Living off scraps in Syria's war zone

A civil war is not tank v tank in the middle of the desert its in the towns and cities where people live and of course the innocent suffer as well as the fighters. In a civil war everybody is a target. The FSA are just as brutal and create just as much fear amongst the general population as Assad's forces do. They are caught in the middle and in some ways they are even the lucky ones. The refugees who fled to Lebanon now live in wet and muddy tents and are wearing the same clothes they came in months ago. So who is better the ones in a war zone who at least have a roof over their head or the ones freezing in Lebanon? The only way to actually end this and be sure it ends here is to negotiate some kind of terms of surrender to Assad let the string man take control of the country again because once he goes there is a very real risk of the country dissolving into sectarian violence like Iraq then nobody will be safe anywhere, you cant just oust a dictator overnight and expect stability. Also there is an economic issue, if the fighting continues for maybe another 6 months the countries entire foreign currency reserves will be exhausted and hyper inflation will take over, the banks will collapse and people will loose everything, so far Assad has been able to avoid that but nobody knows how long he can keep going, so if he keeps on fighting long enough even he won't be able to stop economic collapse and you can't rebuild an economy the way you can rebuild a house.

The fact that the People of Syria (especially the children) have lived through a hellish life for the past two years evidences the UN's total failure as an institution whose stated goal is to "...foster global peace, prosperity and justice." The UN is not succeeding in its fundamental mission of preventing a third world war and improving global quality of life.
