what these people did decades ago when there were no Video cameras, cell phones, TV, internet to at least expose the goings on of these zionists? Settlers are really dangerous. If you come and visit the westbank you know what I mean. They are equipped with M16s and Uzis apart from their spontaneous aggressiveness against Pals. Whats ironic is that IDF always protect them so Swiss (Dino) is completely right.

May i offer an alternative solution? How about the police forces in the area apply an impartial manner of investigation to all parties in the area following the letter of the law whether it be Israeli or international? It sounds simple but anything else would just escalate these kind of situations and lead to a tit for tat battle.

There's only 700 people in Yitshar but boy, they sure cause a heap of trouble, like so many of these hilltop zealots. How long before the brilliant Israeli investigators, look-the-other-way IDF and complicit occupying administration arrest these Jewish vandals? They have no problem illegally raiding area A and shooting unarmed so-called 'suspects' in cold blood, but arresting the obvious ringleaders in Yitzhak, Ma'on or Shilo just... just never seems to happen. It's almost like the settlers have carte blanche to pursue their violent land-grabbing campaign. It leads to the uncomfortable conclusion that, rather than acting against the wishes of the state, they are in fact the anointed agents of the state's Eretz Israel policy.

How many of the thousands of uprooted and hacked olive trees in the West Bank have ever thrown a stone at a settler? I mourn for the trees.

I am just waiting for the right wingers to accuse Haaretz of making up the whole story or blaming the Palestinians for the settler's behaviour. The left wingers will somehow attribute this to "the Israeli pariah state." It's a shame that no real dialogue ever really occurs here on the talkback. Peace. Stephen
