Benefits would include money towards education and a discount on mortgage of first apartment.
By Tomer Zarchin Tags: Israel news IDFThe Ministerial Committee for Legislation will discuss on Sunday a bill that would grant further benefits to Israelis who have served in the Israel Defense Forces or have completed national service.
The bill was launched by a group of ministers headed by MK David Rotem (Yisrael Beiteinu).
According to the bill, the group would receive a discount of up to NIS 8,800 per year, for three years, on their university tuition fees.
In addition, the bill proposes a discount on mortgages for IDF veterans and National Service graduates purchasing their first apartment.
The bill also proposes that when a tender is given for land, at least 25% of the land must be allocated for sale to the group.
The text of the bill says that the State is obligated to reward the loyalty of each citizen who fulfills their duty. It continues by saying that in return for bearing the state's security burden, veterans should receive recognition and favorable conditions.
