood should be avenged speedily!
...End the occupation and save lives on both sides. Israelis must ask why their soldiers, one of them from the fundamentalist settlement of Kiryat Araba (built on stolen Palestinian lands), were in Khan Yunis. Israel has been besieging Gaza for years. Under international law, as Richard Faulk wrote, the siege is an act of war. Hamas was compromising when it agreed to a truce while Israel was still maintaining the siege. End Occupation and the bloodshed on both sides. Shalom, Salam, peace, no occupation!
The blockage of Gaza has radicalised the youth and even Hamas can not stop them. Israel created Hamas, Hizbullah and now a new breed of ultr islamc jihadists that can not be stopped. The future is bleak.
...but, Hamas is not responsible for any 'illegal' activity that flows into Israel. If Israel is to hold Hamas accountable, they should have realized that murdering over 200 police civilians 16 months ago, and destroying every police station within Gaza, Palestine would have repercussions for the control of sporadic resistance.
explosives!
how did King Abdullah of Jordan know when he spoke to CNN that before the arab league the war will begin? how did he know ???? Remember what he said on CNN ??? KING ABDULLAH II OF JORDAN: We are waiting for the United States to hopefully give us their undivided attention on this issue. So, if we don't get a clear mandate over the next month or so, then I'm not convinced that we're going to move the process forward. What we have to keep in mind is... ZAKARIA: Let's stay on that, though. You're saying, if in the next month you don't get a clear sense from the United States that it is pushing hard on this, you feel like things are going to stall. KING ABDULLAH: People are disheartened. People are not convinced. I think the credibility of the U.S. is under question now. So, we really have to be able to move the process forward in the next month or so, especially leading to the Arab summit, so that we don't have any confusion coming out of there.
The war has started.
2 israeli soldiers. 2 Palestinian Militans. sad to know this. When will this kind of atrocities end an peace come to the all the children of Abraham? in the ME?
I know many will be incensed by this, but please do not be blinded by rage. I've got a horrible feeling many IDF soldiers are embarrassed by this 1:1 kill ratio, and will take great pleasure in conducting yet another massacre. Gaza is dying. It needs Israel's mercy now more than ever.
I imagine we will have some folks leaping to conclusions, but the many, and confused, accounts of this incident make it impossible to draw any valid conclusions. While various accounts agree on some details, others vary significantly. Specifically as to where events happened.
Here we go again, the arabs fire from civilian areas and cry to Goldstone and the UN they are victims of war crimens.
As one nation reaches the stars the generations for another have just begun to look up. As we look up we with them let us help by giving them the stepping stool to launch a stepping stool into the sky then a ladder to reach the ship then the rockets to reach the moon instead of killing one another. Let not these people have died in vain let our youth sail the space winds of our dreams with other nations holding our hands in peace. Keep reaching in peace and let your families know WE LOVED YOU and Believed in you. God hold you we know where your at. Karoon-Rankoo Lamb
Noticed to armed terrorists approaching the fence, openned fire on them and neutralized them... This is how an incident like this is usulay reported if the shoe was on the other side....
my heart goes out to these two heros... for a family to lose not one but two sons... such a sad day for israel
keep on going Natanyhau Keep destroy Israel!
Plant mines for a 1/4 mile inside the border. That will keep the scum out.
Israel struck back, so what's new?
"An Israeli army force raided 500 metres (yards) into Palestinian territory" The IDF should keep out of Gaza and then they wouldn't get shot at by Hamas...
counting on Goldbrick to protect them
