Last Saturday, Turkish officials told Hurriyet Daily News that the Turkish navy will significantly strengthen its presence in the easter Mediterranean Sea, as one of the steps the Turkish government has decided to take following the release of the UN Palmer report on the 2010 Gaza flotilla.
"The eastern Mediterranean will no longer be a place where Israeli naval forces can freely exercise their bullying practices against civilian vessels," a Turkish official was quoted as saying.
As part of the plan, the Turkish navy will increase its patrols in the eastern Mediterranean and pursue "a more aggressive strategy".

A very agressive speech to Gaza issue from Erdogan is realized. Turkish navy is being loaded about Gaza and Hamas. Erdogan dreams to "liberate" Gaza and to be conqueror. His challenge includes to clash with Israel and hope to arrive Jerusalem in one day. This is not Turkish Foreign Policy, it is only AKP's Islamist agenda. AKP's route has a potential chaos. And absolutely tries to make armed conflict. I wonder Obama's position.
Way to go Erdogan.
Get in line... they don't call this guy weirdo-Erdo for nothing !
What Mr. Erdogan is sayaing that the rules of the Middle east game will change ...No longer Israel will be allowed to kill Palestinians in mass numbers and get away with it ..just like the 2008 war on Gaza ...he is warning the israeli military leaders that killing of Palestinians while protesting peacefully is not acceptable anymore in the new middle east reality ...wake up and smell the expresso guys .....
It seems that a lot of nationa and a lot of people have been waiting for someone to show some leadership. The entire world, including America, opposes Israeli settlements, opposes the Gaza blockade, opposes Israel's oppression of the Palestinian people, and, most especially opposes Israeli arrogance and greed. Erdogan is the man to put all the thoughts of the world into action and lower the boom on Israel on the world stage. Not even the American congress, who are normally Israel's biggest fanboys, dares criticize Erdogan.
very uncommon for the Israeli government, on the other side there's bibi and barak that are singin' blue skies and rainbows, sometimes it looks like the Israeli government acts like a cow on it's way to the slaughterhouse ... the only one who's quiet is lieberman and that's on one hand better but on the other is sad ... he is the FM is it not ?
Aftre reading much hot blowing of air , seems its a different story when its a country who can match you.. if this had been the APlaestinians you would have bombed them long ago.. Good on Turkey for standing up to you bullies..
The obama era which has created a vacuum for erdogan is ending in 16 months.
so far the only vessel that Israel had a problem with was the Marvi Mamara. This ship was not bullied. As per a legal embargo the ship was asked to go to the port of Ashkelon where the aid goods would be unloaded and transfered to Gaza. This not bullying.
Turkey deploying NATO missile defense system. NATO and the United States want to set up a missile shield to protect Europe&Israel against Iran. Turkey should play role as Anti-Israel to calm down to Iran.
The Turks have a strong sense of national honor. Not only do they live in the Middle East where honor is extremely important, but they had the status of an empire until less than a century ago. This sense of honor prevents the Turks from admitting to the Armenian Genocide perpetrated by their great grandparents, and this "honor issue" must be well-known to Israeli diplomats. Enter Lieberman. This fellow came from the Soviet Union while it was still an empire, and has preserved the Imperial outlook he grew up with. The only problem is that Lieberman found himself in Israel, in a nation that was the opposite of Imperial for some 3,000 years. The soviet imperialists knew never to apologize lest they appeared weak, but of course demanded respect from everybody else. Lieberman assumed his office with a determination (so expressed) to insist that any nation that disrespected Israel will be taught "a lesson". One lesson was taught to Turkey with the "low chair" device. Another recent lesson was to Qatar where, unbelievably and outrageously, ISRAEL broke relations for the Qatarians supported Gaza, etc. This is "honor at all costs". We see where this leads. At least Turkey has some past status to long for, but Israel?
The man puts Arab leaders to shame. The Turkish government is the only one concerned about the Palestinians in Gaza. The rest of these so called Arab leaders quiver at the mere thought of the Israeli army
BRAVO!!! It's about time someone will stand up to Israel and it's equally criminal ally, the USA. It's about time that American and Israeli bullying will be challenged and hopefully other countries in the Middle East and Europe will join Turkey to accomplish this.
from his friends in HAMAS, Hizballah, or Sudan's Bashir, to make such a war-mongering statement. So much for the much-ballyhooed Turkish foreign policy of 'no problems'. It also exposes the bankruptcy of Edrogan's claim that he truly wants friendly relations with Israel. This is a man who is spoiling for a war.
Enough already! someone has to tell this guy and our ministers to keep quiet and chill, there is a lot to loose on both sides if we keep this hot headedness.
We will sink them. The arabs and turks will use this exuse to attack israel. I see a very well long planned scheme coming together, Israels enemies are plotting our fall every day and night.
with the cowardly US who won't even vote in favor of their long standing foreign policy position. No one wants war, but people must stand up to the criminal Israeli's and let them know their behavior will no longer be accepted, even if their big brother is there to protect them.
Ah, now Israel may not "unilaterally exploit natural resources from the eastern Mediterranean"! Now was this dictated by the support of the human rights of Palestinians in Gaza? Was it perhaps dictated by the teachings of Islam? Rather it is the direct result of Turkey still considering itself an Empire, which has the right to dictate to other nations what they may and may not do on their land and sea. It is exactly these imperial pretensions that oblige Israel not to budge on the refusal to apologize.
This is what its all about.
I can't wait.
Now I understand the attitude of Turkey, they want to "grab" all the gas and oil in the Med Sea. They don't care about Palestine, all they want is the oil, and are provoking a war with Israel by sending war ships to Gaza. Turkey will commit a very miserable mistake if he provokes Israel.
Bravo Erdogan, the new hero of the middle east. GIBOR GADOL!!!
Libero-fascists will say that Israel is war mongering.
Unless the US or Britain helps them....not this time!
Turkey has been very patient indeed in this affair. But even a democracy - the only one in the region - must put its foot down at one point and teach its evil and godless enemies a thing or two.
Israel think they own palestine they think they own the sea israel act like a little child and think they can do whatever they want its about time something happends
Free Kurdistan!
Israel claims it only wants to block weapons... Yeah right...
Turks are threatening war with this statement. UN has said the naval blockade of Gaza is legal, so Turks may get what they want if they enter Israeli waters, including off Gaza... To hell with them..
Turkey is for peace? This action will only lead to conflict and arm confrontation. It is sad, that even in a "secular" or "moderate" Muslim country, this is the only approach to resolving problems. I am not surprised that this same Government is fully responsible for the deaths of the Flotilla! They are the ones that provoked it in the first place, and since the UN sees no real faultt in israeli reaction (thou it was excessive), Turkey is looking for another way to create a new conflict! Why? Why more problems? This will only lead to more deaths!
Now we are talking, these whole apology issue was only the smokescreen. What he really wants is a cut, its all about the gas. He thinks he can bully everybody around to give him a cut. The problem is that when he starts a war and gets humiliated she will simply apologise and everything will be fine until another morron starts the story over again. It's been the same story around here since before modern Israel was even established.
Mr. Erdogan can be considered a madman who will stop at nothing. No apology would have ever helped, on the contrary he would have despised us even more. He is a megalomaniac who wants the be the "Kalife" of the Muslim world and restore the Otoman grandeur.Let us hope that the United States and the Western Europeans will open their eyes and understand who they are dealing with, before it is to late and he goes to war.
There is no criticism for Erdogan in this world other than Israel's supporters, and not even all of them. Normally the American congress can be counted as Israel's biggest supporter in the world. They have zipped it and are not making a peep about Erdogan.
Will Turkey be responsible for checking the ships' cargo?
Falling off the ropes like a bunch of insane bloodthirsty pirates.
This guy started the wholw fiasco and his claims that he wants to preserve Turkish pride regarding the apology is all lies. His real intentions are to pick a war with Israel because he is a fanatic Islamist who dresses in Western clothing. No apology from the Israelis will solve matters as he also wants the blockade to stop and thiswould only help is Hamas friends to smuggle more missilesinto Gaza. Erdogan's intentions are just that, to get more arms into Gaza to destroy Israel.
who are out of their minds. It is just a matter of time before Israeli expansionism and militarism are tempered by reality. The Israelis will find this new challenge very different from lording it over a displaced people who cannot defend themselves.
so ok, we have 1 more enemy
what you don't have is friends... maybe you are messing around too much? no, no, it is never israeli fault
what you don't have is friends... maybe you are messing around too much? no, no, it is never israeli fault
Trying to helping Palestinians does NOT make us Turks your enemy my friend!
That is the sound of Turkish warships drowning.
behind ISrael, it is not a question of ...if Turkey can beat Israel single handidly? maybe yes maybe no..and the chances is no. But the issue here, is the addition of nations that are anti Israel and Are willing to confront it.
That is the sound of NATO warplanes sinking Israel's navy to the bottom of the sea in retaliation
We already know Israel will not back down from the blockade, so this is going to really escalate this situation. Yuo almost get the feeling Turkey was loving every Flotilla that was sent. Being the Blockade was deemed legal, not sure how this is going to end, and we all know it won't end well for anyone.
Nato. I do not understand why, but his actions will lead to that. Beacuse when he'll have a confrontation with Israel and Nato refuses to back him up. He will have to leave. Mybe this will be the moment of truth for which way Turkey Is going.
Don't forget that the Turkish govt refused to allow any Turkish vessels to sail to Gaza this past July
Israelish attacks on a Nato Member means war.
Breaking a blockade is an act of war by international rules. No member of NATO will stand with Turkey in an attack on Israel.
Breaking a blockade is an act of war by international rules. No member of NATO will stand with Turkey in an attack on Israel.
And a NATO member attack on Israel means what?
If Israel attacks Turkey over this, I can only imagine it'd happen if Turkish ships were in Israeli territorial waters - in which case it appears that Israel was on the defensive. It's hardly an aggressive move if you're merely reacting to uninvited foreign forces in your territory. Even if it WAS construed as being an attack against Turkey and therefore warranted NATO getting involved, they won't. The majority of Europe is currently being governed by Conservative parties which support Israel. Besides, considering European Countries don't even really appear to want Turkey in their economic union do you really think they'll be willing to go to war with Israel of all countries to support Turkey? If Turkey plays the NATO card it would only result in the death of NATO and the rise of a more centralised European Defence Agency (the current one isn't really much beyond paper tbh)
Name 1 Nato state who would help Erdogan?
So obvious he is just trying to deflect attention away from ongoing massacres of Syrians and Kurds.
It is possible to focus on more than one thing, like Turkey is doing: Israel, Syria, economy, etc... you should try it too its not that hard, the human brain is capable of doing more than one task at a time. Agree on massacre of Kurds just like Israel massacres Palestinian.
Israel's supporters just make things up as they go. They all do it. It must be part of Zionism 101.
Didn't he say earlier this would just blow over?
