By Reuters Tags: Muslim Brotherhood EgyptThe Muslim Brotherhood's electoral coalition has won 38 percent of seats allocated to party lists for Egypt's parliament, with Islamists of various stripes taking more than two thirds of the assembly, in line with their own forecasts.
According to final results issued by the High Elections Committee on Saturday, the hardline Islamist Nour Party won 29 percent of list seats. The secular New Wafd and the Egyptian Bloc coalition came third and fourth respectively.
Under a complex electoral system, two thirds of seats in Egypt's 498-seats lower house are decided by proportional representation on closed party lists. The other third are contested by individual candidates.
Earlier this month, U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Bill Burns met Mohamed Morsi, the head of the Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), in Washington's highest level outreach to the Islamist group as part of a series of meetings with Egyptian political figures in Cairo.

Nuland said Burns did not meet hardline Salafists, which have also logged strong showings in early rounds of voting and espouse an even more conservative view of Islam that some have compared to Afghanistan's Taliban.

Its called descent into chaos...fundamental islamic chaos.
An Apartheid state is not an acceptable condition for Egyptian's needs - time to apply maximum pressure as Israel recoils from not being able to divert the world's attention with an attack on Iran Israel's feet must be held to the fire and all loopholes that Israel used over the last decades with Camp David must be closed tighter than a penguins you know what
How wonderful that all the Islamic party's did so well At least at long last we have something to look forward to when they take our nation back to the pyramid days or maybe even to the stone age .
and vote for palastinian state
One -absolutist- color as background (red / green respectively). A white circle in the middle; and inside it, something with sharp points, wounding, aggressive and violent (a recycled svastika / two swords of Arab hordes from the VII Century, respectively). Then look at the woman facing the camera: covered in brown - black, only her eyes are visible. And this is the "moderate Islamic party, with 38%. The Salafist one is more extreme -if that is possible- with 29%. More than two thirds of Egyptians voted Islamist. The Al-Watan splinter MB party is also Islamist. Now tell me: Do you really believe that with 70% of the popular vote they will be "moderate" in two, three or five years time? Do you really think there's something else than hatred and medieval oppression in Egypt's future. Nobody is going to say it, but in a few months, many Egyptians will think to themselves: "If we only had the known secular tyrant Mubarak back in power..."
They will be much less democratic than Israel and yet they will be hailed as Arab democracies. Most criticism of Israel not being a democracy will cease because it will no longer been seen as a good tactic. The argument was never sincere to begin with- it was always just a propaganda tool that will no longer serve its purpose. Rather the argument of Israel's enemies will now be that Israel is not the only democracy in the mid east and therefore deserves no special consideration. Many will notice the hypocrisy and dishonesty, most will not
This is not going to be the life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness that many protesting Egyptians bravely gave their lives for while the Islamists at first stayed away from the protests and the killings to gauge how successful it might be.
That's what Isaeli government has been looking for by stalling the peace negotiations, they should be happy.
Here is Berry Rubin’s article How Is Obama’s Middle East Policy Endangering Israel? Let Me Count the Ways http://pjmedia.com/barryrubin/2011/12/12/how-is-obamas-middle-east-policy-endangering-israel-let-me-count-the-ways/
Now the whitewashing of the Islamists will be the order of the day
and donating countries had till now other interests than the need of Egyptian People but these People will show solidarity with the Palestinians, I am sure!
Hamas, MB, Salafist all rised during israeli occupations, wars etc.
I do not care what US and Isrtael tells about them. But Muslim Brotherhood. Hezbollah, Iran, Assad are real friends of Palestinians. maybe that is why they are so demonized by Israelis ?
Assad, the man responsible for the murder, the beatings, the rape of thousands of his own people, is a friend to the Palestinians, as is Ahmadinejad the Holocaust denier, the advocate of repressing Women, stoning them, hanging children, and Nazrallah who embraces the child murderer Kunthar on his release from Israeli prison. Yes, Palestinians have chosen their friends well, Mr fighter.
Learn the lessons of 1948, 1967, & 1973 so you don't continue making your militant mistakes against a modern State of Israel in the 21st Century whose biblical, prophetic time has come.
Nationalism and secularism had failed. The Arab regimes had been puppets for the west and serve Israel's interest that the interest of their own people. What is lfet , is RELIGION. This rise of such movements reminds me of the Liberation Theology of the Jesuits in Latin America.Of course Israel is going to dmonize them...
Odd
If a person was exposed only to the right wing Jews such as you see in talkback it is easy to see how one could become an anti-semite. This is the newest definition of anti-semite by the way. A person who dislikes any Jew is an anti-semite. As for myself I have not seen any anti-semites on this talkback. People who admire Gideon Levy, Amira Hass, and the Haaretz staff and owners can't honestly be called anti-semites even if a thousand ignorant right wing Jews call them so. As for the "islamist" government of Egypt, Israel will just have to learn to get along without using the crutch of a sympathetic dictator on America's payroll.
Yes, very much like Israel Beituni and Likud settlers Torah quoting anti Muslims who publicly incite for killing, dispossessing, deporting, hating, torturing, and kidnapping Muslims. Israeli leaders will finally see their faces in the Egyptian mirror.
